Definitely cool cars, driven a few of them when I worked at a Jaguar, range rover and peugeot dealer in Sydney many moons ago. But it's older brother the 205 gti was the one I enjoyed the most to drive. Drove one that was set up for rallying and a few normal 205 gti's and they were an absolute hoot! Good vid again mate!
Have a look at Camber and Combustion on UA-cam, they rally one of these around the ring and other tracks like ever never seen before. Great cars when in capable hands
nice review Bro! Back in 98’ I think? a gold gti6 was on the front of ‘Motor’ or ‘Wheels’ in Aus. I remember reading the article over & over. I’d love to get my hands on one!.
@@KiwiCarLife so they have a softer bush set up on the torsion bar which allows it to pivot slighlty and so it acts like a passive rear steer kinda effect. I'd say that's what he means.
306 Gti6 was the sweet spot. More power, 20% more gear ratios and the ride was so well judged. Firm but had compliance. The 306 series was the last of wonderful riding French cars before they changed to using wood for dampers.
I agree with you, most of the video about 306 gti comes from the uk in youtube, with like 1 or 2 from hong kong because it was driven by Henry Lee Junior in Macau GP 2000 beating an e46. I live in Australia and lived in hong kong before, Japanese sports car and european luxury sport car is actually stealing all the attention in the Chinese car community.
Oh, and if you haven’t already seen one, you gotta check the rally cars. Peugeot 306 Maxi. Awesome body kits and one the best ever sounding NA 4 bangers in the racing world.
@@KiwiCarLife The 306 maxi has a wide body kit, a 280-300hp na fully race built version of this engine or the 405 mi16 engine. Weighs 970kg for memory and Won quiet a few rallys. Sebastien loeb has driven one a few times as well..
I have one of these but the cabriolet model I loved until I found out the clutch cable is attached to the pedal with plastic and snapped on me last week haha
@@KiwiCarLife honestly an awesome car otherwise I love it have some plans I want to put the turbocharged 2.0 in and the 6speed gearbox it would be cool to see that in a cab
Whats wrong with the hood of the car? Could use a bit of adjustment, seeing those gaps. But ye, a lot of people are moving back to 90's and 00's cars, the new ones just... lack soul.
What a little beast, love the styling as well
It's sick aye!
Cheers for the review mate, glad you enjoyed the little French shed :)
Absolutely! Thanks man!
I absolutely loved my 306 GTi i'd have another.
Cool little things

Sounds awesome!
I still have mine, in black too 😎 They have a heavy clutch because of a return spring on the pedal... Pop that off and it's much nicer!
Ah I see good to know!
As one of your french subscriber, I can only approve that model 😎
Haha glad to hear it!
beautiful car 🔥🔥🔥
Indeed

Awesome!
Seconded

Thanks man and ooh that's cool!
The last Peugeot people really lusted after
Very true haha
Gudday, gudday and welcome. 😂 Love it!
Haha yep - staple intro now
The rear wheel steer on these really helps it in the twisties.
I don't believe this one had rws
@@KiwiCarLife so they have a softer bush set up on the torsion bar which allows it to pivot slighlty and so it acts like a passive rear steer kinda effect. I'd say that's what he means.
@@KiwiCarLife if it's on a stock rear axle it will have passive rear wheel steering 👍🏻
It's sister the Citroen ZX had the 'passive' RWS for sure. I still drive the ZX 16v S16. , at 240k's it is still a hoot!

Mmm true I've driven a modern 308 GTi and it rode really hard

Oh yeah I imagine man that’s cool
if you ever get a chance please review a mazda mx6
Gee that's an odd ball!
They're pretty much dead now. They were dirt cheap for far too long and all thrashed to death.
Mazda KL series motors are very sweet though
Second that! It's uncanny seeing this suggestion on this video because I own a 306 and an MX6...
I love these!
Cool!

Can't think of a car whose looks have aged better.
I can haha
205gti is way better, possibly one the best hot hatches ever and the best rally car in the t16 variety.
The 205gti also had a stupid heavy clutch.
Will have to try one I guess!

Did you get the 205 to NZ? It´s a popular thing to put this engine into a 205 GTI.
Probably did but not many
They're pretty much all being stowed away in garages by collectors. Never see them driven anymore
Whats wrong with the hood of the car? Could use a bit of adjustment, seeing those gaps.

Agree. 90's and 00's cars were so so good. Didn't notice anything? Maybe needs an adjustment as you say
The bonnet and bumper is out of alignment, one of the jobs to sort on the car :)
If you are in England then you should come and have a go in my turbo accord
Haha that would be very cool... there's some I know of in NZ so might check them out before coming across the world haha
Hey mate, since you enjoyed driving this, you should try driving a Renault Megane rs or Clio rs. They're really fun hot hatches too!
One day!
Agree, need to find you a Clio 182 to test!
Not bad for a french built car.
The last of the good ones!
my dream is to just stand near it
One day man!
i love New Zealand
Haha lovely country
