If Marlon were to actually confess his feelings for Marnie, she may actually want to give him a chance, especially since he's definitely not going to have Mayor Lewis's problem of hiding their relationship for the sake of his reputation. We really can't know for sure since Marnie is clearly unaware of Marlon's feelings, but if she into older dudes with gray hair that wear green, have some position of authority, and show a romantic interest in her, she can definitely do better than Lewis!
@@elizabethb4168 I think Marnie is settled with Lewis specially because she feels like she can't attract anything else, like she lost her prime because she is not young anymore, and she was never married, she maybe feel like is hard to men to feel attracted to her, specially since she has the custody of her young niece and is taking care of Shane. When in reality, she is quite popular with the elders, if I remember correctly, even Gus has shown interest in her.
@@Leapalot Ok but Marlon is easily the best-looking guy in-game... Well at least in my option. On a serious note, that is a good point, she may not be into Marlon and that's ok, however, she clearly isn't happy with Lewis. If she was happy she wouldn't be so upset about him keeping their relationship a secret. I think @Blue Lan hit the nail on the head. She is afraid of being alone, not understanding that 1: being alone is better than being in a relationship where the other person is mistreating you and 2:There are plenty of fish in the sea who would be interested in her, Lewis isn't the only one.
It honestly boggles my mind that what about dating Marnie is so bad for his image. What could possibly be so incriminating about dating someone who runs an animal shop and has taken care of two people for years? The worst thing I can think about Marnie is that she doesn't work on Tuesdays, WTH Lewis?
I'm guessing it's because of their almost supervisory relationship. It's a politician dating someone he's supposed to be in charge of. Just a little messy.
I don't think Lewis wants to hide his and Marnie's relationship because of Joja. To me, this seems to be a clear case of "wanting to have his cake and to eat it too". As their relationship stands now he gets to have a happy carefree bachelor lifestyle, while also having someone around that he can constantly get sex from. Basically, all Lewis wants is a F***buddy, yet Marnie wants more, so instead of finding someone whos down with some casual fun, Lewis tells Marnie that "yeah sure, you're totally my girlfriend and I love you and stuff, but like people would get mad if we got together so like we can't tell anyone. I mean if you REALLY cared for me you'd understand, right?" and Marnie being desperate not to be alone and not realizing how toxic her relationship with Lewis is and the fact she has got at least two other men interested in her, believes him and hopes someday things will change and they can be together publicly. Only we know it will never happen.
i literally couldnt have said it better myself. ive been in that kind of relationship and its torturous. marnie can do so mucch better, but fear of being alone or abandonment can make you do some really self destructive things.
Who's the second guy who's interested in her besides Marlon? But yeah, I wish there was an option to clue her in on her other options and force Lewis to shit or get off the pot.
Maybe someday, Concerned Ape will put out an update that includes a quest to "save Marnie," from herself, and show her that she has OTHER OPTIONS than just Lewis. And your choices determine whether she marries Marlon, Gus, or the Player!
@@vanyadolly It’s that guy Marlon who sends you on a mission to go deeper into the mines. During the Spring dance he mentions how beautiful she is. But she doesn’t seem to notice.
I "officially" began to dislike Lewis when he and Robin made that board with bigger jobs. Robin asked for help, and I was kinda _naah_ and Lewis got so upset by it and called me selfish. Like damn, I am rebuilding your COMMUNITY CENTER after all D:
i started disliking lewis when he said something along the lines of “your farm has really picked our economy up” like my guy i got this game a week ago i’m not even through my first year and my measly farm is the reason the economy is alive???
I thought stardew was all about grinding up to eventually become mayor since we are doing all the work to make this little town better. Hopefully the devs understand our frustration.
Personally I’m a little tired of games making you the leader of everything. I’m content to run my farm, being the mayor at the same time sounds like way too much work lol
You forgot to say about how your first interaction with Gunther is him saying, "Uh... This is embarrassing, but the previous curator made off with the entire collection. We don't have any artifacts for display." I'm pretty sure that Lewis would hire everyone so Gunther telling you that is just sad for Lewis. Also the library has *no* books so I'm assuming they also stole that too. You'd think Lewis would donate books? Nope! Also he didn't even tell you about any of this!!
