The roll in Elden Ring and DS3 is like heaven after playing MHW. It's literally over double the i-frames
Thats why imo DS and ER are significantly easier than MH. Unbelievably long s, that, to get in MH you'd have to get multiple levels of evade window. And even at max i believe still isn't as long as DS and ER I frames

According to some scholarly "Heraldic wyverns are defined as distinct entities from heraldic dragons. The key difference has been that a wyvern has two legs, whereas a dragon has four..." clearly the one at the video has four legs so it is a dragon.

The parries seem like a slap to the face, they hit the enemy emotionally more than physically - Like "SHUT UP!" "DON'T MOVE!"

@@esoteric404 the way you can totally nullify an enemy attack with that animation, i find it funny that it. It reminds me of slapping someone in the face. Also point guard and other advanced moves in Mh aren't parries but can be considered parries in their functionality
Eh I suppose. I thought maybe parrying became a thing now in the new MHs. I’m excited to see the game evolving but still wish it didn’t have to change so much. I played world and it was all about mounting an enemy over and over and over.

you know, the cool thing here is, in souls we never fough a dragon at its peak, they where always in a weakened state beforehand, and you would always tough "damn, fighting this thing while it was wounded was hell, imagine fighting it in its prime", and now in elden ring we have just that, dragons at peak power, and it shows with that lightning wielding schimitar dragon, and it really makes you see how insane the power level of the tarnished is.
@@Mk-it6cr actually, even in elden ring they aren't at their peak. Not wounded per se, but in the Dragonwound Grease item description it mentions that dragons lost their stone scales that made them immortal and now the remnants of such can be used to harm them. That's why the recipe requires Gravel Stones, which are said to be the decaying remains of their ancient kin's scales. So even these badasses are weaker than what they used to be.
@@attaug One thing I've noticed in Elden Ring, is that to me it feels (so far) like we're witnessing a world that's dying, but still here, rather than in Dark Souls where the world was on life support and very much dead.

Na nothing is designed like that open world bosses are designed with a free flowing fight in mind so you can fight them however you want on horse or otherwise. Now the dungeon bosses some let you summon horse some don't but even those are meant to be possible to beat by foot, especially the ones that don't allow horse summon.
I found most horseback bosses easier on foot since the horse has no i-frame rolls

@@armintor2826 the hitbox on horse is also very annoying. You are trying to hit the dragon and it just completely misses even when you are standing one cock away from him. Yesterday I died at the ice dragon because I missed 8 hits in a row while standing near his foot.
@@armintor2826 While this is true, you can mount/dismount your horse and the action of doing so actually has more s than a roll. It's just more annoying/time consuming to do and can lead to you being in a bad position. The double jump the horse has also can put you clear over most attacks, it takes getting used to but can be done. All-in-all, horseback combat has options but is FAR clunkier than fighting on foot.
Souls player = here's some tactics, estus flasks and you need to hit them from the leg to limp them and stay safe

I only got hit once, I adopted a perfect strategy after watching Forest Run a while ago: I just run in one direction away from where I was. Straight line till I see the ground light up. I wait for the audio cue and I sprint back. Never got killed by it ever again.

Elden ring targeting system is ass. Using it is actually the handicap.
Lock on are bad in those games, it's just a newbie bait 🤣 especially with big weapon it's harder to time your attack with monster movement
Whenever you get stuck in a fall animation, immediately quit out to the main menu. When you re-enter the game, it will put you at the last solid ground you were standing on. If you stay in the air though for too long, you will auto die.
First encounter with that bug I was doing a run where I could only level up every main bosses Grace. Rip 450k runes
Once i got stuck with rorrent on bush...
When i came to this place again to take my runes back, i saw a message telling:
Be ware of bug.
If only read that message before i jumped...
ironically this bug works on bosses too. some bosses will get stuck mid-air and die after a while

you have to fight him twice, he doesnt die on the first encounter, at least its not supposed to.
Yeah, I feel like From definitely took a bit of inspiration from MonHun: there are so many bosses that are so big and quick that make lock on detrimental, so camera management becomes essential for melee builds. Those same monsters usually have both visual and audio tells for their attacks, allowing you to dodge even if you don't see it coming.
And also, no matter who are you fighting in the field, the random vespoid or kestodon is the real threat.
Especially the elder dragons ones: Azula, etc.
Yes, one of the main combat inspirations for the Dark Souls games were the old Monster Hunter games.
Of course it wasn't the only inspiration, and Fromsoft gave it a very different spin, but it's noticeable if one plays both.

Still I find it quite disingenuous that From is not more straightforward about their influences, allowing their fanboys to deny the obvious and/or act like souls games are unique and original.
Nioh devs for instance made it abundantly clear that many people in the studio liked Souls games and used them as some of the inspirations for their own aRPG, whereas you dont see such frank admissions in interviews for souls games or even Ninja Blade, a shameless Ninja Gaiden clone lol

As a MH Vet and a speedrunner, what's your opinion on "what if" MH6 is an open world like this game?
They tested out this concept with Guiding Lands and (after a year or so of fixing problems) it turned out great! I would expect MH6/MHW2 to have very large environments if not being an almost-seamless open world like Elden.

The combat is dog slop as well copy and paste of dark souls 3.
Nioh and Monster hunter crap all over elden ring in this regard and has actual replayability.

It's 100% practice. if you play monster hunter constantly, a lot of those skills carry over pretty well. Nobody is born better at anything. if you see someone good at something theres only one way they got there.

It’s a well known fact that if you’re goated at MH, you have to be goated at any fromsoftware game
Especially those who build Evade. Souls has a significantly wider i-frame compared to any MH games during rolls.

It goes pretty quickly from super easy to really hard in a matter of seconds, and unlike monster hunter, the "bosses" are annoying to learn, to me at least
@@samubertolotto when you have a broken spammable dodge, tons of heals, no need to sheathe your weapon, broken ass magic and mimic tear that could almost solo many bosses before the nerf , the only way to make the bosses challenging is by cranking up the BS meter lol
