I think "haters" should be quantified as people who drop the substance of a criticism in favor of their emotional bias. If a critique is well thought out but harsh, not hating. "You're stupid for liking x, y is overrated, he can't rap", that's "hating". Just my opinion.
A hater is when someone doens't give any reasons they dislike someone and when they want a person to fail just because they don't wanna see someone reach success.....normal people are hated on in life as well 2
The term hating is often used to be dismissive of someone's opinion. Even if someone is correct that you are hating that says nothing about whether you are justified in your hatred.
My understanding is that he never had much money until he began acting. He definitely didn't "start from the bottom" though. He should have called it "Started from the Lower-Middle Class". My response to nate was more directed at Drake being "fake" as in a studio thug, which I have only noticed in Stay Schemin
Good episode! I do agree that this occurs among the younger crowd. I used to accuse people of hating too. When someone idolizes an artist so much and then another person nagatively critiques the same artist, then that person will get upset. It doesnt matter what your reasoning is. Sad but true.
Thank you guys so much for helping me be more open minded about hip hop. You've got me into guys like Tyler and Kendrick Lamar. Plus If I never watched you're videos I'd still be the eminem fan boy I was. ( but em still is a great rapper and in my mind ONE OF the better story tellers in the game)
I like hearing different people perspectives on hip-hop music , it gives me a better understanding of the music and artists. Keep up the good work guys.
"If you call me a hater, conversation is OVER, because that means you're an idiot"...that, THAT, is the quote of the week! A, fuckin, men!! Thank yall for this video!
ive been subscribed to this channel for a while now and i always value and appreciate every one of your conversations and reviews. now to the point. i hate when people use the term hating lol. if someone can say they don't like an artist and not back it up with points then that's just an unsubstantiated opinion. and personal attachment aside... if you can't really step outside of yourself and give your favorite artist an honest critique then that's something personal you need to work out.
A hater says shit maliciously and with no critic in their comment just saying shit to say it. They don't explain their reasoning behind their comment and what the artist can do to change that opinion.
Thank you for choosing to do a video based on my suggestion...Great convo as always...Definitely agree with Myke...if you have your points then you shouldn't be called a hater...it seems that the more popular the artist, the more likely that artist's fanbase will call a legitimate critic a hater...of course the biggest irony of it all is that most people who accuse others of hating, will hate as well...they'll be the first to say that something is wack or has no swag...smh
Glad ya finally made this video! This video on this topic in general is WAY long overdue. I hate ppl calling me a hater cause i dont like something (even tho i made my points to back it up). Plus i know exactly where myke is coming from when ppl are telling him why he doesnt like drake's music. Its like its not good enough to just dislike something, u have to be told why u dont like something and how THIS is the only why to dislike something. Like dont tell me why i dont like something.
Also i would be interested to hear your guy's thoughts on the rapper Childish Gambino. He has an album coming soon but he also has plenty Mix tapes and his popularity is really starting to grow.
@xWFColonel56x That totally makes sense. For real. I can only speak for myself, but I when I say "same ole Wayne" I was thinking that Carter 4 was very similar to Carter 3. But I totally see your point. I just meant, at this stage in his career, people should know what to expect and shouldn't have gotten so upset by what they got from him.
@beezy, c town, kinge, feefo - I like the show because it put things into your perspective. I think the word hating is a strong word that used loosely today. The think the difference between us old heads and the youngsters are there not as diverse as us when it comes to music choice. All they know is what the mainstream is feeding them.
Good video and i know this doesnt really have anything to do with the topic but can we get a Cole World review please. I really wanna hear your guys opinions.
I think the term hater is used when the reason(s) you don't like someone/something can't be explained or understood. If I understand why C-Town doesn't like Drake I would never call him a hater. But if he either has no valid points, or can't articulate them, then the term hater makes more sense to use. If you've listened to enough Drake to form your opinion, then I'll respect it. e.g. How many people say they don't like country music yet have never even listened to it? Great video as always!
@eduardo13rocha Hate is a strong word but it's one that conveys emotion a lot easier for some people. People can really connect to that word a lot faster than most other adjectives used to describe something. Thanks for watching.
