well personally im a penn state fan and was at beaver for the FIU game and it was a madhouse there.. after the game when that last kick was blocked, the stadium was louder for that then the whole game.. that. the tailgaters screaming.. thank you sweet revenge. so much for michigan winning the big 10. but thanks to APPALACHIAN STATE for kicking Michigans ass for the big 10! we all appreciate it.
I'm from Fayetteville, NC and I could hear Boone all the way from here lol. Now, the only way Michigan will get to the National Title game is if they buy tickets.
Congrats on the big W! I was at BW3 watching the game and i don't ever remember the bar being that loud. It was amazing. I wish I had a video of the crowd to post.
I was watching this in Boone at my parents house (we didn't even realize we got the Big 10 network until the 2nd quarter) and we were going absolutely bananas. It was great.
I'm a longhorn and although we hate oklahomo. we secretly wish they would be unbeaten so when we kick their ass in Dallas the first weekend in Oct. annually, it will be on a grand stage and it will help our rankings etc. Wow! I guess you buckeyes want mich. to lose every game they play. now that's some serious hate right there. I respect yall's rivalry.
@Multikill51, the most embarrassing part wasn't that you lost to ASU, its that you scheduled at team that you thought you could beat by 50 points and instead they beat you on your own stadium. You paid ASU $400,000 to come up ASU for a tuneup game and they beat you. Pretty much from this point on this is where Michigan went down the tubes for the last 3 years.
Because it's a rivalry, genius. Although, really, considering OSU has owned Michigan's asses so thoroughly the past several years, I'm thinking we may need to start considering Wisconsin our new rival. They've been more difficult to beat than Michigan lately. And as for the video... *happy sigh* Michigan losing to a 1-AA squad is still a thing of beauty, even almost ten months later.
I never could understand the "Big 11" joke. I mean we've got Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue, and Illinois I only count 10.
I heard of 'em if you watch the Longest Yard with Adam Sandler he mentions them as a team they used to warm up against in College. Poor Michigan's pride was pretty well crushed that day and I just get the feeling that they don't have the same amount of pride comming into this season that they usually do. Not that I feel sorry for them!
Thanks man, as you can tell I am a Michigan State fan. The spartans are heading in the right direction. MSU and OSU are going to battle for Big Ten titles. I don't care if MSU comes in second to OSU every time because I have a lot of respect for Tressell. He knows how to kick scUM's ass!!! Dantonio is going to do it too. Can't wait for the 2008 season to begin!!! PS Back in '91 and '92 when MSU lost to Central, at least CMU is a Div. 1 school and not a subdivision 1AA.
If you were from columbus you would understand. Looking at the sad pathetic faces of the michigan fans is far better than any amount of respect for our conference.
i was at that game too. We looked horrible. Even though the numbers leaned our way, the stars aligned just right for ASU. Regardless, they deserved the win ...congrats
Not true. Shawn Crable was the one who allowed Lynch to get through and block the field goal... The same Shawn Crable who gave the Buckeyes a lifeline last year with that late tackle on Troy Smith. He's from Massillon but I'm glad he chose to go to Michigan over Ohio State.
Appalachian State is located in Boone, N.C. Their mascot is named Yosef. (he bears a bit of a resemblance the Wake Forest Demon Deacon or the Vanderbilt Commodore)
You didn't say that before. Mark D'Antonio is a good coach but have you seen the ad where he tells people to ask their cable companies for the Big Ten Network? In those he sounds like a hostage.
11-2 is not a bad season. I'm proud of the Buckeyes and what they accomplished this year...3 straight Big Ten titles, 3 straight BCS Bowl game appearances, 3 straight 10+ win seasons, 3 straight Top 5 finishes...not every program can win it every year, and the Buckeyes will be contending for Big Ten and BCS titles next year.
@spiritualaccent Appalachia definitely outplayed us that day. We just expected a cupcake and couldn't come back before time ran out. It straight up happened. I don't mind because we were men against boys playing Florida between their National Championships and with the current Heisman winner and it wasn't even close. But if you'll pay attention you'd see that Michigan twice passed on Les Miles who has a Michigan only opt-out clause on his contract. They interviewed many and offered only once.
I think that used to be the case Dave, but now not only does it count towards Str. of Sched., BCS conference teams are penalized a point against their str. of sched. score for playing a 1-AA school.
At least they WENT to the national championship. scUM lost to APP. STATE, and pretty much damn near everyone they have played the last 2 years. INCLUDING the loss yesterday to OSU!!!!!! GO BUCKS!!!! MUCK FICHIGAN!!!!!!!!
Dude, did you hear Sparty's on the cover of NCAA Football 09 for the Wii, and the Nittany Lion came in tenth. I could have been the difference maker. Oh well, at least it was a Big Ten team that I could actually root for from time to
I was at that game. It was very embarassing at how unprepared Michigan was. The Mountaineers flat outplayed us and played with much more emotion. They deserved the win. My hats off to Mountaineers. It will be a long season. ANyone know of any good field goal kickers available??
