Which is your favorite parish and why? Leave a comment! And thanks TurtleDuck for the video idea!
Devonshire because some schools are waking distance
aw I spent my Honeymoon at Mrs. Browns in Smith's Parish in the Bay and it was lovely and super close to Hamilton
As a local, calling Smiths the bermuda equivalent to Ohio is hilarious and accurate XD
I was about to give smiths an extra point for flatts and the aquarium until I realized that weird border line puts the entire area hamilton parish…I tried, man 😂
I cannot think of one single thing of interest in Smith's. It's like the equivalent of a retirement home or something. 😄
Totally agree with your list, Omar. I love living in Pembroke. It's just too convenient if you work in the city. Everything you need is there. But, we all can agree Bermuda is beautiful where ever you live.
Great comment! Thanks for watching!! And yeah, I do miss living in Pembroke for the convenience of it
Great video! Packed with great info and I'm looking forward to reading the comments hahaha!
😂😂😂 thanks bro!
HAHA I love your video editting.
cheers!
Much obliged! 😁
I LOL'd at your Smith's comments. Good work, man.
😂😂😂 thnx bro
Best parish for nature lovers (apartment must have a backyard/patio) who still need to get to the city every day?
Love your videos!
Glad you like them!
i lived in Warwick and lived at Blue Horizons. Want to come for a visit but I want to stay in a families home that rents to vacationers. Do you have any suggestions. I do not want to stay at a resort.
Glad to see St David’s didn’t rank last💙💛
Never last!!
Love this video, I have family from Pembroke with the last name Smith 😂I’m in Atlanta,Ga
Nice! You gotta visit one day
Thanks for the video Omar - great job!
I'm moving to Bermuda next year and I have a couple extra questions (if you have the time):
a) In terms of crime/safety, I know there have been occasional shootings/violent crimes in Bermuda. Which areas of the island would you recommend a female expat avoid (in terms of both a residence and visitor perspective)?
b)Do you think driving is absolutely necessary on the island? I'm moving to Bermuda for work and my employer will be downtown so I intend to live downtown. I'm not confident with driving a bike as I've never done this before and there seem to be some road safety issues. Can I get by on foot/public transport if I live downtown?
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!
a) if you’re planning to live in or near the city, i’d say avoid the middle town/curving avenue area. Basically, when you’re looking at rent prices and you see something in Hamilton that’s suspiciously cheap…it’s probably in a bad spot
b) You can definitely walk if you live in or near town. Just keep in mind that many roads aren’t super friendly for walkers but it’s nothing too dangerous. You’ll be fine!
Good luck and safe travels!
@@OmarJames Thanks Omar - much appreciated!
As far as shootings go, nobody is going to shoot you for no reason and these guys usually head to their enemy's home to shoot them although we did have a horrible shooting in a city pub a couple of months ago. It's really rare to be a random victim of crime here.
I kinda agree about avoiding areas like Middle Town/Curving Avenue areas but the funny thing is that even if you did venture into those areas, nobody would harm you. They'd be suspicious and might take you for a cop but that's a good thing because they'd leave you alone. If they didn't figure you for a cop, they'd probably approach you to try to sell you drugs but they wouldn't attack you or anything. No matter where you choose to live, just make sure it's on a main bus route and you'd be fine.
Calling Devonshire, Pem'broke' lite was hella disrespectful.
at least you got lindos! LOL
I LOLed at that..lol
@@OmarJames 😂
Great video! (As usual) #teamstgeorgessss
lol what do I know stuck all the way over here in Toronto😛. I’ll be back soon 🇧🇲 😢
hurry up!
Nailed it!
😁
Grew up in Hamilton Parish and it's definitely my top pick. As a kid, lots of summer days were spent going to Shelly Bay (or fishing down at Burchell's cove). Pretty safe overall and not as densely populated as Devonshire (where my folks stay now - p.s. why are there loud hummers buzzing the skies in the middle of winter??...wtf man). Overall, living in the east is better than living in the West. Never understood why people wanna live anywhere past Ice Queen..lol. Good break down of the parishes man..you tryna start a civil war with this one though..lol.
"Smiths the Bermuda equivalent of Ohio - a flyover or a drive through parish"....you tryna get jumped by them Devil's Hole bies innit? lool
LOLLL. What can I say, i'm a glutton for punishment! And yeah, totally agree with you on the eastern parishes. Spent part of my childhood in somerset, been east or central ever since. I wouldn't mind going back to St. George's but i'll NEVER move further west than paget. No way in hell!
