UPDATE: so the mass consensus is we must do the album version so that is what we will do very soon! Sorry all for getting the name wrong of the original singer. I must have been thinking about Nightwish at that moment but yes, her name was Clare Torry.
WolfKain, I'm working on a cover of Pink Floyd's "Fearless" as we speak. I'm not done mixing the vocals but I'll link it to you somewhere when it's complete. Nearly there. More of a rock/space vibe than their stripped-down acoustic original.

There is something extra to a live version, but even w/ picking 3 different singers to share the vocals (because the song is apparently exhausting to sing, because singing isn't quite what it is, you have to pull these vocals from your core), not one of them could even hold a candle to the original Claire Torrey. Unfortunately, the only live version I found w/ Torrey singing it is vocal only and didn't have video of it.

I get it. Been listening to this song for over 45 years and it still stirs emotions within my soul. Too bad you never heard it live in a stadium with 70,000 people. You could hear a pin drop....profoundly hypnotic. The experience has never left me.
Great video, although I think the original record is better than this live version. The whole Dark side of the moon album makes me alternate between chills and tearing up whenever I listen to it.
"Time" puts me in tears right from the first line. And the effect only gets deeper as I get older. I've thought about have the line about time having run out put on my tombstone.
I hope you both realize how special the love you share is. I enjoy watching Wolf watch Sistah and the love in his eyes for her is magnificent. This song for me is birth to death. And, one of my favorites. You guys are a breath of fresh air. I love watching people who really love, love everything. Peace.
The blond backup singer is Sam Brown who had her own music career going on at this time. She was a "Pop" singer in the UK and had a #1 hit single entitled "Stop". She jumped at the chance to work with Pink Floyd for this concert and, I think, she also worked several concerts with them just before this concert series at Earls Court. You are absolutly right. But since the only Pink Floyd Album that i can't get down with is Ummagumma (?), Waters/Gilmour and the others were Pink Floyd to me. Barrett surely was a crucial influence, but … whatever, you are correct :-D
What I adore about her reactions. Is they are honest reactions. Her actions remind me a lot of how I felt the first time I heard these songs when I was a young . Is very melancholy on my part
It's very true. The 1970s Pink Floyd albums really need to be listened to as the entire album, one song really flows into another. From "Dark Side of the Moon," to "Wish You Were Here," to "Animals," all 3 albums are highly conceptual, where the individual songs are excellent, but when listened to in the order originally designed by the artists, who did whatever it took, and spared no expense to get exactly what they wanted, taking over a year to record and produce a single album in the 1970s, listening to the album as a whole is a true experience, and the time will fly by.
Should've definitely done the original Clare Torry album version as opposed to a more recent live performance. So much cleaner and more emotional. Simply amazing...
Disagree. I've heard all the versions and this by far to me is the most emotional and nobody beats Sam Brown. Clare's is great too, but it's too repetitive.
Beautiful video - great that you’re not afraid to show your emotions - I love Pink Floyd and they’re the only band that can bring tears to my eyes. The live version of Comfortably Numb on Roger Waters The Wall Live Blu-Ray gets me going every time. Would love to see more PF reactions from you. Maybe even the whole of Dark Side would be great to see you experience that.

Wow, I really felt the intensity of your emotion. Thank you for that shared experience Sistah. Would love to see you react to Disturbed - The sound of Silence
I love Sistah's reactions, so raw, so beautiful. Thats why i love music, depending on what you listen to, it always alters your mood in one way or another
I feel your tears, sister. When I was a teenager in the 70's, I used to lie on the floor between two speakers, listen to this song, and cry out all the pain in my life. Songs like this helped me survive. It still makes me cry every time. Even now, there are tears in my eyes. Art can change our lives, lift us up beyond anything. So glad you had the chance to experience this. * BIG HUG *
I was 19 years old in 1973 when this album came out. I was always mesmerised by the Beautiful, passionate and emotional vocals of this song. But your reaction to it overwhelmed me. So touching!
Welcome to the wonderful world and sound of Pink Floyd young lady, And well done Wolf for introducing her to some of the most beautiful music in the world her life is so much richer for it.
She needs to hear an EPIC. Dream Theater-A Change of Seasons, Genesis-Supper's Ready, Pink Floyd- Echoes, Symphony X- The Odessey or almost any of Transatlantic's long songs.
The song is a about child birth. In the beginning of the 3rd singer you can hear i never said i was afraid of dying. But its very hard to hear so listen carefully. The whole album is about life. Begins with a heartbeat and ends with a heartbeat. What does our life consist of. Time. Money. Child birth. On the run. War. Us and them. Getting old Brain damage. Epic album. Concept album
The way you react to beautiful music makes me think you NEED to hear Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Dark Side of the Moon is about the things that challenge you in life.
