I've been to Bermuda 6 times and absolutely love the place! The most valuable tip I can offer is, avoid the cruise ship crowds if at all possible. Once you get stuck in a horde of tourists, you might as well have gone to Disney World. Bermuda is not like most other island destinations...it is not like the majority of Caribbean islands because it's not in the Caribbean. It's in the Atlantic. There are no casinos. It is not known for its nightclubs. It is known for its tranquility, natural beauty and a touch of Britishness. (I hope that's a word.) Again, as to the cruise ships, IMHO you should fly to Bermuda, not cruise there. Why spend a good portion of your vacation time going to, and coming back from, your vacation? The "tips" in this video were ok but seem to be directed to people cruising to Bermuda. Per my thoughts above, not a good idea. Second, it would have been better if alternate beaches were identified (if one should avoid Horseshoe Bay, as suggested). Third, no recommendations for food or restaurants? Fourth, the buses and ferries are good, but why not rent a scooter for a day or two? Great way to explore and avoid the "hordes" (see above). One recommendation: Drive/walk/taxi in the evening (after dark) to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse in Southhampton Parish. Sit at the foot of the lighthouse and watch the stars as the beams of light from the lighthouse shine through them. Miraculous! Because Bermuda is 650 miles away from the US, the light "pollution" is extremely dim allowing you to see massive amounts of stars. Just beautiful. Beautifully scenic place. Enjoy!
My apologies. Hadn't been to Bermuda in a few years so wasn't aware that the law had been changed to allow casinos. My mistake. I hope this change doesn't alter the essential character of the place.
@Larry Smole: Ideally, I would love to be able to take a ship from the mainland of the U.S. to Bermuda, but not stay on the ship with the cruise hordes. I just hate small airplanes. Do you know if there are any good ships that just go back and forth. And if you do, are the ships that do that able to handle the seas well? I have read so much about seasickness on at least the New York to Bermuda round trip cruises.
As a local I can say that this is very accurate, perhaps it might be worth adding that you can’t actually rent a proper car, only a twizzy and mopeds 👍
I spent about 5 weeks there in June of 1970 when I was 6 years old. I have vague but vivid memories. My father had a working holiday there at the hospital in Hamilton. My mother was also an MD but was unable to blend in with the Bermudians. Both were Pathologists. I remember the lack of water. It had to be conserved and not wasted.
I was lucky enough to be stationed in Bermuda in 89-93. I loved every minute of my time there. Scootered around or took a pink elephant all around. The people are so kind and courteous. Enjoy!!!!!
Bermuda is nice. It’s one of those travel destinations that once you’ve done it, you’ve had enough…. unlike many islands in the Caribbean that you would love to return to every year.
Bermuda is more expensive to fly if you live on the east coast of the United States. Going on a cruise is great; just know everything is closed in Bermuda on a Sunday.
I was born in Bermuda and moved to the US when I was only a couple years old. Really hoping to visit soon now that I’m an adult! Thanks for all the tips :)
Those beaches all looked so beautiful! The water looked so calm and clear. Great heads up about prices, had no idea how expensive everyday items were in Bermuda.

Great travel tips for Bermuda. I couldn't imagine climbing into a "twizzy" - Lol. We've never been to Bermuda. Makes me miss cruising the Caribbean. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀👍
Living half and half between Europe and Australia I always forget which way the cars are coming from. I love love love the franchise law. These where great tips. Hopefully when we start travelling again we can check this place out. How long did you stay there for?
J Yay I am also going in October with my wife! Got a great deal on air fare & hotel rates because tourism is way down. Hurricanes could be a problem though. Hurricane Paulette hit Bermuda a few days ago & Hurricane Teddy might be headed toward Bermuda next week!
A great starting point, it is always super important to plan your travel budget in advance! Well, fortunately or not 🤷♀️ but there are no cruises in Bermuda in 2021, so I bet those who are lucky to travel there now can enjoy the most popular travel spots without hundreds of tourists around.
One good way to save money is to buy food at the grocery store and have a picnic, either on the beach or in your hotel room. Sure the grocery store prices are still pretty expensive compared to elsewhere (unless you live in Manhattan, San Francisco or Honolulu) but it's still a bargain compared to restaurants. The Shell station in Hamilton has quite an array of decent fast food options too and can be a good late-night option or if you're in a hurry and don't want to go for the time and expense of a sit-down meal.
Never heard of a Twizy before! It looks kinda cool but not sure our legs would fit into those tiny cars 😅Also, those caves looks amazing!! the water is so clear and a little eerie that you can see all the way down - thank you for the tips!!
Awesome tips Sara. Very informative. The Twizzie looks so cute. I can imagine me and my hubby driving in that vehicle hehe. Would love to visit Bermuda someday. Very nice place. The beaches are our favorite. Those clear blue waters 😍
I just went to Bermuda a few months ago and I must say I’m glad I did. My crystal cave experience didn’t look anything like this lol. And of course my experience was different as I didn’t take a cruise there. And yes the island is super expensive and something to be prepared for.
This was SO great! Bermuda was actually the first time I (Krystal) left the US and it would have been so helpful to know these back then. Would love to go back since it's been a few years. Would love to rent one of those little cars LOL
Great presentation. I never thought about visiting Bermuda until seeing your video. I usually go to Jamaica or Saint Martin. When I travel, all I wish for is civility and a modicum of cleanliness. This island seems to have it. I actually love the franchise ban but hate driving on the left (a problem in Jamaica). Will u rent a car on your return or will public transportation suffice. Does the franchise ban include rental cars? Thanks