Hmmm, so, youre saying that all the valuable artefacts dissappeard from a museam, at around the same time that the mayor got a gold statue made of himself? Hmmmmm
This must have way more views, quite a well-made video! My most disliked moment about Lewis is at the beginning of Fall, year 1 when we first unlock special orders board. As an introduction to this mechanic Robin suggest us to help her with project. When I refused due to being busy or something like that Robin reacted relatively calmly, but Lewis began to act really toxic - accused me of slacking, questioned the seriousness of my work; even after the cutscene when I found him that day and talked to him he said 'I didn't expect such egoism from you'. Which makes it clear - Lewis don't like it at all when Farmer refuses to do all the work in valley by him/herself.
I can't believe you could let us down like this "farmer who has lived here for 2 months." How are you not as invested as me, the mayor who idly watched our town fall into disrepair as I snuck around with another business owner, rubbed elbows with politicians, and secretly emptied the town vault to create a statue of myself? Oh you think I should help Robin then? Nah. Too busy gardening and collecting taxed. You wouldn't understand how much work it is to maintain a garden.
Keep in mind, that even if you threaten to expose all of Lewis's secrets to everyone in town, all the townfolk would find out about his and Marnie's relationship regardless, but he STILL wont have a formal relationship with her. Might as well at that point, unless of course, he is just using her and doesn't actually care, which seems to be the case.
I always took it that he's embarrassed of her, which as a big girl myself I can tell you is honestly way too common. I think she deserves better and should have an update where she gets with Marlon.
But, there is no tourism. At the festivals, only the town residents are there, except in instances where people come as part of the festival itself like the people working for the fair. I don't recall ever seeing any tourists. And even if tourists did come, Pierre is the only asshole in town that is actually there trying to make profit instead of enjoying the festival, so it isn't like that tourism would help anyone in the community except him.
@@TheDrexxus there are tourists during some of the festivals that you can talk to. The ones that are purely traditional for the locals obviously only cater to the residents
something that you forgot to note is that a large portion of terrain damage around stardew valley was actually accidentally caused by Joja, then fixed back by Joja, presumably at the demand of Lewis
There has to be a mod out there that turns this game into a horror game, and the townsfolk into a weird cult, with Lewis as its leader and Pierre as its high priest.
Some interesting thoughts: - Lewis' statue looks exactly like his current self, so he just recently built it. Lewis' "manor" is just a small shack with 2 rooms, so the 20 years of tax money that he collected from the villagers most likely went to the statue. He also said that the statue is still a "project" so most likely it's not finished yet, maybe that's why he's so worried about his status as a mayor. - As the mayor, Lewis seems to trust the Player more than any other villagers in the game, even though we're basically just a guy that just moved in. He directly asks the player to collect his shorts, and trusts us to make it a secret. He knows that the player is the only person that could find and move his gold statue. And he trusts us to bring back the community center. Maybe Lewis and Grandpa had some history together that we don't know yet.
I love the fan theory that grandpa was the old mayor and groomed Lewis as his successor, and possibly grandpa was as horrible as him (I’m not a grandpa fan) and so Lewis excepts the player to do the same and support him, in order for Lewis to groom the player as the next mayor
I love the fan theory that grandpa was the old mayor and groomed Lewis as his successor, and possibly grandpa was as horrible as him (I’m not a grandpa fan) and so Lewis excepts the player to do the same and support him, in order for Lewis to groom the player as the next mayor
There'a a reason that I NEVER give Lewis his shorts, or the truffle oil. For one thing, he TOTALLY underpays for that truffle oil! For another thing, he has been stringing Marnie along for HOW LONG?! She's giving him the best years of her life, and she COULD be dating Marlon, who thinks she's so pretty, but NOOOOOOO! She has to sneak around like Romeo and Juliet, because "It would undermine my authority if people knew that I, a grown man, was dating you, a grown woman, even though neither one of us is married, and we're not doing anything wrong. Stop asking me to commit to you, woman! Just shut up and give me some sugar!" He is, in my opinion, abusing Marnie, by using her for his own selfish ends, while she wastes her time with him. She COULD be happily married, with kids of her own, but instead, she's raising her niece, and possibly already raised her nephew. Mind you, if she did get married, she'd continue to raise her niece, and that's great. SHE is great. But she COULD be giving little Jas a "sibling," or two, you know? It just bothers me SO MUCH! Oh, sure, I give the guy gifts, if I happen to have them in inventory (blackberries are my go-to stackable gift item, for all but five villagers, because while 10 villagers like them, the rest are neutral, and a neutral gift you HAVE is better than a liked gift you don't), and stop and chat when I pass by, so eventually I get the hearts up, but that's simply for the sake of completionism. I do not LIKE Lewis, and probably never will. I DO like Marnie. She's kind to animals, loves her niblings, and I FEEL for her at the Flower Dance, when she just wants to take part, but she can't because LEWIS IS AN ABSOLUTE ASSHOLE!!! Ahem. Lewis shouldn't lead her on. He should either come forward and court her openly, or set her free to find happiness elsewhere, before it's too late for her. I wish Concerned Ape would give us the option to woo Marnie away from him. Hehehe. That would make for some interesting dramatic dialogue, wouldn't it? Maybe Lewis would refuse to perform the wedding ceremony, if you propose to Marnie, and the Governor would show up, instead. After all, Marnie is the sweet woman who stirs the pot at the annual pot-luck, so I'm sure he's gotten to know her a bit, right? If she asked him to come and officiate for her wedding, with perhaps an offering of some wonderful soup, he might just do it.
