The funny thing is. In the original- after night comes you notice his eyes go bright red/ yellow ish-to show he has a plaga in him. However in this one- he’s eyes don’t shine at all so who knows. I like to think he has something special of a plaga which is why he can both blend with the humans and the infected. Like how Sadlers eyes go blue due to his plaga being significant or that he has had in growing inside of him for sometime. But the point being made-and this is totally just my theory- but he obtained one of the plaga that he controls but one that would just rather like chill? Makes sense since the man is able to be so calm in that type of area- but moves around everywhere, looting what anyone doesn’t use anymore and selling it to Leon. Using the time and place to make a living. Sadly.

I love how much more nuanced and well-acted this voice is. the nice sharpness while still paying homage. not as cartoony as the original, but still quite cheeky and charming.
I feel like the original was just made as a joke, but it's been so long and the character is so legendary that they needed to make it more serious in the remake. The fact that Leon doesn't say anything about him (or the huge shooting gallery he owns in the middle of the village) it's so funny, but him questioning that would take the serious out of the game.
Fun Fact: while its odd that a Cockney Arms dealer is in the Middle of the Spanish Countryside, Britain and Spain actually share a border in the form of Gebralter with British people living there so its actually not that odd as he could have came from Gebralter or even lived there hence is familiar with the area.
He’s got a pirate vibe too which is fitting for Gibraltar tho I always imagined the village to be in northern Spain around the Basque Country or maybe Galicia

The thing that makes this voice so good for me is that even though we never see this dude’s face, I can **perfectly** picture every facial expression, wrinkle, tick, etc from his face just from the way he says his lines. Soooo good.
Along with the background music, it feels like you're back home with the merchant. Strange how a character that simply sells you items can have such an impact on everyone who loved RE4. Such an amazing remake.

I think the merchant's the true master plaga. He retained his human cognition and is still able to discern right from wrong. My guess is the plaga kept him kicking longer than he would've been on his own.

At first I thought it was because Plagas have their own personalities independent from the Dominant Plagas and their host, since Luis is alive and free of infestation because his Plagas actively killed itself out of sympathy for him. And when The Duke did it, I thought it was just a royal 'we', as in he was speaking for whatever bit of land he claimed to be in charge of. But both of them doing it AND knowing eachother personally... it seems like there's just an organization of B.O.W. - infected traders who are just built so goddamn different they may as well have plot immunity.