Hamilton Parish is definitely the best parish, no doubt about it.
Please sir can you help I want to come to that country
Team summerset! Although I’m from Warwick, I always liked Devonshire…
I'll allow it! hahaha
Hi Omar! I love your videos! I watched most (if not all) of them. I live in Europe, potentially moving to Bermuda soon. I've never been on the island so I have to admit that I didn't fully understand things like the issue between PLP and OBA, or the dilemma "kite sound" vs "kite noise". But I understood that it is better to stay away from those wars, especially far from "Kite Hater Katie"😂😂, and enjoy the island life!
I have a few very basic questions:
0. Are Bermudians fine to be called "locals" or do they prefer to be called "Bermudians"?
1. Is the ratio of Bermudians/expats similar in all parishes?
2. Within a parish, are Bermudians/expats mixed or are there clearly defined Bermudians neighborhoods and expats neoghborhoods?
3. If there are Bermudians neighborhoods, are they usually fine with having expats moving in their neighborhoods?
Thanks for your videos. Looking forward to watch the next ones!👏👏👍👍👋👋
Hey! Thanks for watching!
0. Interesting question! Personally, I don't think it's a big deal but i'd rather not be called a 'local', and I don't do it when i'm overseas. But that's just me. I'm gonna ask this question to some of my friends and see what they think. Look out for the next video!
1 & 2. There aren't any 'defined' local/expat areas. Everyone is mostly just mixed up but there are some areas that are more skewed towards one side or the other. For example, the local:expat ratio is likely higher in St. Davids compared to other Parishes. I don't have any solid evidence to back that up but i'm 99% sure it's true
3. Definitely! Just don't be an inconsiderate neighbor and nobody will bat an eye.
Thanks again for watching! Safe travels!
edit: Ignore as much of that PLP/OBA political nonsese as you can, trust me LOL
Many thanks for your answer!
Great to hear that most parishes are pretty mixed. I currently live in a country with a lot of expats but I always managed to live more in areas where "locals" live in a high proportion. So I'm happy to know that it could also be the case in Bermuda.
I'll stay tuned to see how Bermudians prefer to be called and to watch your next videos!
@@OmarJames Wouldn't the local to ex-pat ratio be higher in a parish like Pembroke or Paget? 🤔
I don't think that anyone would take offense to being called a local. The parishes are all pretty much mixed as Omar said. Nobody minds ex-pats moving into their neighbourhood but let me tell you now, the WORST thing that you can do is look a Bermudian neighbour in the face and not say "Good morning", "Good afternoon" or "Good evening" or at least a hello. That is a mortal sin and considered the epitome of rudeness. I know it's not the norm in other places but it is here. The same for when you approach a cashier in a store, get on a bus or ferry, etc. Also, if you need to approach a Bermudian to ask a question, don't just walk up and bellow out the question as it's considered rude. A polite "Excuse me" is in order. Good manners are extremely important here. 😄
@@Usuario12332 Hey have you moved there yet? I'm European too and thinking of moving there
Im want to go to ther and living ther in bermuda
You know what - keep telling people Southampton is an overrated choice. Maybe some inventory will become available and I can finally move (back) because Devonshire ain't it!
😂😂😂😂
Is airport noise a concern for St Georges St David’s Hamilton?
No, not at all. The flight path doesn’t go over much residential area
Hamilton Parish all the way!!
🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Was pleasantly surprised to find I totally agree with your tier list. That said, I still have to ask if you're blue and blue and therefore totally biased. lol
I rep the east but I tried to be unbias 😅
What about Sandy's? Isn't that a Parish? I lived there three years!
Somerset = Sandy’s
@@OmarJames I did not know that!
@@kellywilliamson2187 yeah. I believe the proper official name is Sandys tho most call it Somerset. But you can use them interchangeably

No prob!
I found my perfect house on Tucker's Town Rd...I was getting ready to stump up the $8 million but I was too slow, life got in the way and my dream house was snapped up by someone else, I was gutted! All I needed was the final $7,998.000 and I would have had my dream house. Nah....I probably couldn't have afforded the cost of groceries anyway.
🤣🤣🤣
Hamilton Parish is the best parish, hands down, especially for families.
Preach! (I’m bias now lol)
@@OmarJames 😊
Hi, where can one new to the island find housing online?. Namely, apartments for rent?
Propertyskipper.com is a good place to start. Facebook apartment groups are good too