omh your entire comment is actually underrated. i agree w u, we need to get a choice where we can marry marnie and shoo away lewis like a spoiled 3yr taking away their ipad
Even if it’s not by making her a marriage candidate, an option to sabotage lewis so she can be free to either be single and happy or be happy with Marlon would be great!
how do you like harvest moon? i was considering getting that since i love SDV but a lot of the reviews said that it was fine but would probably be better when the whole thing is released hahaha
At first, I was thinking that even if Lewis is corrupted, he is still talented enough to find market for mountain of our product to sell... Now I know that he selling our wine, cheese and vegetables to Joja no matter which route we choose. Damn...
How could Lewis also allow the old librarian to take all the artifacts and leave nothing to Gunther? Also, the golden statue makes sense since Lewis is at Clint's collecting his "business tax". Bro, we didn't just become a farmer in stardew. We became its shadow mayor lmao.
Well I'm sure the old librarian didn't ask permission from Lewis before he absconded with the stuff. 🙄 And even then it might have been his private collection for all we know.
We also can't ignore the fact that there is no school in the town and the library/museum is completely empty with all their books for some reason buried around the town so it's amazing that the whole town is not illiterate
5:10 I mean, the reason diamonds are considered so expensive and rare is because De Beers had a monopoly and controlled the majority of diamond distribution for a long time. Since diamonds can be freely mined in the world of stardew, there probably isn't as high a demand for them which means lower prices. Coffee might be so expensive because it is a difficult crop to grow, harvest, and process since it can only grow in certain climates and has to go through a huge process to be ready to drink (this is just possibly explaining lore, the true answer is obviously game mechanics)
honestly, i have linus at 10 hearts, and i always felt pretty upset and confused on why no-one was helping him at least be protected from harassment. i always really liked him and just hearing of it pissed me off. i cannot even fathom that not even lewis would notice it and take action. justice for linus he’s amazing
I actually like going along with the idea that Joja has blackmail on Lewis, because that means his scummy behavior regarding money is just something he’s being forced to do, and him not wanting to go public with Marnie is to protect her and her family. That doesn’t really explain the statue though, so I guess my hope of Lewis being a nice guy might not come to fruition
this was such a good video to watch and honestly, it makes it harsh to say but i don't like lewis at all cuz instead of fixing the town he expects us the player to do so and it makes me mad the way he treats marine like his image matters so much to him that to me at least makes it feel like he ashamed of dating her which is really sad to me cuz she such a sweet character and deserves someone better than someone who makes her sneak around just to see them and also what you said about joja i completely agree but i honestly think they are better than Pierre any day for serval reasons cuz if you looking into this character he just and overall mean and controlling character
Totally agree. If you're not proud to be with someone, then you shouldn't be with them. Marnie deserves more than a secret lover who hides her to protect his image. Display your partners people!