Hiii i see you stay on Bermuda Island 😊 I am the traveling Island Hairdresser, do you guys need a Hairdresser on your island? Please let me know, i am from Capetown South Africa, atm i work on Saint Helena Island, i am doing all the islands so i thought i would pop you a message to get some contacts on Bermuda Island 🏝
Excellent. Bermuda is awesome
Thank you!
All recommendations are great and it’s nice that you’ve mentioned there’re no franchise on the island 🏝 I felt it’s only deserve to stay for 2 days in such place.
Great travel tips for Bermuda. I couldn't imagine climbing into a "twizzy" - Lol. We've never been to Bermuda. Makes me miss cruising the Caribbean. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀👍
Thank you! I miss cruising in general these days. And yes - that twizzy was interesting!
Living half and half between Europe and Australia I always forget which way the cars are coming from. I love love love the franchise law. These where great tips. Hopefully when we start travelling again we can check this place out. How long did you stay there for?
Thanks! We were only there for 3 days as part of a cruise. I'd definitely like to go back and spend some more time at the beaches there!
I’m suppose to visit in October 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Oh, I hope you get there!! It's so nice.
J Yay I am also going in October with my wife! Got a great deal on air fare & hotel rates because tourism is way down. Hurricanes could be a problem though. Hurricane Paulette hit Bermuda a few days ago & Hurricane Teddy might be headed toward Bermuda next week!
Excellent video
A great starting point, it is always super important to plan your travel budget in advance! Well, fortunately or not 🤷♀️ but there are no cruises in Bermuda in 2021, so I bet those who are lucky to travel there now can enjoy the most popular travel spots without hundreds of tourists around.
Not true ..I'm actually cruising by carnival Nov 2021

@@TheAverageTourist You are welcome, my friend! Greetings.
Great info! I’ve had Bermuda on my list. This was a great overview and really helpful information. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the tip about remaining seated.
Happy to share
Yeah those cars looked so tiny! Happy to share :)
Haha going to visit my dad in a few days there , my dad lives there
Hope you had a good visit!
The Average Tourist haha still here!
Awesome tips Sara. Very informative. The Twizzie looks so cute. I can imagine me and my hubby driving in that vehicle hehe. Would love to visit Bermuda someday. Very nice place. The beaches are our favorite. Those clear blue waters 😍
Is it warm enough to swim in Bermuda during the months of May and October?
Definitely not October.
Depends, where are you from?
May definitely, October, depends on where you are from
I just went to Bermuda a few months ago and I must say I’m glad I did. My crystal cave experience didn’t look anything like this lol. And of course my experience was different as I didn’t take a cruise there. And yes the island is super expensive and something to be prepared for.
Thanks!
So good to hear! No franchises!👍😎 good tips
Do the beaches have powder like sand and warm water?? 😀
Yes! Not all beaches though
Very helpful= we're going in July
Man I miss my island thanks for doing it justice lol. Currently in Texas!
It's a beautiful island! How is Texas? I've never been.
This was SO great! Bermuda was actually the first time I (Krystal) left the US and it would have been so helpful to know these back then. Would love to go back since it's been a few years. Would love to rent one of those little cars LOL
excellent -- thank you
You are welcome!
Thanks

Foreigners can rent a scooter or electric car only. Public transportation is good.
I live in Costa Rica. I am not afraid of high prices for transportation, food and general cost of living.
Then you may like Bermuda :)
Warwick long bay was beautiful. Then there are about four beaches to explore on either side of Warwick long bay Just stay on the beach snd keep walking. Lots of beautiful beaches in that area
So many incredible beaches. I can't wait to go back and see more.