Michigan is going to Disney World! I can't wait to see Hart and Henne wearing Mickey Mouse ears. The look will be priceless; "I passed up the NFL for this!?"
@Multikill51 That's the excuse of every Mishitgan fan. Who cares what App. State did in Division 2? That's like a major league baseball team trying to justify losing to the team that won the college world series. It just shouldn't happen. There's a reason they went from #5 in the nation to UNRANKED after this loss. They're the first and only team to ever have gone from being ranked in the top 5 to unranked in one week.
GREAT video. but its said app- a - la - chun . theres no lay in appalalachian. i hope now that weve gotten some recognition for our astounding football team we should at least have our universities name said correctly. but great video!
I call this "The Gettysburg of college football" (my name don't steal it, lol) except on this occasion those other boyz broke through the line and won... yes, the App St. Div out of Boone, NC! Mountain Boyz!
Dude, did you hear Sparty's on the cover of NCAA Football 09 for the Wii, and the Nittany Lion came in tenth. I could have been the difference maker. Oh well, at least it was a Big Ten team that I could actually root for from time to time. WE ARE PENN STATE!!!
Wait... You guys actually broke into your own stadium and tore down the goalposts following a road win? THAT is hard core. Post a vid if you've got it.
Ohio State: We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan WE'RE FROM OHIO! WE'RE FROM OHIO! O H! WE'RE FROM OHIO! I OOOOOOOOOOO! We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan, whole state of Michigan, We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan WE'RE FROM OHIO! Penn State: We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan WE'RE FROM PSU! WE'RE FROM PSU! GO STATE! WE'RE FROM PSU! GO STAAAAAAATE! We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, the whole state of Michigan, whole state of Michigan, We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan WE'RE FROM PSU!
@Multikill51 lol App. St. was division 2 , if what you are trying to say is Michigan was division 2 when they beat ohio st . thats ok , but as a Buckeye fan I have more respect for the maize and blue than that , it was just a great win in the greatest rivalery in all of sports .
ap-a-lach-an is how u say it and ap-a-latch-an is amazin i cant believe they didnt win national championship this year it would have been for in a row amazin too bad!
while it does hurt the big ten come bowl time by leaking rating points out of the conference, it can also hurt Michigan's ability to recruit which can actually be good for Ohio St. if a blue chipper is considering each of the two school to commit to, or could just decide not to go to Michigan period.
The smartest bet at this point is bet on opposite team as mich coming up,They feel they have nothing 2 gain if they win so leverage goes to opposite team
i think that what you, and many others in the big ten, need to realize is that today is a new day. It is a new era in all sports - not just football. Everyone doesn't get into the largest schools with the historically best teams. so, a lot of marvelous athletes end up going to the "lesser schools".
I thought you were supposed to know the difference between "route" and "root". And no, it turns out this loss didn't harm us at all. Check the BCS rankings.
Hnfdhh, this was bigger than Adelaide beating Port Adelaide. Michigan has been around since the late 1800s and the most all-time wins but has only 2 national championships since World War II. I guess their AFL equivalent would be St. Kilda (except for the wins thing). Appalachian State is a team that is of a lower rung but has had success there. Their equivalent in Australia would be, let's say, Central District. Therefore, think of this as Central District beating St. Kilda.
I hate Gator fans as much as anyone, but he does make a good point. It really doesn't make sense to root against a team that you play head to head, no matter how big a rival they are. Especially when it's a non-conference game.
In the past 12 hours: 1. Les Miles said he is staying at LSU, giving Michigan yet another swing-and-a-miss, 2. The Michigan basketball team lost to Tommy Amaker-coached Harvard, 3. West Virginia and Missouri both lost and Ohio State is going to New Orleans. Michigan, it sucks to be you.
I love how we have all these new fans now...haha!
PS. It's App-uh-latch-in, for future reference.
"We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan..."
Such a beautiful sentiment.
well personally im a penn state fan and was at beaver for the FIU game and it was a madhouse there.. after the game when that last kick was blocked, the stadium was louder for that then the whole game.. that. the tailgaters screaming.. thank you sweet revenge.
so much for michigan winning the big 10.
but thanks to APPALACHIAN STATE for kicking Michigans ass for the big 10! we all appreciate it.
As an ASU grad (and I grew up in Ohio).. I wanted to thank you for this video. IT ROCKED
I'm from Fayetteville, NC and I could hear Boone all the way from here lol. Now, the only way Michigan will get to the National Title game is if they buy tickets.
That loss destroyed their whole program. They will never be the same :)
14 years later and you’re still correct as of now
16 years later and they won a natty sooooooo
Congrats on the big W! I was at BW3 watching the game and i don't ever remember the bar being that loud. It was amazing. I wish I had a video of the crowd to post.
I was watching this in Boone at my parents house (we didn't even realize we got the Big 10 network until the 2nd quarter) and we were going absolutely bananas. It was great.