@@Leapalot yeah i agree if your not proud to be with someone then you shouldn't be cuz to me that feel like a disservice to them or a big fuck you to them ive also seen your gonna look into doing a vid on pierre from a comment i read on the Marnie vid so looking forward to that he when you look into his character he a very interesting one that you either love or hate it rare to find some who neutral about his character
I do find myself curious as to *why* Lewis thinks a relationship with Marnie would harm his image so much. There's no real hint of scandal (that I can recall at least, haven't played since pre 1.4) around her, in fact, as far as I can recall, she's a well liked/loved figure in the community. Neither of them are married, or if they have been, any bereavement/divorce is old enough that it's no longer 'news' - which in a small community like this is quite some time. I don't *think* Marnie holds any position in the town that would lead to accusations of favouritism etc., as Marnie is the only place you can buy animals, so there isn't any competition there, and I don't recall mention of any groups etc. where it would be an issue. Perhaps it's actually an excuse, and the 'harm' it would do would be Marnie's likely reaction on finding out about anything he's doing that's less than above board...
@@Baiswith It's always bad business to be romantically involved with people who you manage. I imagine he feels the situation is somewhat similar, since he's likely in charge of any taxes and supplemental funding etc. But I do think they really wouldn't have any problems at all.
@@Baiswith I thought it could be because Lewis was involved with another woman in town. One time when I went to Robin's house I got the "Hey lew- oh ..." dialogue from her. I think it's rare dialogue, both Robin and Marnie have this same dialogue. This could be hinting at a town affair.
Once he gave me that dialogue "I've been the mayor of pelican town for (50?) Years" I think it means I'm doing my job well" then I said it's because no one wants to run against you and then I told my sister how I would want to be mayor of the town.
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t hate Lewis, I like them all, they just have flaws. Thought the statue thing was hilarious. Like i was like YOINK
Nah, you're not the only one. People read way too much into Pierre and Lewis, to the point that ConcernedApe himself was surprised by how much people dislike those two. It's just one guy being greedy and the other being incompetent, that's all. But by the way some people in the community treat them, you'd think they're the devil incarnate.
I don't hate Lewis or Pierre as well. Lewis is just like a normal resident with a "Mayor" title and Pierre is just a greedy shopkeeper, nothing too bad, not necessarily evil either. I like (almost) all of them too. It's a pretty neat community
@@joaogomes9405 Cool bias you got there, ConcernedApe did say as well that they understand where the fans are coming from with such opinions. While they may not be devil incarnates, they _are_ still quite generally unlikeable for their shit. They keep way too many secrets for not so great reasons. No one in their right mind would see themselves being lied to by the supposed mayor and think "this is fine, I'll act like this is just a minor fluke". Also, Pierre's definitely a major shitbag for lying to the populace and using you, one of his most loyal customers, as means to make himself get richer in the most shitty fashion. Might as well change his name to EA or Activision-Blizzard.
I agree. The Lewis hate is more like a meme at this point than a valid argument. He's not perfect but few characters in town are. People just have really black-and-white opinions on the internet.
I'm sure someone else has mentioned it but diamonds aren't actually that rare they just cost so much because the diamond industry has such a strong hold/monopoly
man, I really expected this channel to have at least 50k subs when I looked. This is such a well made video! Can't wait to see the rest of the characters :o
incredibly the 2 more wholesome characters in my opinion deep down are the worst like pierres is scamming you because you sell your crops to him and then he resells it for higher price for profit and lewis is like using taxes money to do personal things literally the whole town is with problems and who fixes it the player
How does no one else notice might be a better question! But maybe she customized them for him? Kind of how you can use her sewing machine to make new clothes? Not sure!
Lets get one thing straight. Lewis, has enough money to waste on several gold statues of himself. BUT Offers basically no help to either A) Linus who is homeless and fishes for food out of bins. B) Pam and Penny who live in a trailer. There are only 34(38 if you include Morris, the joja mart employee, Krobus and the Dwarf) residents. And Lewis STILL can’t handle it.
Also gunther says, "Uh... This is embarrassing, but the previous curator made off with the entire collection. We don't have any artifacts for display." LIKE DUDE
This channel is a hidden gem. Good host voice, good video editing, good theories and analysis...Hope your channel grows well, man. You have great content!
Lewis isn't a bad guy! He's the most well respected guy in all of Stardew Valley! Praise should be showered on him for his selfless acts of mayorhood! And if you thought I was serious there, you need to bone up on sarcasm, lol
I did the math by comparing starbucks coffee (since it's comparable to buying brewed coffee at gus) to coffee at stardew valley. 300 G is 1.85 USD which when rounded off is 2 USD but in this sense inflation in the town is so high.