Even though this is great it still fails in comparison to the studio version of Dark Side on the Moon and Clare Tory singing on the album is epic. She does alone what it took three girls on stage to do and much more soulful If you think you were crying before it's nothing compared to the album version . Listen and review it
One of the greatest songs ever produced. Only way to describe it is life itself from the day your born to the day you your spirt leaves and moves on. Ive seen Pink Floyd twice in concert back in the eighties and I was never disappointed with their performance. The light show itself was amazing. God bless you both..
I'll be the first of many to make 2 points: 1. Your information is wrong. The singer is Claire Torrey. 2. You need to do the studio version of this. No human can do justice to this song and reproduce Claire's vocals.
I'd like to clarify that I'm glad you enjoyed this video but you are simply missing out on the intensity of the original track. It is unique and should be experienced. Once you hear it, I suspect you will agree that this video was good but the original is simply epic. ua-cam.com/video/cVBCE3gaNxc/v-deo.html
There is a great clip on the Classic Album series "The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon" DVD where Richard Wright (R.I.P.) says that Clare Torry came out the vocal booth in tears saying she was sorry that she did so badly(she thought she flubbed it anyway) and the band members quite assured her that what she pulled off was brilliant. Nice story. Also incredible track by track breakdown, not just each song, but the layers involved musically and vocally that made each track. By the original producer himself, the man Alan Parsons not his "Project".LOL.Cheers from the canadian Queen nut. Great reaction btw.
No kidding. The Clare Torry album version is one that I can no longer listen to fully because it makes me tear up and I am 57 years old and a child of the 70's. It was beautiful when I first heard it and it is just as beautiful today.
Agreeing with so many here that Claire Torrey's original is so much better. In part because it is just a voice crying in the wilderness, like an ancient prophetess. So powerful. Floyd had an amazing talent for capturing the sense of infinite space, the universe arcing about you, the music of the spheres... LASERIUM!!! OMG, I went to see those shows at the Griffith Park Planetarium in the late 70's. I miss those shows so much. Mind-blowing, we would stagger out of the building afterwards and sit out on the lawn, looking up at the universe above us. The Pink Floyd show was fabulous. Man, SUCH MEMORIES.
When he say what you feel, when sayid that, i where like.... EMOTIONAL, didn’t start cry, but definitely got some tears in my eyes, love this number, both studio and live. It’s definitely have more feelings live, but either way this are a unspoken/singing more like a yelling masterpiece, never have yelling been more beautiful!
Wolf I just want to say treat your woman awesome and I know you do because she is a goddess man she's beautiful love this channel continue to do what you do and you picked Pink Floyd thank you very much the Great Gig in the sky is a great song for anybody to try to listen to Pink Floyd thank you again
I have followed Pink Floyd since they started in the late sixties and saw them many times. This is still one of my favourite tracks of all times and listening to it never fails to bring tears to my eyes, not because it's sad but for the beauty of the music and the incredible vocal contribution by Claire Torry, which she created just listening to the backing track and got down in a single take! If you don't cry when you hear this, you're already dead! Cry away Sistah, you're in good company! x
You should definitely do Comfortably Numb from the same concert :) Also, Echoes, either the studio version or the one called 'Final "Echoes"performance with Richard Wright (Pink Floyd)' (surpasses the original in my opinion). Finally, I know it maybe difficult due to copyright but try to do an album reaction (like "Wish you were here"), that's how Pink Floyd are meant to be heard, the songs in each album are connected and feel like a journey.
Wow Sistah you are absolutely transported when you listen to great music like this, and when it's a song that I know and love it's fantastic watching you react; I end up feeling the song on a new level. There were tears in my eyes as I watched this actually.
Our host was obviously quite familiar with the original studio version, so it boggles my mind that he would choose this much, much later live version. So now the impression on his partner (and other first time listeners) has been tainted. Sacrilege.
I'm not usually a very emotional person, but I cannot hear this song without crying. The first time I heard this song was live, at a Rodger Waters concert. I was paralyzed, almost breathless. It was the second most amazing experience in my life, next to holding my daughter for the first time. Great reaction! 🌺
This song is very special to me. I introduced my younger brother to Pink Floyd, and they became our favorite band. Together, we learned to play music and form a band. He died in a car accident at age 39. I played this song, (original recording), at his funeral. The recorded vocal statements suited him so well...."I'm not afraid of dying. Why should I be? There's no point in it, we've all got to go sometime". I barely got through his eulogy, then hit play. I lost it, and think everyone else did, too. I cry every time I hear this song, yet this does not make it depressing. "Wish You Were Here" does the same thing to me. When a beautiful piece of music makes you cry, it reminds and reconnects you to your humanity. Something more people need to do these days.
