Likely this should have about 400-500ish points in there, and hopefully doesn't overlap with the old or new combat patrol too much.
Super excited for it! With that being said, which aspect warriors do you think will release along side the codex release? My club is doing a crusade and we’re in that 1k point phase right now. I think I have a decent list, but I haven’t played much 10th and I need to figure out how to pilot the thing.
A few issues with this list, the biggest being that it lacks an autarch. Autarch is the same cash prace as a warlock/farseer skyrunner and much, much, much more important for your army. It's currently the only character with a warlord bonus besides Yvraine and Troupe Master. Farseer skyrunners offer up little to nothing for windriders because the farseer doesn't pass along any passive bonuses, and giving units hit rerolls doesn't really matter for the windriders as they already do that, and you already have one Farseer converting fate dice into sixes. Windriders hit on 3s and reroll hit rolls of 1 against the nearest target. If the nearest target is on an objective, you get full hit rerolls. Autarchs can be paired with your guardians of which you have quite a few, and because autarchs are fewer points, you can use different enhancements. Do not put Fate's Messenger on a Farseer, they do not have the firepower to justify it, nor the importance. They can run reader of the runes to reroll your fate dice. Autarchs you can give the Phoenix Gem or Fate's messenger. Stick your autarch with the guardian defenders and hunker down in the back. You generate CP and fate dice for just hanging out on the home objective. Windriders you could run in sets of 3 and 9 with the 9 group maximizing value from bladestorm, but you're probably better off with two groups of 6 to mitigate wound spillover and improve your board control. Plus being over 6 models changes your coherency requirements, so it's less awkward to cluster them together. Windriders have bases much smaller than the model, and if your unit has more than 6 models, they have to be within 2" of 2 other models. This becomes very difficult to do with the way they bump into each other.
@@Rehteal did you watch the video? I talk about the missing Autarch- and that particular list is not my suggestion for a competitive 1k list; it's the most affordable way to get 1k of space elves on the table for casual games
@@WBConcilio That comment is in direct response to the list in the description and an explanation on it, more of me talking to other commenters than a response to the video. Also an Autarch is *the same dollar price* as a farseer skyrunner, so regardless of trying to be competitive, it doesn't matter, the pricepoint doesn't move. Also you can choose to run the autarch as a flying autarch if you want because the on-foot kit includes a warp spider pack, so you're getting more dollar value out of it. I super don't recommend that people do this for their first 1k army, but if you want to fill out your points with minimal cash investment, the Yncarne is currently more than 6 points per dollar.
Would personally run the foot Autarch. With the Guardian Defenders in the backfield for extra CP, the free overwatch and a howling banshee mask for fights first.
Thank you always for you insights, Brent! Just wanted to share that if a three-man windrider squad has just one bike with twin shuriken catapults instead of a third shuriken cannon, the squad will be able to score secondary objectives after advancing. For newer players, this is because the twin shuriken catapult has the assault keyword. The trade-off is you lose a bit of damage, but I think getting to move d6 more inches to reach a secondary objective and score more victory points is worth it for a squad who's primary role is to do that.
As of the Pariah Nexus release, you can no longer do actions after advancing even if you have the assault keyword, so it doesn't really help with secondaries anymore. So I remain a fan of the three sharkin cannons
List doesn't apply to me as I was lucky enough to get a Eldritch omens box with my Combat Patrol but a great start! I'm getting those last few points for my 1k
"have to buy glue and paints" but that is usually a long term purchase. Glue, a paint gun, a set of paints clippers and a file should last you more than a single battleline, let alone multiple combat patrols. If the audience for this video really is new players stepping into the hobby in late 2024, I’d avoid recommending anything that currently lacks a plastic kit or any of the aging light vehicle kits. This is the edition where we’ve seen more old kits move to legends than new kits be introduced. The new codex will bring refreshed plastic kits for some stuff , but, odds are, we’ll lose stuff as well. If you’re just starting, I’d avoid anything that’s likely to be replaced or removed in a few months.
I must be bad at math. I so much prefer the Warlock Skyrunner... being able to rerolled all to hit dice on the right target seems stronger. Also keeping outside of 12" with Stealth or turning agressive and stripping cover?
@@danielb8533 The Warlock Skyrunner lets you ignore cover. The farseer SkyRunner is the one that lets you reroll all the dice on the hit roll- which I agree is amazing. I sometimes run both the Warlock Skyrunner and the farseer SkyRunner in the same squad at 2,000 points, but at 1,000 points I prefer to strip cover with a viper
@WBConcilio The Windriders rerolled hits of 1 or full reroll hits on Objective markers all by them selves, making the Farseer some what redundant no? The warlock can give the unit Stealth OR remove cover from a target.
@@danielb8533 only if the target is on an objective marker, and when using Windriders for Target elimination you can't bet on that- especially if you want access to the OverWatch trick. Also, in the event that the target is on an objective marker and you don't need to trigger Guide, the way the ability is phrased, you can put guide on something else and just use swiftimize for the windriders
@WBConcilio Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I just personally like sitting at 23" shooting 18 medium infantry Sustained rounds without being able to be shot back. Rerolled 1s against anything but Rerolled all hits on those pesky Objective holders. Personal preference I guess.