Whether it is in the area of geography or anatomy you are ignorant. Ohio is the HEART of America.
Because it's a rivalry, genius. Although, really, considering OSU has owned Michigan's asses so thoroughly the past several years, I'm thinking we may need to start considering Wisconsin our new rival. They've been more difficult to beat than Michigan lately.
And as for the video... *happy sigh* Michigan losing to a 1-AA squad is still a thing of beauty, even almost ten months later.
dude everytime i see clips of that game i still get goosebumps....that day was unreal.
Than you for playing our ASU fight song and crediting our roster. It was our pleasure beating your rival. ASU "95.
Speaking as an OSU student, this might just be the best UA-cam video I've ever watched. Where can I get some ASU t-shirts?!
Email the App state gift store
Lol at Michigan... Hahahaha... I was watching the ECU/VT game and when I flipped the channel and saw that last play I laughed so hard!!!
This loss destroyed Michigan. They STILL haven't fully recovered.
I never could understand the "Big 11" joke. I mean we've got
Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue, and Illinois
I only count 10.
Michigan has done one thing that is in my eyes amazing, they are able to join together all the teams in the Big Ten from one mutual hatred of them
I love it, im glad we gained some fans from this huge upset. I was always indifferent about Buckeye football but I am for sure a fan now.
Im not from Boone but in Boone App state is everyone's favorite team
weeman728 of fucking corse
Yep, all 17,122 of em', lol (Boone, NC. Pop: 17,122). I may be a Cuse fanatic and New Yorker but I love App St., ND ST. and sometimes The Citadel.
Nice song. Brings a tear to my eye. *sniffs*
I'm 50-50 on this video I love watching Michigan get embarrassed (especially by weak teams) but that song at the start is what killed it GO GREEN
Weak? App wasn't weak. 2 back to back champion wins.
Thanks man, as you can tell I am a Michigan State fan. The spartans are heading in the right direction. MSU and OSU are going to battle for Big Ten titles. If Clemson were playing against the Taliban, I'd pull for the Towlies! GO GAMECOCKS!!!!!
The block heard around the world!
I'm from North Carolina which is where App State is located in and I can honestly say this has to be the greatest game ever. Go Mountaineers!
i love it. buckeyes and nittany lions all gathered up and celebrating together!
Holier than thou superiority. That's what "being a Michigan Man" is all about.
i was at that game too. We looked horrible. Even though the numbers leaned our way, the stars aligned just right for ASU. Regardless, they deserved the win ...congrats
I love that you put the entire App. St roster up there
I was the drum major of the Appalachian Band... this game kicked ass!
Not true. Shawn Crable was the one who allowed Lynch to get through and block the field goal... The same Shawn Crable who gave the Buckeyes a lifeline last year with that late tackle on Troy Smith. He's from Massillon but I'm glad he chose to go to Michigan over Ohio State.