When listening to this I always imagine a person on his/her deathbed going through the five stages of death and dying - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance before he/she heads off to The Great Gig in the Sky. The vocalisation seems to emote these stages as it progresses. Great to see you being introduced to another one of my favourites. Of course, the album version is the definitive version.
wow i have seen Floyd twice in concert and have never seen someone get so emotional as me but now i have for that reason im going to subscribe as long as you promise to do a momentary lapse of reason some time there is no one doing this album and its so underrated beautiful reaction
Looking forward to your reaction to Clare Torry.. Just the same, that was a beautiful reaction.. great music does that to me as well..She gets it! :) Thank you. cheers!
I've heard this for 30+ years, still raises emotions, it is a great work of art, for me it is about life, from great sadness to overwhelming joy. Seeing this bring you to tears brought me to tears with you, thanks for sharing your reaction. I've heard quite a few different versions, my top 3 are the original with Clare Torry, the version from Delicate sound of Thunder, and the one you just watched.
Do "comfortably numb" from the same concert and we'll all be crying together for a week! Or "time" or "shine on you crazy diamond" or "brain damage/eclipse". Don't do "wish you were here" because then we'll be in danger of complete dehydration
Raw emotion is exactly what Pink Floyd elicits. Any Pink Floyd fan, if they are being honest, will have had a similar reaction to one of their songs at some point.
I loved your reaction to this song Sistah Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time and its awesome to watch you discover the magic that is Pink Floyd 🤗❤ P.S. your so full of life you should go by the name "full of life sistah"
I know I'm late to the game. I just started watching reaction videos. Sistah, you have given me the words to what Pink Floyd means to me! When Dark Side of the Moon came out, I would put in my ( yes, 8- track), put on my headphones and turn up the volume to quiet the voices of the never-ending emotional criticism I heard. I'm excited that I've found you and I'm a listener. I hope to hear more Pink Floyd reactions. What about Learning to Fly?
If you're doing progressive november I strongly recommend Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree. Maybe Routine or Ancestral or Refuge or Happy Returns for "Make Sistah Cry" :) PS: I love the way you react to music, I think there's great strength and humanity in allowing yourself to be vulnerable and emotional on camera (loved your Nightwish reaction). I cry when i hear beautiful music as well and I don't think it's something to be ashamed of, quite the contrary.
It's crazy, I've heard this song so many times, but never this version. Was pretty cool experiencing it along with you. Very honest human reaction, thx for sharing. Peace
Hello you 2. Great reaction! Please do the studio version. Infinitely better. Please also react to Echoes, Time, Dogs & Shine on you crazy diamond (parts 1-9). More Metallica too please. Peace
in tears over here. Great reaction. Let's cut to the chase. You two are the best to tackle a full on Animals reaction. Pink Floyd , Animals . All the way through. Thanks. ♪♥♫
Absolutely love your channel. If looking at progressive metal, I think Sistah would love Tool and how they combine hard rock and metal almost with a tribal music and spirituality.
LOL, last comment, I promise! I'm in my late 50's, and I love these videos. It's so wonderful to see people experience for the first time music that I've loved all my life. Especially songs like this that were so formative for me, that struck so deep into my soul. Blessed be! )O(
Heehee! Thank you, my dears. I have a tendency to jump in during the video and comment, and then I find I have more to say. I hope it's not annoying. Love you both, you're wonderful! Keep up the lovely work - it's great to have found such a loving and sweet channel. )O(
You should really try and react to "The Piper Never Dies" by Edguy. It's like a mix between Iron Maiden & helloween. Epic, emotional, power metal at its finest 😊
I know this is late, but ... This was beautiful. Yes I am a metal fan, but PINK FLOYD owned the seventy's. This was great. I totally love you Guy's. You hit me right where it counts at just the right time😊. Luv ya keep em com in' ❤
Y'all ought to do the Clare Torry version from the Dark Side of the Moon album. That is her literal creation and the version you are reacting to now is a couple of girls trying to copy what she did.
To be honest, I've heard this song for decades now and until I watched reaction videos like this one, I never fully appreciated just how phenomenal the song truly was. I just assumed everyone else enjoyed it but now I feel it more deeply and it's even more elevating and inspirational than ever. And yes, this live version was very good and the original studio version is the best one.
I believe the instrumental part of this was originally meant for a movie soundtrack, but the director or producer had to reject it. He said it was beautiful, but too sad for the scene he had in mind. It became Great Gig after they had Claire react and sing over it a couple of times, and the rest is history.
