I know exactly what this is. I've owned a P-45 for about 5 years, and i've had this happen before. I've solved it by disassembling the piano and dusting the circuit boards underneath the keys. There are some good tutorials on youtube that show how to disassemble this keyboard, but there are L O T S of screws involved. Assuming you are willing to disassemble it, a simple dusting of the components underneath the keys with a dry, clean cloth has cleared up the issue for me. When dusting, you might want to try moistening the rag with isopropyl alcohol to make the grime come off easier. Best of luck!
Yeah I had a hammer that popped out of mine, and it was sideways blocking five other keys from moving very well. There’s a good 40-50 screws to take out
@@user-yp5jd3rq2c you have the same piano? This issue has become so frustrating. The problem goes and comes. It will not happen when I need it to do I can have it looked at under warranty
Don't buy this keyboard. You will always have a problem with its power switch. It will keep blinking when you turn it on and there will be no sound. Happened to me two times. Costed me a lot of money.

Is this unique to Yamaha, or a general one?

I owned it for 4 years now. NO ISSUES
almost got runawayed
It's a hardware problem. You have to disassemble it and clean the dust off the internals.
Just blow with Hair dryer ,I got same issue and it went away after blowing
I think it's in monophonic mode. If you can find a manual put it I'm polyphonic mode.hope this helps
I just searched the manual, and monophonic is not shown. It will play any other combinations, this issue is just with the black keys.

Clean out the circuit board OR switch it to polyphonic mode
