Great vlog excellent. Beautiful places you visited. I retire next year and am hoping to retire to colombia from England great weather all year round. I was looking at santander and a few small towns near there as they are reportedly safe. Never knew there was that many great places to visit near by. Great job well done and thank you Take care always Regards James
Yes! It's really great! Especially with all the out door activities. You're also going to find plenty of other tourists and foreigners wandering around the towns too. So, yes, definitely safer than other parts of Colombia for sure.
Great video and well presented. I also love Bucaramanga!! I have travelled from the UK several times to Colombia and always stay in Bucaramanga. It is a very pretty city and there are many amazing places to visit within an hour or so drive. The Centro Cacique is a good spot for shopping and restaurants. I have made many friends in the city.
This is great to hear! El Centro Cacique is a great mall, we did go there a few times for dinner and to walk in the evening hours. - What is your top favorite activity in the area?
Looks like you guys made good use of your time while you were here. I really think Santander is the most beautiful department. RIght now we're kind of off the beaten path, but that makes it great. I like the way you put together the video. The 3Dmap graphics were a nice touch.
Your video was very helpful (and beautiful). In June, I will be in Bucaramanga for a week. Would you have a suggestion for a very nice hotel? Thank you.
Hi Jeff! When we visited Bucaramanga, we stayed in Airbnbs. So, we don't have any specific recommendations for hotels. I'm sure there are many however.
Confused. Most of your activities took you OUT of Bucaramanga. So I'm still in search of an answer to the question: Is Bucaramanga worth visiting? Did I miss the video where you walk the city streets and such? Or... is the unspoken message that there's really not a whole heck of a lot to do there so be prepared to seek out activities in the neighboring towns?
Apologies for the confusion. I think that is my point. There are several small towns just a 30 minute or 3 hour drive away from Bucaramanga. So it makes it highly connected to all these places. - I grew up in a larger city, Dallas TX, so I feel more comfortable with bigger cities... But is Bucaramanga worth visiting yes! Especially if you plan to do some things near by on the weekends... I hope this helps.
We use an international travel and health insurance called Safety Wing. That’s for real emergencies, we’ve never had to use it and hope to never need to. For more extreme activities we always get their insurance, often it’s mandatory. - For regular visits we just pay out of pocket because it’s WAY more afford than in the US.
Safety in terms of people and city, super safe. One of the safest towns and areas we’ve been to in Colombia. - As far as the hike, you might want to skip the river walking portion because the bridges are quite rugged. Everything else is super!
How do you manage money? How do you set up access to money in Colombian pesos? I think you are based out of the USA, so how do you connect a USA bank to be used in Colombia?
1- We have US based jobs, that’s how we get paid. 2- We use our Chase Sapphire card for most purchases, you don’t get charged an exchange fee and you pay whatever Google says is the exchange rate of the day. This is our preferred payment method. 3- For cash we have a Charles Schwab checking account which will rebate all ATM fees and international exchange fees. We actually invest with them. We like to withdraw from Davivienda ATMs and DECLINE the conversation they offer because it’s always lower than the real exchange rate. 4- In terms of managing money, I’m a huge nerd, and have a crazy excel spreadsheet with all my number crunched. Been doing it for 5 years now. -- Does this help?!
Hi guys! Well, I am from Bucaramanga and I have always lived here, except for the 4 years I was doing a master in Europe where I lived, learned, studied and enjoyed the time when I was there. I have watched your video and I must tell you:: THANK YOU A LOT! You have shown the best of my city and surroundings. On behalf of all my compatriots and especially the ones born the PRETTY CITY or THE PRETTIEST CITY OF COLOMBIA, thousands and millions of thanks for showng us and showing the world what Bucaramanga is. Get my warming hugs.
This is so great to hear! Yes! Widny is from Bogota... But, as you might a have noticed we've been bouncing around the whole country. We truly cannot say one place is better than another... Each one has it's own hidden gems.
I met a great girl down there who I am going to see soon I am really looking forward to going down there. I am from North New Jersey about 20 minutes outside the lincoln tunnel I was a little shook but hey it cant be any worse than me wondering times square at 3 am right?
So far only online I asked her to write my name and the date on a piece of paper and send me the picture and she did. Sent me her passport picture and a picture everyday for months short videos as well I'm confident I am from the swindlers capitol NYC and NJ I'm 110% she is who she claims.
@@BeMobile414 5 months later I’m reading the comment. I’m curious how did it go? I’m nearly in the same boat now. Although I met her in nyc but she’s back in Bucaramanga now.