I seem to be among the few, who prefer the live version- though in my case it’s not this one, it‘s the one on ‚delicate sound of thunder‘...the third singer never fails to give me goosebumps, if not even giving me the waterworks...yes, the original is great- no doubt- but anyway, my personal prefered pick will always be the version on delicate...this version here somehow never touched me as much...

Yup, having recently been in San Francisco and Portland OR, they both have Pink Floyd shows at the planetarium!
I've been listening to this song for most of my life, and this album came out the year I was born, and it still gives me goosebumps when I hear it.
I have been listening to this song for 40+ years and I still get goosebumps, choked up, tears. This is what GREAT music does.
Pink Floyd Clare Torry "The Great Gig in the Sky" interview Clare Torry talks about 1973 "The Great Gig in the Sky" recording sessions for Dark side of the moon (Pink Floyd)ua-cam.com/video/mIW7xZSlZoM/v-deo.html
40 years later and i still tear up every time i hear it, and i've heard it 10 million times.
Wow, I really felt the intensity of your emotion. Thank you for that shared experience Sistah. Would love to see you react to Disturbed - The sound of Silence
Also I have to stress that Clare Torry done it in Two Takes !! ... amazing :)
* BIG HUG *
Me Too!!! An outer body experience.
I was 19 years old in 1973 when this album came out. I was always mesmerised by the Beautiful, passionate and emotional vocals of this song. But your reaction to it overwhelmed me. So touching!
I think she's a doll! Pure emotion can't be faked! I cry to music all the time! It hits my nerve endings and gives me goosebumps. I love ya both!
Thank you🤗💜
Welcome to the wonderful world and sound of Pink Floyd young lady, And well done Wolf for introducing her to some of the most beautiful music in the world her life is so much richer for it.
She needs to hear an EPIC. Dream Theater-A Change of Seasons, Genesis-Supper's Ready, Pink Floyd- Echoes, Symphony X- The Odessey or almost any of Transatlantic's long songs.
I wish someone would react to Change of Seasons if Sista did that her emotions would be all over the place lol.
Studio Version....WAY.....WAY.....BETTER!!!!
You mean Pulse album? Because yes every song is better on Pulse than the original Dark side of the moon album.
Well..it depends. Live is always deeper if it comes to feel, just ur eyes can feel it as well.
The way you react to beautiful music makes me think you NEED to hear Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Dark Side of the Moon is about the things that challenge you in life.
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Live Pulse, Please
Vladimir Matijevic definitely!!!! I got to go to that concert.
listen to david gilmour live pompeii 2016/comfortably numb. It is more amazing
She's done it, and her crying is even more powerfull, a telluric wave of emotion ;-)
you can tell you two genuinely make each other happy
Mwah!! ♥
I will never understand why so many UA-cam Reactioners insist on doing live versions.
Thank you for the correction 🤗💖
I believe it's all about copyright. Album cuts are prohibited but in concert videos are not.
Rachel Fury comes close........just close.
Studio version will really make her cry...these girls can't touch Clare Torry's vocals
I'm not a hundred percent sure but the white woman that sings the first part of that I believe is Clare Torry
No kidding. The Clare Torry album version is one that I can no longer listen to fully because it makes me tear up and I am 57 years old and a child of the 70's. It was beautiful when I first heard it and it is just as beautiful today.
Sam Brown, Durga McBroom and Claudia Fontaine
Actually the two other girls come pretty close
@Haakon Dahl yes Clare Dorry is the original singer on the original track and Yes, she's white.
Thank you for this reaction. I've been listening to this song for over 30 years and still get an emotional rush.
It's ok honey. It happened to all of us.
This music connects our hearts and emotions.
It lets us realize how beautiful life really is.
Millie Jackson - If Loving You Is Wrong ( I Don't Wanna Be Right )
Agreeing with so many here that Claire Torrey's original is so much better.
YOU'RE beautiful, baby 😃 Thank you for the love and support🤗😘💖🤘🏾
@@HalfLifeSistah i will always
There were tears in my eyes as I watched this actually.
studio version is way better
Our host was obviously quite familiar with the original studio version, so it boggles my mind that he would choose this much, much later live version. So now the impression on his partner (and other first time listeners) has been tainted. Sacrilege.
xDDDDD We hear y'all ;) Wolf is already preparing a versus reaction, for the studio version, heh heh heh ;) ♥
@@HalfLifeSistah I'm sticking around for that! Subbed.
