As a dermatologist who is frequently called upon to treat different animals, I would make the following observations:
1. The cyst is technically described as “an epidermoid inclusion cyst.” The material contained is principally keratin.
2. The tool used to lance the cyst should always be sterile which in this case it didn’t appear to be.
3. The incision was way too large and required sutures or Steri strips to prevent infection.
4. The wound should have been bandaged again to prevent infection.
5. The “freezing spray” should always be held at least 6 inches from the surface to void a “burn.””
Completely agree with you. That poor creature was crying out in pain. How on earth can one make such a huge incision and then not even stitch and bandage it up 😡. Poor little thing.
That was awful to watch. I totally agree and would recommend a vet do it.
Thank you.
The stuff was so thick and hard to get out already tho, even with the larger cut. Would u have irrigated it? Perhaps they let it be opened and packed it with an antibacterial gel so that it can drain
Him crying shows he's in pain!
You are so gentle with this guinea piggy. ❤❤❤
Thank you
Lyn, why do the vets insist on putting the piggies under full anaesthesia if it's not necessary? This is really not good! 😡
His little piggy noises are so precious, but we hear how frightened he is. I want to hug him!
You are so amazing them ❤️❤️
Sometimes full anaesthesia is needed. I have already received birds with post traumatic disorders because of people who performed procedures with few or none anesthesia. There are things that don't need full anesthesia, but for some especies or in particular situations we may need it. 😊
The cries…. I’m crying for him/her. 🥹♥️
Well behaved cutie ❤
The "sac" needs to be removed so it won't come back... but you are very sweet with the little piggies! ❤
I was thinking the same. Hmm...Perhaps she inadvertently referred to the lump as a cyst when she really had intended to call it an abscess. Oh well.
@@TubingTherapy That's not an abscess. It isn't infected. Sebacious cysts are just filled with yellowish, oily material. They can get infected, but so can other body parts.
Second set of hands would be helpful
Guinea pigs are so cute ❤
I think so too
You handle them so well and I wish I had of been as knowledgeable and confident as you when I had these little compainions. Thank you for showing people how to give thier pets a better life with easy management. Stay safe.
Oh poor little guy. You were so gentle
Poor baby!
Thank you for loving them so much
Again....started watching Minecraft tutorials, went to the Hoof GP for no known reason then again find this lovely lady caring for a lovely little guinea pig. Can anyone explain how this happens? Not that I mind. Love watching people who actually love and care for animals.
UA-cam was being weird for a while where if you had auto play on or even just watched a bit of a video UA-cam would think that’s why your interested in
@@torakunoichi oh no it wasn’t auto play. It was one of the videos that randomly displayed under the video I was watching. Either way tho it was totally worth it :)
@@WaynesWorld69 yep that’ll do it just clicking on random stuff basically
I find this sorta stuff gross but fascinating a coworker and I were watching dr pimple popper and it was like 🤢🧐by the end of the day
@Wayne Morgan UA-cam uses algorithms to pick what looks like random videos for your feed. Think back on some of the videos you watched before these came up. Probably had some connection.
For me it was hoof gp, sandi Brook (sheepishly me) and now I'm here 🤣
7:26 all ways talk softly to animals to keep them calm
I've never seen anyone more gentle or caring towards these beautiful little creatures. I believe everything done is for their benefit and longevity.
Cookie : "I didn’t ask for this f’n hair cut!"
Such a beautiful little baby with pink eyes.
This is my Guinea pig and he has passed away yesterday and I was looking at this video to remind me off him , he was gorgeous and thank you for writing such a sweet comment about him
Such sweet, caring treatment of these babies. This does my heart ❤💙💜good!
He needs a cookie after that 🤗
Awww, when he ran right into your arms, bless him ❤️❤️❤️
This little pig has had good care. He is so trusting. While being shaved he seems to kind of like it.. like a massage
This is my Guinea pig named cookie and he has recently been put down and he had the best life, we always cuddled him and he is extremely affection and he always used to lick me
Awh what a brave piggy 🥺
I've heard a lot of critters affectionately referred to as furry potatoes but Guinea pigs look like they could *literally* be furry potatoes!
Poor piggy 😢❤
Poor little guy!
Why didn't you numb it? She could probably still feel the effects of the cut even with the freeze spray. Poor baby.
Yes she is so gentle and caring
This is an interesting video on removing a sebaceous cyst from a guinea pig. It reminded me of the fact that over 30 years ago I developed a sebaceous cyst in my scalp which was removed by a surgeon. In my case an area of hair was shaved off around the cyst. Then a local anesthetic was injected in the area. Then the doctor made a couple of incisions, removed the cyst and then stitched up the area. It was a fairly quick procedure.
Omg, when he wheeted into the microphone 😍🥰
He is adorable
beautiful ❤👍
that was sweet
That clipper needs replacing. Its too dull. You risk the plate getting hot and burning the little one. Better to upgrade to a better tool.
Hit the like button folks. It’s helpful to Cavy Central 👍🏼
Piggies are so cute.
I love the cute little piggy xoxox
What a great little guy ❤️
Did you ever hear of lidocaine & a Vet? Gotta remove that sac woman! He is such a cutie-patootie!