Stardew Valley is a good game for teaching children to be a honest farmer instead of being a dirty and corrupt politician bureaucrat like Lewis. At least to be fair, he does not collect taxes from you and does give you bribe money if needed. I don't really mind Marnie and Lewis relationship, although they are quite a weird couple. And we need him to ship our stuff and get our money. The Mayor in Harvest Moon Back to Nature is a lot better than Lewis to be honest. He does not collect taxes from his villagers, unlike Lewis. Lewis does not even use the tax money to even make the town a bit better...
Spoilers for Haley's 14 heart scene In Haley's 14 heart scene where the kids are forced to use old tattered textbooks because they don't have money for new ones, could Lewis be funneling education funds into financing his gold statue?
7:41 exactly! Nobody would give two craps. In fact, in politics, having a spouse and family make you look better. Maybe Lewis is low key scared of fat phobia or something? Idk
@EmL-kg5gn Unfortunately, no. He won the election shortly after I posted this. It was only by the skin of his teeth, though. He currently has our town in an uproar. He's trying to push through approval to build a new neighborhood that would be owned by an extremely rich convicted child r@pi$t. Our mayor is also trying to essentially make it impossible for most residents in our rural town to own chickens, bees, and run businesses out of their homes. Guess he only wants himself and those in his circle to be prosperous.
Here's my really dumb Marnie and Lewis theory. Lewis doesn't want to out himself in a relationship with Marnie because he's been allowing her to skirt her Buisness taxes that Robin, Pierre, Gus, Willy, and Clint have to pay. Before the farmer moves into town, it's pretty unlikely that anyone in Pelican Town is shopping at Marnie's store, whereas it's believable that people shop at Pierre's, the adventurers guild probably frequents Clint's Blacksmith (along with Robin and Gunther being likely to visit), everyone in town seems to get stuff from Robin, and while there isn't evidence of it in game, it's probably likely that Willy is contracted by Pierre and Gus to supply fish for the store and Saloon. So, if Marnie isn't making enough to keep up on her business taxes that Lewis collects and is also sleeping with the Mayor, Lewis is probably afraid to be public about his relationship with her.
I hate Lewis so much for mistreating Marnie! Also the take of the stardew expanded mod is very interesting providing his secret reasons! Im not going to spoil if you want to play it I reccommend it!
at least in expanded with Andy's 2-heart scene (?) he makes an implication of doing something instead of just hovering in the local businesses and standing in town square all day.. (no more details cuz minor spoilers)
hey, thanks for recommending the mod! I love Stardew but always thought that character interactions are a bit lacking, especially post-marriage. Been years since I played so I figured it's time for another playthrough, got some mod recommendations for chara dialogues/story?
mayor lewis has funds to build a solid gold statue of himself but not enough to fund the community centre or fix the bus, he's clearly stealing from the town's funds to fund his own little project and leaved the actual task mayors should do up to you
Yoo, I came here from the Marnie vid. While a lot of these Stardew lore channels are whacky and disproved often, they're still entertaining regardless. Might I suggest you cover the player character him/herself? Especially the combat parts, since the player character takes to it like a green, but properly trained soldier. Not any schmuck looks at a dark cave full of monsters and think "Hmm yes I could just buy any metal tools I need from a farming shop in another town, but the copper in that cave is worth the potential death." Since our republic is at war with a neighboring empire according to the travelling merchant, may I suggest that at some point in time, our character actually received training through mandatory conscription a la South Korea's, but the war isn't quite hot enough to call on the reservists (i.e, us)? :D If you ever decide to tackle this topic you could make it a community thing, gathering the various backstories other players gave their characters. Anyway, thanks for the vid, have my subscribe.
This is a really fun idea! Thanks for the sub. I might have to wait to pull it off, because I think I would need more subs and interaction. But I reallly like it.