Damn, finally someone other than me says it...I get that same shit when I say that Trinidad James, Wocka Flocka, Lil B, Gucci Mane, and Solja Boy are wack as fuck....ITS MY OPINION!!!! Just because I dont like or listen to something doesnt mean Im telling other people not to listen to it.
@SSBMSynikaL Actually, we were using relate able examples to illustrate and speak on the topic. The topic was a recommendation from our viewers. Um, I don't think anyone called you a hater so that kind of throws me off a little bit. Anyway, it's not anything we personally feel. We just had clear cut examples we could draw on for this topic. That's all. Trust me dude. We don't really care.
HA Myke went in on Antiswag! Nice video guys! To me hating is having no basis for not liking whatever the music it is. Critizing is giving reason why something is flawed and how could be improved. People forget that music is subjective. No matter how much you THINK something is great or shitty..it's all about preference at the end of the day.
Review the new JMT album, and a question to @deadendhiphop or @mykectown ...do you guys know about K- Rino? I think you guys should review his latest album(s) "Alien Baby" "The Day of the Storm"...I just wanna see you guys review K-Rino, doesn't matter which album
Personally, I'd say that "hating" is saying something sucks and then never going deeper than that, even if it stems from a valid place. Criticism should be in some way constructive. When you site specific reasons and examples of why you like or don't like something it's criticism. If an artist stumbles across negative reviews of their album, they should become aware of SPECIFICALLY what people aren't feeling, and consider whether or not to work on or change that thing.
This was a great video. I agree'd big time with myke and kbinge about people being attatched to their favorite artists and taking offense when people don't like them.
Hating is when you verbalize your dislike for something or someone that the majority of people have deemed "hot" or "fly" , because the majority feels that you obviously don't get it. Or it can be considered the dislike of something or someone with no reasoning behind your dislike.
To me a hater is someone who is mad that the mainstream hip hop artist that get the shine that lyrical mcs dont like these typical hip hop heads that say "oh man fuck I miss the old days I miss the golden era Im tired of these new generation artist who are rich and all they do is,rap about money ect." Those to me r haters if u just say you dont like it then cool music is subjective but if your that mad then your a hater
@Blackuno3 Did you even listen to why we did this video? Dude, we don't care what people think about what we say. Anyway, that's for commenting and watching.
Lol.. i'm with C Town. Anytime i'm debating music with someone and they unjustifiably throw the word "hater" at me, i just end it right there. That's a clear sign that they either have no point to argue or they just don't possess the skills to express themselves in an intelligent way. Either way, it's not worth the effort. lol
In my world, there is no such thing as hating...the only time I guess someone would fall into the hater category is if they disliked an artist/album because it wasnt "cool" anymore...and also if they were basing their opinion of an album on other albums they had heard in the same genre, and not giving an artist a chance...there is no rule which says anyone has to like anything, hater is really a throwaway comment in my books...I also agree with the idea of hating on the person and thus the music
@JuggerTrainUK Yeah, the Wayne comparison is kinda unfair. It's just his voice. I don't think he sounds like him musically and his verses/punchlines are WAY better than Wayne's. Plus, I like his honesty. I'm really looking forward to his album.
@mykectown Glad to hear it, I am big fan myself. But I am quite surprised that you like his stuff C Town, I have always found him to be kind of similar to Lil Wayne, and i know how you feel about Wayne lol.
Subjective reasoning can be completely legitimate; also you guys and most critics give a reasonably balanced view on an issue. All I can say is - DON'T FEED THE TROLLS.
i'll leave this topic to PackFM, cause he addressed it best... "at the end of the day, stand by your statements/ if i don't like it, i don't like it, that don't mean hatin'".
