- The feet and calves are our base of support in most of our movements.
Introducing Capoeira and sprinting into my practice, I found that they were holding me back - my hips had no problem but my feet were weak and couldn't generate power or hold positions.
Since working on my feet I have found it much easier to express movement patterns such as pivoting, jumping, balancing, kicking.
I used simple but effective tools which strengthened both the calves and feet.
1 - Wall Iso Calf Raise, locked knee
2 - Wall Iso Calf Raise, bent knee
3 - Tibialis Raise
4 - Locked Knee hops
5 - Locked Knee dorsiflexed hops
6 - Low Gait single leg balance
Working in high repetition (20-30 reps) or long time periods (60s - 120s) I found to be right for me.
Remember the dosage can be the cure or the poison so find what is best for you with your current training.

Great video! Came along at the right time for me as I'm having problems with foot strength and tight fascia after attempting to return to running. Going to try some these exercises in my routine, although I'm a bit nervous about jumping and landing straight legged! Thanks for the video - your channel is one of the best when it comes to movement practice.
Yeah man. I was also overlooking the feet in my practice for a long time. There's a lot of material out there which I think can overcomplicate things at first. Working on basic strengthening, along with a standing practice to become aware of pressure distribution, has been super helpful for me. I hope these help you!