Am I late with this comment? Yes, absolutely, but I wanted to come back to this video after an interesting little interaction I had with Lewis. In my main file I’ve sort of (against my will) built up 10 hearts with him just by accident (mainly through being assigned him and only him for the feast of the winter star several years in a row) and one night during the summer I was walking back home while a small crowd was leaving the saloon. I talked to the few people leaving, one of which was Lewis and that prompted some really interesting dialogue. I couldn’t tell you what it was exactly, but it was something along the lines of “you probably know many… secrets about me, but despite that, you’ve remained a good friend.” then there was something between that I don’t remember, but he then said something along the lines of “I want you to have this, it’s left over from when I was making… um, just take it.” and I got a gold bar when the dialogue closed. Now granted, I play with a dialogue expansion mod, so I’m not sure if that was from the mod or not (someone more knowledgeable than me would probably know) but I found it very interesting that I got an item out of that small bit of radiant dialogue… and if it is part of the base game, that it means Lewis didn’t just buy enough gold for the statue, but that he has EXTRAS laying around to give to friends. :/
i am forever annoyed when robin tells me to fix up the community center... excuse you!? youre the carpenter, why havent you even tried it in the years before i came??
I just discovered your channel via the Marnie video, and I'm impressed! Very enjoyable. I definitely hope you release a Wizard episode soon. He's an interesting guy. Lewis is definitely one of those characters I dislike more as I get to know them, with Hailey perhaps being the exact opposite. Her initial attitude is pretty terrible at first, but she seems willing to grow and mature. I can respect that.
I always thought that Lewis and marnie had an age gap and that’s why they didn’t want to be public about it nothing huge maybe like 40 for marnie and 55 for Lewis
Some things worth noting 1. According to the wiki the chance for you to receive the agricultural fund stipends in the mail increase with your Lewis friendship. Meaning he likely just pockets the stipend if he doesn’t like you enough. 2. Even though it’s supposed to be a secret, I’m pretty sure more than a few of the townsfolk already know about Marnie and Lewis. I think some have dialogue lines mentioning it. And, if you have a rabbits foot, the bachelorettes will gossip about it during the group 10-heart event.
For some reason, I always theorized that Lewis got the statue gold from when he was younger and explored the mines, due to some dialogue you get from monster requests
One small note i think thats important. The buses too and from town work its specifically the one to calico desert that doesn't work is all. So the town isn't isolated or cut off due to the lack of bus. They just are cut off from skull cavern and sandys store which other then sandys friends idk if anyone in town would really care about?
Who could replace Lewis? I think Marlon is a worthy candidate, even though he doesn’t stay in town, he’s strong and has knowledge about the valley Lewis doesn’t. There’s also Willy who the town loves and he’s more involved. Gus would definitely get the votes but he’s a humble bartender who has no interest in governing. Robin could also work but she’s very busy with her own shop. I really think Marlon would be the best choice.
Are you planning to make more lore/theories videos? So interesting i just started to get more into stardew valley and it feels such of a mystery...i just started listen to your videos and i think i got alot to watch! Thank you your saving cinema🍿

I'm the 666 like lol
It honestly boggles my mind that what about dating Marnie is so bad for his image. What could possibly be so incriminating about dating someone who runs an animal shop and has taken care of two people for years? The worst thing I can think about Marnie is that she doesn't work on Tuesdays, WTH Lewis?
I'm guessing it's because of their almost supervisory relationship. It's a politician dating someone he's supposed to be in charge of. Just a little messy.
Conflict of interest, probably. Maybe people would be suspicious of him because of accusations of favouritism if he openly dated her or something.
I can only assume that there is a big age gap.
@@GameBreaker1055 That isn't even a problem to begin with since Marnie's clearly an adult (Middle aged for sure) and can date whoever she wants.
Or maybe he fears the locals noticing that the funding of Marnies business is a little higher than it is supposed to. If it is the case
They should have a update where the farmer becomes the new mayor. That would be awesome and we can set marlon and marnie together.
Eh, I mean an economy can be doing just fine and still receive a boost/be 'picked up' by a new source of income etc.
Wow I'm on my 8th year and I still haven't gotten that dialogue from Lewis 🙃

I thought stardew was all about grinding up to eventually become mayor since we are doing all the work to make this little town better. Hopefully the devs understand our frustration.

Personally I’m a little tired of games making you the leader of everything. I’m content to run my farm, being the mayor at the same time sounds like way too much work lol
You forgot to say about how your first interaction with Gunther is him saying,
"Uh...
Lewis needs to work on his background checks!
Plus no school for the children and Penny (while wonderful) isn't a real teacher so they also have no education system.
