Just turned the episode on, saw the weather in first minute and saw L’Escala, the weather pix and realised you had a Tramuntana🙈, it’s far worse than a Mistral, sailed for many years from L’Estartit which is only 10miles south of L’Escala, did you realise the Tramuntana sent Salvador Dali crazy🤣 I am not even going to watch the video, been suffering with the Tramuntana for around 40yrs it’s crazy

I am not so sure it was the wind that sent Salvador crazy. But he is my favorite artist.

Well i'm not familiar with the Tramuntana, but if it's as bad as you say then you should watch to see how well the wildlings handled it, pretty well I would say, no one got sea sick 👍🏼

The only difference between me and the crazy is that I am not crazy. That's what Dali said. The only difference between ME and the madman is that I am not Salvador Dali.

Good to see you getting some proper sailing experience. Re the comments about Yoshi, my dad used to say: you can please some of the people all of the time and you can please all of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time. Do your thing. Your audience will find it's way to you, not the other way around. xxx. (Do get him neutered though. You'll all be happier)

Woah that ended suddenly. Looks a lovely place to be for a bit. I have two rescue dogs and they are wonderful and a PITA in equal measure. One of mine is a terrier and he hates motor bikes, lawnmowers, food mixers, bar stools that go up and down and endless other things get him into a real frenzy and his balls are long gone. He reacts to some dogs and not others. Just part of life’s rich tapestry. Ignore the negative comments, I know it must be hard but don’t waste energy apologising for things you don’t need to apologise for. Just one worry I had was Nadiyana’s life jacket, the straps seemed very slack but maybe she had undone it but if it is too lose it will ride up over her head and cause problems. Crotch strap is only any use if not too slack. Hopefully never need to test it but better safe than sorry. Take care guys. Andy UK

Good thnking Nadiyana.... What if ? You ought to do a drill sometimes. Have what I used to call a 'panic bag'. It can be for almost any emergency. It needs some fresh water in it, seasickness pills / first aid, low protein - high energy rations, flares, handheld VHF, EPIRB, etc. Also think about Man/Dog Overboard. Whoever is left aboard has to get the boat back to pick up the MO or DO. Can they do it? Remember you have propellers, in these situations. One day you could do an exercise on this.... just throw a fender over the side. First of all, see how difficult it is to keep eyes on it. Then see how long it takes to get the boat turned around. Read about it.
Nice video. Good to see Minke is looking fully serviceable. The shots at anchor were nice. Keep having fun !

Hey Wildings, have been watching you guys from the beginning but this is the first time I've commented. My partner and I love all of your videos, but especially the parts with Yoshi (sorry if I've spelt his name wrong!) We rescued our first dog, Tyler, in March 2020 when we first went into lockdown in Australia. Unfortunately we already knew that he wouldn't be with us for very long as he had an untreatable tumour, but we're still glad that we were able to give him the best last 3 months of his life. We now have our second rescue dog, Ringo, since October 2020 who turns 13 in January! Choosing to care for an abandoned animal who needs a loving home is a beautiful and rewarding thing to do, and it just speaks to the wonderful, kind souls that you both are. Don't waste your time reading or responding to anyone who is miserable enough to make a negative comment about footage of Yoshi! One thing you could try with him when you see another dog approaching is to take out a treat and try to get him to sit and focus/be distracted by that rather than the other dog. I'm sure there are loads more helpful videos on UA-cam about dog training tips too. Enjoy all of your precious time together, you are making memories that you will treasure for the rest of your life! Have a brilliant Christmas and 2022 :)

Experienced sailors are smiling because those sailing conditions are pretty mild, but, for the novice sailor it can be nerve racking. I totally respect what they are doing and the courage of stepping into the unknown and learning by " just doing it".
Not terribly long from now, they will be laughing at themselves with the confidence of experienced blue water sailors.
I enjoy watching the trio blossom into world cruisers and experience many similar challenges common to all of us who love " the sailing life."

You have rescued a boat from near certain destruction and done the same for little Yoshi as well. Good for you. Jack Russels can be a pain and have seen off many a larger breed; normally by getting stuck in their throat :) If you are happy and comfortable sailing under mizzen and jib then that is up to you. You are expanding your knowledge and capabilities and learning how your boat handles and what she likes best. You can listen to advice; research it and maybe even apply it if you deem it worthy, but nobody knows better than you the package of your vessel, her capabilities and yours, so don't get upset by the armchair admirals; just smile and wave. All power to you.

