    After the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, we could not fish or eat Gulf Shrimp for over a year!
    When officials opened the Gulf again for shrimp fishing, we enjoyed the best season of shrimp ever!!!! They were huge and sweeter than lobster! We got so spoiled.
    I wish that our waters were not so over fished and that we could enjoy the taste of those massive sgrimp again.
    Shrimp farming is becoming more popular in the deep south, along with freshwater fish farming. But there's no taste like fresh - caught Gulf shrimp!
    Thanks for the tips on deveining. Great video!

    Why didn’t you take the vein out of the bottom of the shrimp also? Is that edible

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit
      @HomeCookingwithSomjit  2 роки тому +6

      Hi Chelsey Janease, thank you for the comment 😀 Actually the vein itself is edible, but the black parts may not give a pleasant experience. Personally, I've not removed it because it's okay for me not to remove them. So far, not removing the bottom veins does not hamper the eating experience as much as not removing the top veins. But it can be removed, if preferred 😀 Hope it help 😀

    Do you need to clean anything from the head?

    • @HomeCookingwithSomjit
      @HomeCookingwithSomjit  Рік тому

      Hi Rodger Yin. No, usually that's all how I clean the prawns. For some recipes, we will remove the head as it is not much to enjoy though. 😀😀

    How come every one only remove the intestine from the back , actually cutting the legs and on the stomach side in the grooves use toothpick you'll find another one .I prefer cut down to end of tail cos there actually a sack inside not as visible it's connected to intestine but under the flesh a bit more you'll find its connected to intestine to stomach so more like one long chain going down back to stomach.

    As per her Guidelines to cleaning each prawn with deveining, our Anus nerve would pull out causing back pain?