I literally felt the same way. What a lazy douche Lewis is. I'm gonna start wearing his purple shorts around town, just to spite him.

True! Maybe the pressure would force him to take it more seriously, but that also might not be a great way to begin a more formal relationship...
I always took it that he's embarrassed of her, which as a big girl myself I can tell you is honestly way too common. I think she deserves better and should have an update where she gets with Marlon.
@@Tam00393I think it's more that she's a commoner, not a rich woman that he can use to heighten position. Like he wants that big money for himself.
I think a big chunk of those taxes go to all those festivals that draw in vital tourim. You think Gus is preparing those feasts out of his own pocket?
Gus does hint that Mayor Lewis paid for all the food at the Stardew Valley fair!
Brb learning to mod.
For some reason when I read the thumbnail saying "let's talk about mayor Lewis" I thought it said "let's stalk mayor Lewis". Both made sense
I'm bring my long range microphone. You bring jerky.
Some interesting thoughts:
- Lewis' statue looks exactly like his current self, so he just recently built it.
Maybe Lewis and Grandpa had some history together that we don't know yet.
they were lovers (im lying)
At least we know grandpa liked Lewis since he tells the player to say hi to Lewis if he's still alive.
Just shut up and give me some sugar!"
He is, in my opinion, abusing Marnie, by using her for his own selfish ends, while she wastes her time with him.
When I play Harvest Moon I can't help but imagine it as a murder mystery - especially all whose "you shouldn't be out this late"-dialogues xD

When the community centre gets introduced, my first thought was, "Why are you not fixing it? You're the bloody mayor!"
The townspeople are the ones who stopped using it. Lewis "fixing" it would be selling it to Joja to get money for the community.
this was such a good video to watch and honestly, it makes it harsh to say but i don't like lewis at all cuz instead of fixing the town he expects us the player to do so and it makes me mad the way he treats marine like his image matters so much to him that to me at least makes it feel like he ashamed of dating her which is really sad to me cuz she such a sweet character and deserves someone better than someone who makes her sneak around just to see them and also what you said about joja i completely agree but i honestly think they are better than Pierre any day for serval reasons cuz if you looking into this character he just and overall mean and controlling character

I always wished we can also be the mayor, just to spite lewis 😃
Once he gave me that dialogue "I've been the mayor of pelican town for (50?) Years" I think it means I'm doing my job well" then I said it's because no one wants to run against you and then I told my sister how I would want to be mayor of the town.

@@joaogomes9405 Cool bias you got there, ConcernedApe did say as well that they understand where the fans are coming from with such opinions.

Yikes!
Have you been successful yet?
@EmL-kg5gn Unfortunately, no. He won the election shortly after I posted this. It was only by the skin of his teeth, though. He currently has our town in an uproar. He's trying to push through approval to build a new neighborhood that would be owned by an extremely rich convicted child r@pi$t. Our mayor is also trying to essentially make it impossible for most residents in our rural town to own chickens, bees, and run businesses out of their homes. Guess he only wants himself and those in his circle to be prosperous.
Great video! Short but fun and information-packed. Exactly my cup of tea. Keep up the good work!🤧
Glad to hear you had a good time!
I haven't yet, so I appreciate that. I really do want to play expanded at some point!

Not any schmuck looks at a dark cave full of monsters and think "Hmm yes I could just buy any metal tools I need from a farming shop in another town, but the copper in that cave is worth the potential death."
Since our republic is at war with a neighboring empire according to the travelling merchant, may I suggest that at some point in time, our character actually received training through mandatory conscription a la South Korea's, but the war isn't quite hot enough to call on the reservists (i.e, us)? :D
If you ever decide to tackle this topic you could make it a community thing, gathering the various backstories other players gave their characters.
Now granted, I play with a dialogue expansion mod, so I’m not sure if that was from the mod or not (someone more knowledgeable than me would probably know) but I found it very interesting that I got an item out of that small bit of radiant dialogue…
and if it is part of the base game, that it means Lewis didn’t just buy enough gold for the statue, but that he has EXTRAS laying around to give to friends. :/
Just some stardew tracks that I like: wumbus’s movie track, Sam’s band electronic, grapefruit sky, ginger island, and molten jelly
Luckily, if you play expanded and chose Joja, than you can make Morris the mayor instead!
