I work for TMC. This is definitely entertaining to watch someone who isn’t TMC and to see them struggle as much as I do. 😂 we’re really all in this thing together, even when it feels like we’re all alone.
Probably one of the most awaited videos on this channel! 😅It'll be lots of fun to watch! Take care and be well Matt!
An older friend who drove he gave me a great idea and I still use it take a pice of 4 inch thin wall pvc pipe cut it a inch longer than the Bungie then hook them to the pipe. Then you have a great way to store you're Bungie s plus the pipe you can pick up and carry easy with the bungies right there . Just a neat little idea that was passed to me ,works great happy hauling good videos.
Now I'm even happier with my boxtrailer! 😄 Nice job Matt 👍 Greetings from Denmark
Presenninger er noget djævlen har skabt! 😂
Uk trucker here .I would
Have put the tarp on first then the straps. The ends of the tarp should be like an envelope ends tie across then the end comes over like an envelope. When I started in the 1970s we used ropes with the dollie knot .Happy days Love your channel.
You’re right , old UK system much better , neater and also a lot tighter , I agree I would have done the ends with the flap on the outside , I’m 75 and still rope and sheeting a lorry and drag in the Scottish highlands, at least with a flat when you’re empty you don’t worry about the 70 mph gales 🤙
Bringing back memories of my few years with J&F trucking back in the mid 1990's! Majority of their loads were tarped, lots of steel and lumber. We carried two sets of tarps on each trailer (48's), one set for steel which were 16' wide and the other set for lumber which were 24' wide.
The worst untarping jobs were lumber deliveries on a wet day/muddy lot, had to roll them up on board the load to keep inside surface clean for the next load.
Well considering I wanna start out pulling a flatbed when I drive this video is very handy. Thx man love the content and the large car, stay safe.
You sure get your exercise. Like everything else you do, looks great!
Just a lil thing bout tarping inside during the winter, if offered try your darndist to say no .... the tarps get warm and you will get ice when you're rollin, or ice rollin on your head at worse, or the corners freeze like cement and cant peel em off........ great vid, great job 👏 👍✌️
I started off with a 40' Flat Trailer & Sheeted that thing for years & I do not miss doing it, finished off with a Curtainsider & Tipper no sheets 👍
Interesting way to attach the trap to the trailer. We used to use rope back in the day. But good video as always. Travel safe.
Good morning. Thank you for the video. I appreciate the attention to detail and not just showing but telling why you do things the way you do. Have an amazing day.
You probably know this already but you can get rubber rope and run it through the d rings on your tarps. Only need like 1/4 the bungees. This brought back bad memories of tarping b-train lumber loads for me. I had to untarp and deliver in -30 one time. Those tarps were like trying to fold plywood haha 😂
A 100 bungee strap s later now it's time to do the other side!😁😁 Nice job ! Stay safe out there!
😂😂😂
Just got my CDL and I'm excited to tarp. Being productive is good for you because your heart is your engine.
That was a workout.. Great job!
Nice wrapping 👌
Looked like a slippery kind of day, was making me nervous watching you walk over that pallet wrap and tarps. Be safe bud 😅
My dude. This video came at the perfect time. I just got a new job hauling lumber. I’ll be watching for any tricks and tips, because this is my first flat bed gig.
Lumber tarps are the same concept just bigger! They fold up a little different too. I want to make a video on wrapping tarps up at some point too
@@callthemall That would be great to see as well. I may also look back at some of your older videos for help on shifting an 18 speed. The last time I drove a manual was when I was in truck school, 7 years ago (10 spd). I’ve been driving automatic since, and I’m a bit rusty.
American beauty
Man I hate tarping you did a great job. Granted those tarps looked lighter than the ones I've used, makes me wish I had those not the thicker ones.
Thank you. Great video. I appreciate your attention to detail for the viewer and for the traveling public.
Glad I don’t have to tarp my flatbed, looks like a lot of extra work. I appreciate you take the time to keep your straps untwisted. I’ll save this video in case I find myself in this situation.
Great-looking tarping young man keep up the good work👍🏼
Awesome video a true professional at work
Great Job Bro, was good to see how its done properly. Like to see how to correctly fold em up. Stay safe Brother
Hard work 💪🚚💨
keep practicing kid youll get it someday, lol.nice job my friend.
Great video.
So good to handle a drybox!!!!!! Have a good one!
I enjoyed the video soooo much!❤
Yo man this video is perfect timing, I'm starting a new gig hauling flatbed between the maritime, Quebec and Ontario next week
OMG. I am definitely trying flatbed. But only after I will be bored of the dry van.
Awesome video thanks Matt.
Very informative, and the result looked great!
I would also be interested in a strapping video if you get the chance.
Keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do!
It’s like throwing a grenade over the truck, sucks when it’s windy.
@@callthemallgreat video
Please be careful that looks slick af
when i pulled trains, i would tie my bungies in a bundle and attach them to the catwalk between the trailers :) saves having a rats nest in the tool box
First time I have seen it done with bungees. Our tarps had rope on them. Then you threw a few over for good measure. Still use rope today on my car trailer and Ute. Never play well with straps and bungees. What you are used to I suppose.