You guys should pay no attention to people who think you're 'haters'. You're making videos based on your opinions and thoughts. People think you're hating because you said something is whack or whatever, and don't realise its freedom of speech, these narrow minded people shouldn't even be watching your videos if they think your 'hating'. On a brighter note, keep up the good work DEHH! All the way from UK...peace
@sdofik i think its sad that despite all these advances in technology, which enable us to discover quality music, the majority of my generation is interested in listening to corporate approved artists backed by major labels worried about big and fast profits. I really believe 2011 will go down as a strong year for hip hop releases but most of them have gone unnoticed. except for "hipster/yuppy" bloggers, who ironically are not the intended audience or fan base many artists desire.
@deadendhiphop The higher you all get, the more people are going to get jealous. I see success for yall, so get mentally prepared for the haters. The best weapon is to ignore them. I know I am, unless they have more status than me.
@kingemedia Back in the day you could say something bad about Mr. P. He's one of the ones I study and he said that if he could do it over again, he wouldnt be in the spot light because people were criticizing him for not keeping it hood because he left and making comments about what he wasnt doing for the hood and I remember others saying he got rich off of saying he's a soldier. They'll always be haters for every last person standing, not because they hate them but because of their status
@Narkami I see what you're saying...but don't you think that's a little unreasonable to expect that? I mean, if someone asks you why you don't like an artist you really sit and break down every verse? That's impossible in a spontaneous convo. Especially when you hear someone and just plain don't like them. I don't memorize Wacka Flocka verses, but I don't feel like I am being ridiculous by saying "I think he sucks." People just don't argue that because it's a common sentiment.
@jswilliams669383will Right. I don't know how hating became so popular but you know what I think it is. I think once rappers started using it, it took over and became mainstream within itself.
I think hating is when you go beyond disagreeing/disliking the content of the music on its own merit. When you start to take personal shots at the artist themselves rather than the music, then to me that's hating.
So if I say I don't like wayne because he doesn't rap like Nas is that hating?Or do I have to break it down all the way and say I don't like that he raps randomly?.Am I not a head because I can get Inspectah Deck instantly but someone like Jay Elect or Doom makes me scratch my head do I have the right to call it wack because its my opinon, can i say based off that he is better than those two and not be a hater? Why are their terms such as backpacker and HH head or "mainstream addict" and hater?
Hater is a word that gets thrown around way to much these days. So much that when you Criticize something People automatically pull the hater card out.
@520REDemption2 Haha! No offense at all! But I agree with dude below. Feefo's would HAVE to be "I can ride to it." And I thought my best quote was "Shit to a booger?" It's all love, man.
dear dead end hip hop, am i the only one who is annoyed when hip hop fans are eager to say "album of the year" for albums such as carter 4, cole world, watch the throne when at tops they have only listened to snippets of a few mixtapes and singles from various artists on blogs. I respect that you guys are taking the time to listen to all these 2011 hip hop releases and review them. for now i will ignore these ignorant "music" fans and wait for the albums that make yall's end of the year list.
I don't blame them for trying to get their money either, but if they have to constantly rap about bitches & hoes & money, fine, BUT if they can't at least be more lyrical about it & more clever then fuck 'em. A lot of them are just saying the same generic shit 100's of other southern rappers have said before. They can do SOME of the same but they just copy TOO damn much from styles like UGK, 3-6 Mafia, T.I., and Jeezy w/ all that "im in the trap","look at my rims",codeine in styrofoam cup, etc.
damn, i wish i could come down! let me know how the event goes!
It went great. How are you?

Nice Common reference. (Song he referenced was The Light, look it up, gud song)

This was a great video. I agree'd big time with myke and kbinge about people being attatched to their favorite artists and taking offense when people don't like them.
whats the beat during the hip hop minute i like it
Who did c town say was bad?
@deadendhiphop Myke has the right definition of hating right! When you dislike an album or an artist without ever listening to it.
i think you guys should do "artistry v. technicalskill/lyricism"
Hating is when you verbalize your dislike for something or someone that the majority of people have deemed "hot" or "fly" , because the majority feels that you obviously don't get it. Or it can be considered the dislike of something or someone with no reasoning behind your dislike.
Please review J-Live: SPTA (Said Person of That Ability) Just dropped today and it's at the least as dope as anything this year.

You guys should review that new Domo Genesis - Under the Influence