Hi guys! Just a "notice to mariners" xD. Hopefully you got a big plan we can't see cos, if not, you are doing the biggest mistake. As a Spaniard it's very sad to say, but Spain is NOT "boat friendly"!! Believe me, nothing to do with the UK or France. You are entering an area (Eastern coast and Balearic Islands) very expensive!! You can be a bit lucky because is low season, but anyway, it's a matter of time you are gonna get ripped off. Marinas are crazy expensive and you can be heavily fined if you drop the anchor in many areas cos the Posidonia or just because they want you to use the moorings of some friend of theirs. If you wanna do the Atlantic crossing its already too late for you, and a year in that area can crash your kitty. I would turn around and sail to Greece, amazing places, cheap life and FREE mooring in many ports. Actually its what im going to do in May, following you steps, from Port Dinorwic to Malta. Anyway im gonna be here (north of Spain) till april so let me know if i can help you in any way. Good luck!!
    Ed

Please! Ignore the selfish, ignorant people who have problems with anything that interrupts “their” entertainment, they should be ashamed of themselves for saying anything except positive statements about Yoshee. I can’t imagine the type of person who would feel so entitled in the first place. To me, it’s basically the same thing as telling you that they don’t “like” your adopted Child and they would like you to “exchange” it or “give it back”. I think part of why it irritates me so bad is that lately there seems to be so many people weighing in on how “they” believe we should be living our lives, when they know absolutely nothing about our lives & it’s also none of their business. The boat looks like a different boat now, she’s got life back into her & loves it....It looked beautiful in what I think was a drone video from above. Thanks for sharing your adventure! I’m restoring a Horstman Tristar 24 and admire how well you’ve met the challenges you’ve overcome to get under way. Regarding abandoning ship, I haven’t had the need or experience but my reading suggests that it’s best to stay with an overturned multihull instead of leaving it. Without ballast it shouldn’t sink and if possible to gain access to its interior be able to salvage survival supplies.

  • @CheersWarren
    @CheersWarren 2 роки тому +1

Your life raft is of no value unless you have to step up into it as the boat goes below the water. Your dinghy will be more useful the lift raft will not get you to shore the dinghy might.
Stay with the boat as long as some part is above water , and try to save it. It’s unlikely to sink as it has no ballast to sink it. There is also no ‘suction’ to drag you down from a sinking (small) boat.
    Cheers Warren

Yoshi is your four legged little man! Never apologise for having him and giving him a better life.Training tips: play background sounds that he reacts to on your Bluetooth speaker eg moped and get him to come to you and sit then reward, ditch the retractable lead immediately. Get him on a short lead next to you with firm commands. He’s a terrier terrorist so just needs firmness and pack leadership or he will lead you! I have a feeling you are giving him treats on your bed - that’s a nope I’m afraid. Not sure how old he is but giving him the chop now is unlikely to calm him but would prevent unwanted puppies.

Guys, don’t give a Flute about criticism, it’s your boat and your sailing ⛵️ just enjoy yourselves.
However, you should consider to put your main sail up a bit..... hehe 😉 just kidding!
Gosh, I see you sailing and in Spain and I feel pretty envious of you guys (in a good way). Enjoy!! 😊
We’ve had -17C until the day before yesterday 🥶 😆

I hate/despise the tie, disruption and bad behaviour of our dog 25% and love/adore her fun and affection 75%. That's dog owner ship! You three are really lucky to have each other. I look forward to each Friday episode - thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Mark and Nadi, good step up for you guys, keep building your confidence with costal passages like this and pretty soon you'll be seasoned sailors crossing oceans 🤞🏻It's just like learning an instrument or to play football, you're not an expert after your second lesson, to get good takes practice, and you're already miles ahead of where you were at the beginning of season 1 👍🏼

    Hi Nadiyana & Mark,
The Mediterranean can offer considerably higher waves than what you have experienced.
In some cases, a huge storm arrives completely unannounced. You then sail with reasonable weather forecasts and then the weather service suddenly reports that a storm is coming spontaneously and often before you reach a safe harbor you are in the middle of a fierce storm with high waves and a wind force 10 or more. This often happens when you reach the narrow passage to the Atlantic Ocean.Saying this from my own experience and of course not to scare you.Hopefully it's not too bad for you two, but especially at this time of the year the sea there can act rather spooky.
For now I wish you both a safe journey and send you love from the Netherlands.

@@davidwyson1913 I know and their boat is far from safe. I also don’t trust their engine since it often makes a lot of blue smoke plus if I listen well while it’s running I hear a sound what shouldn’t be there

Cooking on Gas folks!! good to see the 3 of you out at sea in the Winter! It looked like a good sail? sooner or later you will be out in rough sea's so better to build your knowledge gradually! As for the Doglet? He thinks he is the most important dog in the world!! so remind him now and again that you are. lol all crew should know the drill for abandoning ship etc what why where when??? and as Nadiyana did in rough sea's wear your life jackets ENJOY!

When the leash is slack, you move forward. When he pulls the leash tight, you stop, make him sit.
Treats and lavish praise always for correct behaviour. He will catch on. The leash must be slack to move forward. Walking your dog on a slack leash is a joy.
Bounce a tennis ball against a wall to play and tire him out. Monkey in the middle good fun too.
You may not realize that Yoshi is a greater find than the boat.

Sailing a trimaran myself so i like the speed multihulls makes and they are much more seaworthy than most people think but it takes some time geting used to them if you only have sailed a monohull. I would say that the weather condition in this episode was not at all problematic for Minke but you are doing well taking inte step by step finding out how much wind and waves she and you can manage. Having a grab bag if something unexpected would happened and doing some training at forehand is of course very wise. Thanks for your nice videos. In winter sailing is not an option for me so its really nice having the possibility to watch your sailing.