Life’s better with Joja!
i am forever annoyed when robin tells me to fix up the community center... excuse you!? youre the carpenter, why havent you even tried it in the years before i came??
Right? It would be nice to pay Robin as an alternate to paying Joja for a similar route without the guilt...
Lewis is the typical America - "This should change but I won't do anything about it myself"
It would have been cool if you could run against him for mayor.
I always thought that Lewis and marnie had an age gap and that’s why they didn’t want to be public about it nothing huge maybe like 40 for marnie and 55 for Lewis
Lewis makes so much money from you getting divorced that he doesnt need to do anything
I'm ending the second year and focused so much on my farm that I've barely seen the game is socially deep, funny and dramatic. 😄
As a brazilian, it always amuses me to see Nazaré meme in places haha Nice vid, btw :3
Thank you! It seemed like a good fit foe the vid. :)
I always assume in most farming games, Gold is equal or near Equal to Yen, tbh.
That's something I've seen. But it still means a diamond is worth like $6.50 usd after conversion. So that's weird right?
Oh wow your video is amazing, you deserve way more subs and views
Thank you so much! Hopefully things will continue to grow!
You had the chance to do May or monster
AH DANGIT!
nice video!! maybe you could make a video about mr. qi too! he's my favourite.
I'm working on another one for this weekend, but it's not Mr. Qi. I'll do that one soon!
@@Leapalot That's good to hear^^
Hope you like the raw, unfrozen fish I put in the bin every night, just for you, Lewis :)
I make his happy ass swim to the Ginger Islands on occasion. Raw fish and soaked clothes
Not gunna mention the phone call you can receive where you outright tell him you know his secret
The currency is odd like there is a letter at Pierre saying Jojo would pay 5gp an hour or something.
I love your take on everyone! Your videos are also really entertaining.
Thank you!
Not to mention the weird year 2 truffle oil request Lewis gives you in the mail :P
Lewis has the Wizard turn those that run against him into Doves.
Some things worth noting
Two words... under rated
For some reason, I always theorized that Lewis got the statue gold from when he was younger and explored the mines, due to some dialogue you get from monster requests
hi!!! I just stumbled on this channel and I just wanted to drop you a line and say I super enjoy your vids!
Love how you can do more to help then Lewis will ever do.
One small note i think thats important. The buses too and from town work its specifically the one to calico desert that doesn't work is all. So the town isn't isolated or cut off due to the lack of bus. They just are cut off from skull cavern and sandys store which other then sandys friends idk if anyone in town would really care about?
When I play, I assume the money I get from my goods are after tax. Even if I’m paying as little as 10%, I’m CARRYING the town’s economy.
I will run this town and i will make Pelican town great again
Mayor lewis's underpants mayor lewis is trying to poison the governor
Assassination is a tried and try way to rise in the political ranks...
3:12
That add placing was genius well played
Who could replace Lewis? I think Marlon is a worthy candidate, even though he doesn’t stay in town, he’s strong and has knowledge about the valley Lewis doesn’t. There’s also Willy who the town loves and he’s more involved. Gus would definitely get the votes but he’s a humble bartender who has no interest in governing. Robin could also work but she’s very busy with her own shop. I really think Marlon would be the best choice.
I want to be the mayor though!
Are you planning to make more lore/theories videos? So interesting i just started to get more into stardew valley and it feels such of a mystery...i just started listen to your videos and i think i got alot to watch! Thank you your saving cinema🍿
I have a whole bunch in this playlist! I did get a little burnt out on these though, so I'm not sure when they'll continue. But I do want to ge through all the characters eventually!
@@Leapalot Sounds good! Very good contents tho!
when i unlocked his "project" i made sure to put them outside as much as i can
The town is in dissaray and suffering some serious economic mismanagement.
Lewis: Here is a statue of me made of gold.
him and Robin set up the extra tasks board in town for me the other day, and hes like "so you think you'll be helping out more?" and as i joke i picked the "Ehhhhhh..." option. Lewis lost his shit on me 😂 "I was expecting more from you!" while Robin was like "Lewis they dont have to do these tasks? Its just here if they want to." So im still mad i cant marry Robin, and my hate for Lewis is fueled much more than normal
Well, he lurks around your farm, looking at your selling bin
