    Not sure why I like the look of the A220 so much. Technically it's "just another" conventional twin-engine narrowbody, but something about it makes it look so well proportioned and elegant.

      guys frills are fine but this plane has geared turbo pw engines-- fuel burn significantly less lot less engine noise. This plane has carbon fiber wings which helps for quick lifts if required at some downtown airports. This is a "new" plane design first single aisle under 140 design in 20 years. Bombardier makes great small private planes/regional planes and this was transferred into the a220. Supposed to be a "smart" low maintenance plane-- we will see after 10 years.

    • @jeremymoor6458
      @jeremymoor6458 5 років тому +2

      @@salemsurveying Carbon fibre wings wouldn't inherently generate more lift than wings made of heavier materials, however using materials such as carbon fibre increases strength while decreasing weight and thus the amount of lift required to overcome weight.
      Looks like a great plane and I hope to get a chance to travel in one soon.

      @bob wach I dont think you know what happened with this plane lol. Boeing sued bombardeir and got our puppet of a government to impose a 300% import tax. Airbus then came in and said we will build the plane in our American facility to go around the import tax so now the plane is a viable option for airlines to purchase. IMO the bombardier management and family of idiots did well to recover from Boeing/US GOVT's dirty tactics.

    The plane is a proudly Canadian designed and produced aircraft. It is by far the most advanced short-medium haul airplane in existence, in many ways: It is terrifically economical, while provide better than average comfort to passengers, big plane tools to pilots, unusually spacious galley for the cabin crew and so on. It is fitting that the best US airline company (survey after survey), Delta put the type in service first in NA.

    • @texasabbott

      In the shadow of Canada's Avro Arrow, it will be a matter of time when the Mirabel plant will crank out a completely world-dominating product when Airbus-Bombardier stretches the CSeries/A220-500 into the realm of Boeing 737MAX-8.

    • @wotan20
      @wotan20 5 років тому +3

      Well, that's a very optimistic prediction 'texasabbott', because those things are not only about engineering prowess, but also about business acumen and so on. Have you noticed, that Bombardier needed to sell a perfectly competitive product to Airbus, due to the threat of litigation coming from the US? Strangely the whole threat quieted down now, that the plane transferred under the umbrella of Airbus. You see, unlike Bombardier, Airbus has the heft to counter or otherwise face down any legal challenge coming to their way. The opposition know that too, so that's why the ruckus gone away. So yes, in one way I'm proud of the C series accomplishment, but I also see the harsh realities of being a small player in a Global business. PS I'm consoled by the fact, that at least the C Series didn't end-up in the scrap heap, like its less fortunate predecessor, the Avro Arrow did.

    For a regional jet, Delta adding personal video screens at each seat was a huge plus, also the “extra wide” economy seats is almost unique (again for a regional jet). Delta has impressed me once again and continues to be my favorite US airline!

    • @alastairbarkley6572
      @alastairbarkley6572 5 років тому

      Don;t you mean 'regional flight'? The A220 is easily capable of Europe -> East Coast USA flights. so hardly a 'regional jet'. Many air journeys within the US are now flown by (more efficient) turboprop aircraft. What would you call those?

    I’ve been the pilot in command of inaugural flights before. Specifically, new T-6 Texan II’s from the Raytheon factory in Wichita with zero hours in the logbook back when I was an instructor pilot at Air Force JSUPT. I also flew the second flight ever for one of my civilian company’s Boeing 747-8’s. And interestingly, that airplane rolled out of the factory 24 hours late which caused me to fly it 24 hours after I was originally scheduled to. This delay caused a chain reaction that forced me to miss my aerial refueling checkride with my squadron.

    That plane’s interior looks insanely nice. Everyone’s always complaining about how planes are so awful and cramped these days but it’s really not true and we’re advancing in that respect. I hope you enjoyed that experience Jeb as much as I enjoy your trip reports, keep them coming. And a question: they won’t usually be using it on the New York to Dallas route will they? It just seems like too high demand to use a small ish plane like that but I could be wrong.

      Joshua V you forget the fact that dfw is actually an AA hub. Delta has to compete with American shuttling massive amounts of people on this route to onward connections. They use the big planes and can sell a cheeper Economy seat. Delta on the other hand sells this route to the bushiness community and there own medallions that prefer to always fly delta, more of a luxury route if you will, local route for New Yorkers. Delta will send it’s traffic on the big planes you talk about through atl and other more major hubs

    You need to do a review on Delta A220 Y class (standard seats). Not everybody flies Business/First Class.
    I was surprise by your comment about 'a loud' cabin. Most people who have traveled on a A220 have said the cabin is quieter than the A320/A321ceo's and B737's.

      The economy class is comfy as well. I work the ramp in DFW and we got to check out the planes during the test flights that were mentioned in the video. I sat in the most cramped looking row I could see and had plenty of room for my legs and body. And I'm about 5'11" and 230lbs
      It's an excellent plane!
      Only thing I don't like it like about it is at the 6:10 point of the video. When the plane moves from a stop it sounds like a whale being shanked by Poseidon's Triton lol

    I just flew on the A220 July 25th to Dallas from LaGuardia. Very nice flight. I had economy seats row 22 and they were the most comfortable seats I ever had on a single aisle aircraft. Had the A220 on the return flight, row20. My second positive experience with Delta.

      The CSeries could have been bought by Boeing as its Y1, with 12 years of world-beating research and design done for them by Bombardier engineers. Instead, Boeing bet the farm on a plane from 1967, and lost the entire MAX7 market to the CS300/A220-300:

      Both the 737 and A220/CSeries are twinjets. Filling the plane up isn't going to be problematic since fuel costs are very minimal and capacity is only meant to maximize profits.

      Considering Boeing’s fallout with Delta which was never made up. I can picture Delta shifting all orders to Airbus which is a slap in the face for Boeing. Shifting from pure Boeing to eventually pure Airbus except for some left over 737/ and 767 in the end when all is completed
