I rode AF1’s (with stock bushings) for the last couple of years and wheel bite was something I just learned to live with. However, I’ve recently switched to Slappy ST1’s with stock bushings and they’re just as loose, turn even faster than Ace but the best thing is that wheel bite is almost none existent. A really recommend trying the Slappys because they ride very similar to Ace but they’re just better and no wheel bite.

LP, I agree. I have skated in popsicle with Venture for ages but turning 42yo soon hitting mid aged man 😂 I recently changed my set up with egg shape or surf jr board with bigger and softer wheels to enjoy more cruising but still can throw some my favorite tricks as well! Best set up in my skate career. Back in 90s, we all skated in 7.75 and above 8” used to get hated! Also I selected Ace AF1 55 with hard genuine bushings and my set up is just perfect now. I was so used to with venture technical movement but this fun cruiser set up becomes better with Ace pair. Nice! I swapped out the bushings on my Ace AF1 55 hollows for Independent 94A black bushings and they feel perfect. I still get the turning I want but with more stability for flip tricks. @LeonPaxton the forged base plate on the forged hollows and forged titanium is 53.5mm, and the standard Indy base plate is 55mm, so mine are a little less curvy than standard Indys anyway, but I don't think they lost any turning radius from the standard bushings, it just requires a little more purposeful turning. Less accidental wheelbite. They also don't stick. My truck always sits straight. I can't land totally on one side and wheelbite, pick up my board, trucks aren't stuck to one side, they return home.

I don't know if I can make a full comparison until I skate the Slappy hollows but Slappy wore in straight away and never got any wheelbite 🤔

This largely depends on your weight, others seems to love them as they are

That makes a lot of sense since I'm a big heavy guy so that's probably why I need the harder bushings lol

@@LeonPaxton sweet! I'll be looking forward to it. I'm currently riding Thunder titanium lights and have been debating on getting the slappy lights or Ace.

@@LeonPaxton I was wondering the same, Leon. I've seen a LOT of reviewers in recent months skate Slappys and say they won't go back to Ace. I needed some 9.5" trucks for a new setup and went with the Slappy ST1 Classics. I hope I like them. Looking forward to that comparison.

You're too heavy for the bushings. Get Bones 'Hard' bushings and do NOT remove the bottom boardside washer, as Bones recommends. Leave the bottom washer on or it will lower your geometry and ruin your turn.