Good morning from Florida USA
Hello there!
Very interesting way of tarping. Totally different to the way we do it in Australia. Tarping is much less common here as we use Curtainsider trailers.
Good job , being organized don’t always mean the job won’t get done ,
In the UK we do something called 'Roping & Sheeting' instead. Starts in a similar way, including folding the front tarp/sheet over the rear one; but then we use ropes with special drag knots to secure the sheets; rather than bungee straps; which to me seem a little less secure with the natural stretchiness in them?. Not at a fun job in the wet though.
Nice job. Used to go with my dad when i was a youngster and help him tarp. He had run rubber rope down the sides of his tarps, then you just hook it to the bar with s-hooks. Still bungie the ends though. He had lumber tarps though, big heavy bastards.
That’s a smart idea!
He’s got a nice day to do this! Remember doing this with alpha hay in Arizona in summer! It’s a workout! You’re going to sweating you’re ass off with hay sticking to you! Then the heat off that tarp. Not fun at all
Sick!
You are one tough SOB doing this all year long in freezing cold canada
This keeps you roasting .
That’s when you wished you had china top trailers load and strap pull the curtains 😂 I was a bin truck driver ya it helped to have your tarp folded right so you were not fumbling around on top of the load in the bin. Having all the bungees organized it didn’t take long to tarp.
Not gonna lie, looked a bit like Stevie Wonder trying to tarp a load. Still love this channel though!!
I heard a star wars Tie Fighter fly overhead. Was I imagining it?
wouldn't a conestoga trailer be much easier to work with?
Sorry, off topic, how's Pete's health? Last I knew still had engine issues as demonstrated by the fuel pressure gauge on the mirror. Ever figure that out for sure?
I fixed about 80% of the issue by removing the fuel pressure gauge. Turns out it was leaking fuel and letting air in. But it still acts up on hard pulls so still some more digging to do!!
What is the idea behind tarping? All other loads in previous videos never had tarps. Is it a requirement of the load? Thanks! just want to keep up Love the vids as always!
I guess it's for the weather. So the load stays nice and dry
Yeah to keep those cement bags dry. They're stored outside in the rain, but you know, need to tarp them anyways.
That's the way it goes usually
Yep cause of the weather gotta keep that cement less than moist!
@@callthemalldoes the customer pay to have the load tarped or is it judgement on your part?
And that’s why a a rope is so much better than bungies
Do you get loads that are an absolute requirement with that trailer setup?
A local account opened up at my company. It is flatbed, 20% tarp loads, M-F 5am to 6am start, 50 hrs/week, $85k a year plus benefits. I’m not sure if it is worth it. This has to be so much harder in the wind, snow, rain. I have never done flatbed though and want to. I feel like the pay should be higher. Is this a rip off?
46K or Super 40 rear ends?
What size tarp are those??
That's a lot of work. Then you have to remove them and get them folded and rolled etc.before unloading. I think I would want to pull enclosed trailers if I were a trucker.
In three years of long-haul driving, I had to tarp twice, as per customer request.
You need a 6 foot tarp so you don’t gotta tarp it’s twice like that. Maybe even a 4 foot would do.
Matt what you think of the 589
I actually don’t mind it as much as I thought I would. Still rather my truck but at least it’s something!
@@callthemall yhh I prefer the 379 and 389, couldn't see myself purchasing a 589 lol. But if anyone wants a brand new truck with a classic old look, they are gonna have to get a W9 though. At least that is what i would do.
Now I know how to tarp but I take it their are bigger tarps the size of building for bigger loads?
Yep lumber tarps drop the full 8’ and regular traps cover just over half the length of a 53’ trailer, these are designed for trains
@@callthemall It would be a hard work out just lifting that to the top of the objects your hauling.
@@JrFlexing909 yep if you are nice to the forklift operator they can lift it up to the top with the forks!
@@callthemall That is very true, if not you will be have a nice work out lifting that up the ladder.
🖐️👋👍😍
I would have tarped first then the straps less the tarp moves
All that time spent learning knots as a Boy Scout wasted !!!!
Now, how the hell do you do that when it is frikin' windy ???
(as I am sure it frequently is during Canadias 13 month winter...)
You must have 6 foot drop tarps lucky.
My ? Is where is his headache rack going to look stupid with what you are hauling in your cab
Mahlzeit
Die Haken hätte ich schon gegen Karabiner getauscht....🙈.....da wirst du ja mürbe im Schädel bei dem gehake.......geht ja gar nicht....🙈🙈 Gruß Matthias
Whatdup driver
Now show us how do it without bungees looking like a f***** rubic cube going down the siderail
Looks like you're doing it out in the cold and rain thats not fun 😕
you might want to do a little exercise the way you're breathing like that! you haven't done shift yet.😂😂😂😂😂
Why wouldn't you have tarps long enough to cover the load instead of using 2 tarps
Because the length of the loads can vary, so the two tarp system makes sure there’s always a properly mounted flap on the front and back 👍
Wow I all that for half the load… so much driving time lost 🥲
Worst part is it delivered less than an hour away 😂😂😅