OMG , you keep saying he cannot feel the pain. You used a topical spray to numb the surface, the cyst is deep. Now how are you going to get the sack out so it does not come back.
For real, poor lil guy should have had this done by professionals at the vets.
The sack of the cyst needs to be removed to prevent it from coming back. Also the wound is going to need stitches or otherwise it could get infected. Please let the doctor do it the next time! Maybe not under full sedation but just a little bit plus pain medication so the poor soul won't feel anything.
Yes! Should be done at a vet clinic by a professional. This is cruel in my opinion.
this is only for 'true cysts' which you do not know is the case with this. unfortunately your Dr. pimple popper videos are not a replacement for medical education.
@@nataliepaso What kind of cyst is this then? As far as I am aware a cyst is created by a sack under the skin where dead skin cells keep shedding into. Without removing the cyst wall it would just fill up over time again. So I'm not sure what you mean by 'true' cysts and this one. Is it different for different animals? Humans are mammals just like guinea pigs. We're all animals with similar issues at times.
So I would love to hear more about what made this cyst different from other cysts. 😉
I do think that she should have treated the incision area better; even if it was just with glue as now it looks like it can get infected really easily. I assume the cold spray was just to make the area somewhat insensitive and to have the blood vessels contract in order to prevent it from making a mess. Personally I believe a local anesthetic would have been preferable compared to freezing it. But I'm not an expert yet I am willing to learn more. Hence why I watch all these videos.
@@DanakarEndeel exactly that 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I completely agree. The piggie should be given light or local anesthesia so you can properly remove the cyst walls and what not.
This is nothing more than a temporary superficial fix
Lyn, I love how you talk to him!
Bless your kind heart.
Thank you Ingrid
He is so cute. So chill.
The sac needs come out or it will come back
Awe poor sweet thing
Why isn’t he given some sort of numbing??
Maybe next time a carrot or lettuce to snack on to keep them occupied. Such a sweet little critter and I'm happy to see there are people like u out there that take care of them.
I know that’s not hurting. I’m betting it’s aggravating the crap outta him. Lol!!! He’s a sweet boy. I’ve always thought piggies were mean, but yours all seem really sweet (yours being the ones you help). I appreciate all you do for them.
It definitely caused pain!!
I removed a similar size cyst from one of my piggies.. between her ears on the back of her head… no anaesthetic needed…. (But I also made no actual incision)…
I just plucked the hair ever so gently till there was a bald patch and then lightly squeezed … the gunk was black and grey though.. same consistency though….
(It’s never come back and it’s been a few years).
if only dealing with UTI’s was as easy… (I’ve just got another one of my girls over a UTI). But that required medication from the vet.
Why don’t you use numbing medication so the puncture isn’t as painful. Such as something like lidocaine ?
You need to get the sac out or the cyst returns.
I got toe surgery the other day and they did most the numbing with that frozen air.
Did you give him a treat for being such a good boy? He knows you're trying to help him so he's not complaining too much . It's scary for him to be squeezed but I think he'll be happy with it gone.
Sebacious cysts don't hurt, and they aren't bad for health. It's just a cosmetic issue. I doubt he will notice the difference once he recovers from his fright.
Refreeze! Refreeze! Refreeze! PLEASE!!!!!
He definitely felt when you squeeze it it hurts when it gets squeezed to idk how you can say he didn't feel that....you did great but those comments you made about him not feeling it upset me when you're just touching it of course it won't bother him but when the extraction is done it definitely hurts just like when us humans have a cyst it's the same feelings for him as us think of it that way if you can 😉😄 ....butt very good job with him you did very well
Right. That poor little guy felt that 🥺
She’s not a vet. She has a lot of animals and it’s a rescue which im sure makes it difficult to pay to have them seen for every little thing. She is doing the best she can with what she has to work with.
I appreciate the job she does, as gentle as possible. Realizing that she’s not a vet and can’t inject pain medication, (no criticism) there definitely is pain.
I don't know if you've ever had dental work done, but it's an interesting experience. you will feel no pain, but at the same time, you can distinctly feel the sensation of pressure against your gums and mouth as the Dentist works. It doesn't *hurt*, but you can feel that something is happening. WHen I was a lot younger, I actually had a relatively major mouth surgery that involved cutting significantly into my gums, and it was literally done before I realized it had started. I'd felt pressure and assumed that they were preparing the area, or something.
That is, I believe, what she means. He can feel the pressure and that's scary. but it's not pain. He's jsut distressed. Of course being distressed is also bad, but it is the lesser evil in this case.
@@rachelmonday2907 Then she shouldn't worry about cosmetic issues. Sebacious cysts are not a medical problem.
I had 2 piggy's, one died after only 3 years unexpectedly, the other lived 3 years longer. I was told when I got them they generally lived 3-5 years, so I wasn't exactly shocked by the death, but as I looked further into cavy history, it seems they can live much longer. I was saddened by that because it left me wondering why the first one died after after such a short time. I would never get another now, I have cats, so they are definitely out of the question! Still not clear on their lifespan after all these years.