@@mojobag01 haha, awesome! I hope I enjoy it, as much as I did this one 😀💖
@@HalfLifeSistah but now she knows what to expect :c
I'm not usually a very emotional person, but I cannot hear this song without crying. The first time I heard this song was live, at a Rodger Waters concert. I was paralyzed, almost breathless. It was the second most amazing experience in my life, next to holding my daughter for the first time. Great reaction! 🌺
Don't worry, I don't cry very often, and this song tends to make my eyes water, so it's definitely not unwarranted in this case! lol
Wow! A person on death bed... 😮 This song takes is to many places!💖
I agree, this song definitely feels like the five stages of grief.
wow i have seen Floyd twice in concert and have never seen someone get so emotional as me but now i have for that reason im going to subscribe as long as you promise to do a momentary lapse of reason some time there is no one doing this album and its so underrated beautiful reaction
☺🤗🤗🤗💖
Do "comfortably numb" from the same concert and we'll all be crying together for a week! Or "time" or "shine on you crazy diamond" or "brain damage/eclipse". Don't do "wish you were here" because then we'll be in danger of complete dehydration
Hey You, The Gunners Dream and Mother do it every time for me.
Carvalho Diablo and If
Was there in that crowd for this
Raw emotion is exactly what Pink Floyd elicits. Any Pink Floyd fan, if they are being honest, will have had a similar reaction to one of their songs at some point.
I loved your reaction to this song Sistah
Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time and its awesome to watch you discover the magic that is Pink Floyd 🤗❤ P.S. your so full of life you should go by the name "full of life sistah"
our voice is the only instrument we all can play
I know I'm late to the game. I just started watching reaction videos. Sistah, you have given me the words to what Pink Floyd means to me! When Dark Side of the Moon came out, I would put in my ( yes, 8- track), put on my headphones and turn up the volume to quiet the voices of the never-ending emotional criticism I heard. I'm excited that I've found you and I'm a listener. I hope to hear more Pink Floyd reactions.
What about Learning to Fly?
If you're doing progressive november I strongly recommend Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree. Maybe Routine or Ancestral or Refuge or Happy Returns for "Make Sistah Cry" :)
PS: I love the way you react to music, I think there's great strength and humanity in allowing yourself to be vulnerable and emotional on camera (loved your Nightwish reaction). I cry when i hear beautiful music as well and I don't think it's something to be ashamed of, quite the contrary.
Pariah or Happy Returns would open the flood gates for sure. Both utterly beautiful songs. Steven Wilson is a genius.
OMG Routine made *me* cry, and it was the second song in my life that did it :P
@@Brombit gotta ask: what was the first?
Yes, I was asking for this question ;)
Tool - 10,000 Days
Enjoyed the video and glad you enjoyed the song, its fun sharing something you love that is new to someone else
Wow eso es emoción de verdad, no se puede esperar menos de Pink Floyd. Genial
Thanks. ♪♥♫
Thank you, love🤗🤗😘💖
Absolutely love your channel. If looking at progressive metal, I think Sistah would love Tool and how they combine hard rock and metal almost with a tribal music and spirituality.
Edit: they, too, go great with psychedelics but not like I would know either...
Sistah, you are the most beautiful soul . Love this
Have her listen to Wish you were here. That song will make any person cry.
LOL, last comment, I promise! I'm in my late 50's, and I love these videos. It's so wonderful to see people experience for the first time music that I've loved all my life. Especially songs like this that were so formative for me, that struck so deep into my soul. Blessed be! )O(
Your comments were many, lol... but appreciated 😉
You're so beautiful🤗😘😘💖
You're beautiful, girl! I heard this so many times but I still cry... Love u guys!
Mmmmwwwaaahh!!🤗🤗🤗💖
I know this is late, but ... This was beautiful. Yes I am a metal fan, but PINK FLOYD owned the seventy's. This was great. I totally love you Guy's. You hit me right where it counts at just the right time😊. Luv ya keep em com in' ❤
TOUCHES THE SOUL in the best way! Brings back such emotions of my youth.
i cry too ... everytime i listen ... and that s not the only one song ...
Hi, Sunshine! What orget songs make you cry?💖
Great performance I love listening to the various live versions and wow what a reaction thanks x
You need to let her hear the album version!
Y'all ought to do the Clare Torry version from the Dark Side of the Moon album. That is her literal creation and the version you are reacting to now is a couple of girls trying to copy what she did.
Nice! But guys The Great Gig in the Sky for the first experience, has to be Studio version, its waaaay better!! Cheers anyway!
It became Great Gig after they had Claire react and sing over it a couple of times, and the rest is history.
hey guys. This and so many of there songs are just soul deep and they truly touch you. Big thumbs up for a great reaction.
There has not been an instrument created yet that can match those vocals. Incredible.
