oh my god the Beatles I wasn't even born, I'm French and at school in 87 I was 12 years old I had English lessons and we learned with Beatles songs... I loved it. ..thanks
I was 9 in 1968, my husband was 11. And he remembers that when he was out shopping with his whenever Hey Jude over a stores speakers everyone just stopped in their tracks to listen. I know when I was a teenager it had its own listening protocol. When it came on the radio everyone shut up and gave the volume control a quick turn to the right. But when they got to the fadeout, we sang with it at the top of our lungs.🧓💋
And the world joined in. Yes, indeed they did. It just cannot be overestimated how much they meant in the 60’s. Culturally, musically, stylistically, everything. They not only were a huge part of it all, they were at the forefront of it all.
We needed the Beatles to counter some of the awful things that happened in that decade. We lost Martin Luther King Jr and two Kennedy brothers, all three to assassins! Even back then there were too many guns in the hands of evil people. And then less than twenty years later we lost our dear John Lennon to another gunman. 😢
when this song came out, AM radio wouldn't play songs much more than 3 minutes long... but this song was so popular that they it got played regularly even though it is twice as long.. the usual rules didn't apply to the Beatles
Damn Dude! The song is 55 years old! There are generations of people that have not heard ANY Beatles music! Give this guy a breaK!!! Be thankful that he is showing some interest in the greater Pop/Rock band of all time!
It's part live/part studio. There's his live vocal take and buried in the background the studio vocal take very very low. The background vocals are from the studio track (except when Lennon sing along live the last verse). It's amazing to see the 18yo of 1968 all jammin together, so iconic!
This song acknowledges sorrow and difficulty, it doesn’t dismiss it, but it’s also encouraging and forward looking: yes, life can be painful, but know this moment will pass and there are good things ahead for you. I’ve said this many times - if the very first time you hear a song, you want to sing along and you CAN! that’s a sure-fire sign of songwriting genius. (This was true of Bob Marley too) ❤️
He still does this as the closer to his main concert set at 81years! Get the men to sing a few bars of na na na then the “girls”. Total big venue sing along.
A couple of years ago this master work by The Beatles surpassed "Dancing Queen" as the most requested, played, and celebrated song in Rock History. Paul dedicated it to John's son Julian, who was grieving over the split of his mom and dad. Whenever I hear it, I stop what I'm doing until it ends -- and there is my only criticism ... I simply wish the ending refrain would have lasted another five minutes. BEATLES = Best Group EVER
The Beatles did play live, as evident by the live bit before the song, Their instruments were on and they played along with the back up recording. The Beatles will forever be the greatest in rock history.
Oh yeah: if you haven’t already, “Oh Darling” by them will blow your sox off ✊🏽 You won’t believe how great it is (they should have released as a single) 😎
Your point about the literal meaning (among many) making the first part of a "sad" (you meant the tune not the meaning) song and making it better (Na na na na na na) was not lost on me. It is an uplifting song. Can you see the Paul voice from this and relate it to the Back Seat of My Car and Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five? If you ever were to do the Beatles as a complete set you would need to start in the beginning and grow with them. Their early raw rock until their last album, Abbey Road, is a journey. But do not skip the singles between albums. This is an evolution. Anyway, this was one of your best reviews in my opinion.
Beatles always goofed off a bit with their songs live- we loved it! You’re right on the “ melancholy” as Paul wrote this for John’s son , Julian. John dumped Julian’s mum, Cynthia for Yoko Ono. 🤮 This was the 60’s and they were all in their 20’s.
I love young people reacting to this song, the video is amazing, culminating the audience joining them on stage , they really are musical messiahs to me. From memory, they saw this drunk old guy a few times, i think outside their office.so invited him to be in the audience..
I totally disagree. This version is far groovier and the visuals match the vibe. So, in true internet tradition, I hate you forever for not believing what I believe. :)
@@spoonunit03 Pauls screams are out of this world on the studio version (and you hear them better), these carry the na na part and make no second boring. The live version sadly misses these..still great.
Turning it off now as soon as i am seeing your logo covering the whole screen. This is one of the greatest vids ever. This totally ruined the video aspect.
Beatles, best rock band of all time.... for me
oh my god the Beatles I wasn't even born, I'm French and at school in 87 I was 12 years old I had English lessons and we learned with Beatles songs... I loved it. ..thanks
Quelle bonne idee!
VERY cool way to learn English! Lucky you!
My family are all from Liverpool they knew the Beatles just as they were starting out. My favorite band ever x
They were four young scousers who shook the world
“For well you know that it’s a fool who plays it cool by making his world a little colder.” Genius lyrics by the GOAT. Great reaction. 🌺✌️

The Beatles will always be the best❤
2 minutes of nananana and you go on singing!!!!!! They are THE BEATLES!!!
The best of the best right here.

This Was part of the soundtrack to my childhood
One of the best bands in musical history!
One of? Nobody better.
I think you meant to say #1 best band ever...
At the beginning, that was a silly version of the tv show host’s theme song…. “Magnificent….a perfect rendition”
Sir David Frost.
The groovy-ness of this gig is brilliant. :)
Who does not know this marvellous song ????! U have to live in cavern so... No comments it's just perfection ❤❤❤❤❤
Not everyone got to live at The Cavern Club! At his age I didn't know much about Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, or Billie Holiday.

Hello Dereck,i can't belive that.The Beatles.It's fantastic.I like this song very much.Dereck i love your Channel.Thank you for your reaction!!!💖💖🐬
The instrumental played at the beginning was the theme song of the show they were on, The David Frost show.

I watched this on tv back in the day when I was about 9y/0. Now I'm 64 y/o.
The legend...

The top song of '68.
The song was written for Julian Lennon as John was divorcing Cynthia. It was so that Julian would be ok.
Looove this Beatles Song 💖

It is live. I was watching it as it happened.
The vocal is live but the instruments were pre-recorded. When the second verse comes in there is also a pre-recorded backing vocal by Paul.
The Beatles did play live, as evident by the live bit before the song, Their instruments were on and they played along with the back up recording. The Beatles will forever be the greatest in rock history.

2:00 The Beatles trolling you.
Answer: "Interesting" 🤣
Keep on coming back to us.....
Paul wrote this for John's son Julian.
Gotta love the beetles😊❤
It's true, beetles are wonderful, but honestly, for me, I like Beatles better... :-D
This version is from the David Frost show.
It's very nice to see this live version but the studio version is a lot better. McCartney amazes in the studio version, really.
There's almost nothing live here.😂
Ah, The Beatles... Made their Breakthrough in my Hometown of Hamburg, and they once got deported from Germany, for lighting a Condom on fire! 😂
It reminds me of my teenage years and surprise parties. This slow dance is very long, you shouldn't have chosen the wrong partner....

Hello Dereck, Can you listen "let it be" from Paul, the story of this song is very painful, you can know the story in Carpool Karaoke of Paul
I wonder what Julian (Jude) and Yoko (her) think of this now.
Her?
Esta versión es en vivo, deberías comentar la versión en estudio remix
I can tell that you heard this before.
Mate what are you doing? Stop everything and put a Beatles album on… it will change your life
You got that right
Best song of all time?
The vocals may have been live but the drumming definitely wasn't