I’ve had lots of Guinea pigs and a strong biology background: some piggies die after just a couple of years, some live up to like 8 years. It can vary WILDLY. I think there’s a ton of inbreeding with a lot of them and that really messes up the average lifespan measurements of these cuties overall. If you give your piggies good quality food and lots of love, then they’re living their best life. ❤❤❤
@@karenhawkin4588 Thanks!
Awww🥺
Do you realize that most likely the cyst will refill especially since the sack or Capsule hasn't been removed?
What is the orange fluid used to coean the wound?
It's obviously sore because every time he squeezed it and or touched it he squealed so saying that he can't feel it is really doesn't make sense.
I don’t understand why they never have holding help of these babies. It just prolongs the treatment of wrestling with them to get them to stand still..and I really don’t think that cold spray helps numb the location. They still cry and try to get away..
Was there a local anaesthetic administered before this was done?
Poor little one. It would work better and pain free if she gave anesthesia 😱🥺😭
Hmm she is pain free but there is also a risk with anaesthesia
It was hard to watch. I use to raise them. I know you tried to be gentle. But that did hurt him. I wish you would of given him something better to numb it.
how often do you get bit? He was quite frightened, surprised he didn't bite
Get the gp a decent glass eye!
Did she even numb it?
Did you numb cookie before removing cyst?
Hold the Guinea pig still or have one hold it for you.
what is that you use to numb the incision area? where do you get it?
Poor little guy was having none of it! Very talkative, handsome boy. I get confused on cysts and abscesses. No antibiotics on this?
Cysts are filled with just dead skin cells, abscess are infections and filled with pus (white blood cell/ dead cells bacteria caused) and require antibiotics.
A cyst is a collection of dry skin and gunk underneath. An abscess is bacterial usually from an infection
An abscess is an infection, a cyst is just a build up of skin, oils etc.
@@kristymay9435 The cyst was harmless and painless. She really should have left it alone, since it's just a cosmetic issue.
It's clearly hurting pig as he is squealing, he must be able to feel it otherwise he wouldn't be making any noise at all.
You have to remove the sac 😮
Wrong - go and check the update!!!
I hope there are some decent clippers on your Amazon Wish list ( blatant plug) as those ones are terrible 🤣
5:00
Nothing for the pain
Why do they get cysts/blackheads? Is there a reason for it?
Can't it take any type of anesthesia? I guess it's painful to do it without any. Also I guess it would be better for the animal perform the procedure in a sterile table?
I'm no doctor, but if I was the pacient it would be basic things I'd like to have lol
Is the animal blind
May I make a suggestion to set your camera further back. Because of his scared movement he is out of frame for most,of the video.
Is he blind, or are his eyes really that color?
Hiya this is my Guinea pig who recently passed away and he had a eye infection that wouldn’t dissapear, he was blind and he didn’t feel any pain x
DONT FORGET THE SACK OR IT WILL GROW BACK 😊😊😊
It might be a little sore.
Why do so many get cysts and/or abscesses?
Cysts are harmless and painless. Abscesses are dangerous infections and painful.
They are a delicacy in South America!!
But , I didn't bring any crackers ...............
Seem to be in a lot of discomfort I don’t think putting them under gas for a few minutes would’ve done any harm I think it would’ve been a lot easier obviously he’s running around it’s hard to do that maybe if you had extra hands but he definitely seemed to be in pain
He’s in pain
Mostly all you can see is her gloves. Should have had a person who focused on the guinea pig instead of the woman's gloves
She squeezed the cyst just like the acne without doing any further treatments, so weird.
Sebacious cysts aren't painful or dangerous to health. Just unsightly.
When they are not open and growing and small, they are not painful. However they will get to a point where they rupture, and are then open to infection. This is causes secondary issues like becoming fly blown. I have also seen ones that are so large and uncomfortable that they obscure the normal movement which must bother the animal.
May be unsightly but they will definitely become a problem if left alone!
Nobody likes the freeze gun. Have you had done for one reason or another? It burns and really hurts
I had the "freeze gun" for my hand and wrist. It didn't hurt or burn. Just felt nothing but the shots which hurt more even with the numbing drug.
He seems uncomfortable
NO ANASETIC
What an absolutely appalling procedure…That poor little soul was deeply distressed.
He should have been taken to a vet…
A nurse to hold him…
The area anaesthetised…
A sterile lance used…
The sac removed to prevent its return…
And the wound stitched.
This is shocking + the woman needs to be reported to the Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals!
This is my Guinea pig called cookie who has recently passed. She was absalouty incredible with him and we can’t thank her enough for what she did. He came home the and cyst never grew back. She is the most caring soul ever especially with Guinea pigs .
It hurts when you squeeze it. Imo this is cruel.
These creatures are not supposed to live this long in their natural life, and they are not supposed to eat much, so they suffer from terrible and strange diseases and usually have strange deaths.
😢
are you a vet ? are you qualified to perform surgery ?? surely the cyst sac needs removing to stop it filling again.....i remember seeing you remove a cheek cyst on another video prior to this and i was horrified....STOP..