I played 2000 points against Guard. Rarely have I lost a game so badly. I'm relatively new to 40k but the matchup against Guard seems almost impossible to win. Would you like to make a video about the Eldar's tough matchups like Guard, GSC, Grey Knights and Thousand sons? That would be really helpfull :-) thx
I haven't played that matchup a lot, and while I do think gearing too much toward a single faction as you're listbuilding is a bit lame, if you do struggle a lot vs guard, here's a couple picks I think could really help: For taking care of their tanks: Make sure you have either a few Bright Lances and a Farseer or 2 to make those big 8 Damage hits happen, or 2x Fire Prisms could be great too. The double rerolls on both hits and wounds, flat 6 damage, linked fire + fire & fade makes it so that these should do a decent job at killing Tanks and staying alive while doing it. Their alternate profile is pretty great vs big Infantry blobs as well. For countering Infantry: Some of the "worse" weapon/unit options are pretty great. Aquilons hate Dire Avengers in the backfield cause of their ability to hit on 4+ on Overwatch. Scatter Lasers can clear out hordes rather well. Some of the good multi-purpose Infantry is great as well. Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks rinse Guard infantry, but are susceptible to Indirect Fire. If they do have a ton of Indirect: Transports! Wave Serpents and Falcons protect your squishy infantry on the way to their targets, and both sport some pretty effective anti-tank weaponry. Again, keep a farseer nearby to swap in those auto sixes from your low fate dice on the damage to their vehicles, then unload those Avengers, Scorpions, Banshees etc that are all pretty great infantry blenders.
I found Fire Dragons and Fuegan staged properly worked really well against Bullgryn. Forcing the invuln. save and doing enough damage to negate the -1 damage and FNP. If you can get the Avatar of Khaine into their gunline, AoK will rip it apart. Shadow Spectres and Hawks with Baharroth can jump out of cover, smash the infantry and hide again. I used double Lynx (4 S16 shots AP3 D d6 plus Shuriken cannon or Bright Lance if you want) and double hornet into Guard in my last game. Hornets move fast and hit hard, you could sub in Skyweavers or Warwalkers. Fire Prisms for the Lynxes. Wraith Guard are lethal into the tanks as well but, must be screened. Some of the lighter tanks like Chimeras are only toughness 9 so a Falcon offers volume of fire and can carry dragons to get in close with the tanks or Scorpions/Banshees to take down the disembarked infantry.
Its Ironic you bring this up as I play Guard and Aeldari. Both are fragile forces with squishy units that require transports to keep them mobile and safe. Both use indirect fire and heavy fire power for target ilimination and both require finess and synergy between units to succed. But Aeldari have a Deamonic unit and better looking models 😅
I'm just starting Aeldari as Craftworld Ulthwé and just got my hands on the combat patrol the other day! It's a shame to hear the wraithlord is pretty underwhelming right now. 😢 I'd love to be able to run a horde of guardians (themed as Black Guardians), but I get the impression that they wouldn't be able to hold their own when run enmasse? I guess it might be wiser just to utilize windriders and walkers if I want to see black guardians on the table thematically? Pretty excited about the faction and hope the codex will encourage running units thematic for Ulthwé!
FLUFF IYANDEN LIST 975pts Farseer Spiritseer X 2 Defenders Storms Shroud Runners 5 Blades 5 Guards 1 Lord Low model count, hard hitters with some utility units. Defenders create dice. Storms won't have to hold obj and can draw the enemy onto the obj for the hard hitters to eliminate. Shrouds will enable other units to fire more effectively. Wraiths do wraith things.
Because we cannot and should not have to wait for a codex for an edition. I beleive we ars being held to ransom by game developers who have forgotten the fundamentals of game design.

What about some diversity for the 1k list going Ynniari? 1 Dark Eldar box and 1 Eldar box with a Yrvaine
@@Naddabeht you totally could go that route
Swift Demise
Kinda between an eldar army and khorne army. So this vid is a helpful reference
I haven't played that matchup a lot, and while I do think gearing too much toward a single faction as you're listbuilding is a bit lame, if you do struggle a lot vs guard, here's a couple picks I think could really help:
For taking care of their tanks: Make sure you have either a few Bright Lances and a Farseer or 2 to make those big 8 Damage hits happen, or 2x Fire Prisms could be great too.
Long time eldar main, I prefer 1k games tbh, quicker and more manageable than 2k. More fun
9 min in and we finally start talking about actually building the army😅
Good tips though, don't get me wrong
@@derekkorschinowski9294 I just have a certain style- it's not quick and I get that it's not to everyone's taste.
I'm just starting Aeldari as Craftworld Ulthwé and just got my hands on the combat patrol the other day!
It's a shame to hear the wraithlord is pretty underwhelming right now. 😢
I'd love to be able to run a horde of guardians (themed as Black Guardians), but I get the impression that they wouldn't be able to hold their own when run enmasse? I guess it might be wiser just to utilize windriders and walkers if I want to see black guardians on the table thematically?
Pretty excited about the faction and hope the codex will encourage running units thematic for Ulthwé!
@@somerton4383 if you email me using my website, I will send you an Ulthwe horse list that isn't bad

For the Craftworld!
Why dont u wait for codex with this bro?😊
@@GrimgorRulez because people have been asking for it like crazy. We will revisit in six months
Well I am looking forward to it
Because we cannot and should not have to wait for a codex for an edition. I beleive we ars being held to ransom by game developers who have forgotten the fundamentals of game design.