Northwestern always manages to pull one of those off every now and then. I still remember Noah Herron in '04.
@appguy8950 Haha that was amazing! How are you guys this year?
11-2 is not a bad season. I'm proud of the Buckeyes and what they accomplished this year...3 straight Big Ten titles, 3 straight BCS Bowl game appearances, 3 straight 10+ win seasons, 3 straight Top 5 finishes...not every program can win it every year, and the Buckeyes will be contending for Big Ten and BCS titles next year.

yeah, carrying the field goal up to the chancellors house was insane :D. So much fun.
Anybody who hates Michigan is alright with me.
At least they WENT to the national championship. scUM lost to APP. STATE, and pretty much damn near everyone they have played the last 2 years. INCLUDING the loss yesterday to OSU!!!!!! GO BUCKS!!!! MUCK FICHIGAN!!!!!!!!
As an app state grad I approve this message.
how'd the UM/PSU game work out for those Nittany Lions?
Dude, did you hear Sparty's on the cover of NCAA Football 09 for the Wii, and the Nittany Lion came in tenth. I could have been the difference maker. Oh well, at least it was a Big Ten team that I could actually root for from time to
This video belongs in a museum
thanks for the props...glad we could ruin michigan's season for you
the only thing i like about ten football is that damn near every conference game is a rivalry.and the conference is rich tradition.
I was at that game. It was very embarassing at how unprepared Michigan was. The Mountaineers flat outplayed us and played with much more emotion. They deserved the win. My hats off to Mountaineers. It will be a long season. ANyone know of any good field goal kickers available??
Congratulations on dominating Ohio State in the 1890s, 1900s and 1910s. Now that it's the 21st century, Michigan is Ohio State's bitch.
Awsome even almost a year ago
Mountaineers Rock!!! ASU forever. It will always be history now!!
Class of 81, Appalachian State University!
Michigan who? From an APP alumni, THANK YOU! A most amazing game! Please don't forget us! Go Mountaineers!
i live close to boone and im an app state fan
Michigan is going to Disney World!
I can't wait to see Hart and Henne wearing Mickey Mouse ears. The look will be priceless; "I passed up the NFL for this!?"
Less than three weeks until the season begins
they cant say "appalachian" right but we'll let it slide this time ;)

Just great... Nothing better than seeing that after a PSU 59-0 win over FIU. Watch the related videos, they speak for them selves.
The Buckeyes and Nittany Lions alumni watched the Wolverines choke!
And the Wolverines haven't played a game worth cheering about since. I love it.
The way you get that song out of your head is to watch the video for Appalachian is Hot Hot Hot.
Actually, the bookmakers didn't even offer a line on this game.
lol i love the credits in the end
Dude, did you hear Sparty's on the cover of NCAA Football 09 for the Wii, and the Nittany Lion came in tenth. I could have been the difference maker. Oh well, at least it was a Big Ten team that I could actually root for from time to time. WE ARE PENN STATE!!!

where the hell is appalachain st.? penn? va? wva?

i am shocked the camera survived.
so crazy to think this was 15 years ago.

OHIO STATE dominates everyone. I love Appalachian State though as my new #2 favorite school.
Auburn - Alabamba....are you kidding me? This game shuts an entire state down! At the VERY least it's equal to OSU - UM.
while it does hurt the big ten come bowl time by leaking rating points out of the conference, it can also hurt Michigan's ability to recruit which can actually be good for Ohio St. if a blue chipper is considering each of the two school to commit to, or could just decide not to go to Michigan period.
Yeah the kicker seemed to be a pretty fast/and good tackler, maybe have him play on the defense
in basketball it is the biggest rivalry, but in football it is all about OSU and UM.
Western NC. I didn't know they were THAT far off the radar but I guess that's because I live in NC.
The smartest bet at this point is bet on opposite team as mich coming up,They feel they have nothing 2 gain if they win so leverage goes to opposite team

10 years later and ❌ichigan still sucks.
right on, GO Bucks!
Congratulations on being better than Notre Dame. Hopefully it means a nice long contract extension for Lloyd Carr.
How about Oregon Ducks,? what are they?
Im an ND fan and we got smoked by GT yesterday but this made up for it :D.
I hate Gator fans as much as anyone, but he does make a good point. It really doesn't make sense to root against a team that you play head to head, no matter how big a rival they are. Especially when it's a non-conference game.
you are correct.....it should not have come down to field goal kicks. It was an entire team loss ...we were outplayed. Contrats ASU
2006: Appalachian State 49, Youngstown State 24
Which one is printed on your diploma? Miami University or University of Miami?
The state of Ohio is still the sphincter of the nation's midsection.
Go Spartans!
Louisville seems to have things under control. It's 51-35 Cardinals.
In the past 12 hours:
1. Les Miles said he is staying at LSU, giving Michigan yet another swing-and-a-miss,
2. The Michigan basketball team lost to Tommy Amaker-coached Harvard,
3. West Virginia and Missouri both lost and Ohio State is going to New Orleans.
Michigan, it sucks to be you.
