First it was just fun beating the shit out of those monster semens but when I saw his SG ammo run out and decided to fight the chainsaw monster with bare hands and feet, damn that's pure MANLINESS.
I always thought the music at the end was very beautiful. And even though it's an action game, it does tell a story in a subtle way as we progress. It's a great game

I absolutely love the original splatter house trilogy. The 2010 game was decent from what I heard but not the remake the series deserved. I hope Namco will once again take us back to the west mansion in a future game at some point giving splatter house a proper new-introduction to modern survival horror / hack and slash fans.
The 2010 version was like that but it fell into the trap of being a run of the mill edgy game and came across as a wannabe doom/resident evil style. The 80s/90s horror movie style is what made this game so unique, if they ever do a reboot they should keep it like the Sam Rami or Romero films.

Man tbh, even though this is an arcade game, it has a sense of dread and darkness that you rarely see nowadays. They weren't going for a horror game, they went for a beat 'em up and it still creeped the hell out of me. It just goes to show that jumpscares don't make a scary game.

Men this game is a real jewel of the arcades, the remake of the 2010 have do a great job reviving and adapting the game to the age, but its a shame that the remake dont put some of the boss fights of the fisrt game, i really *REALLY* was hoping fight against a demon jenniffer or the inverted cross, i mean, look what they have done with the poltergeist boss, that thing was amazing, imagine what would happen if they put that effort on remaking those boss fights

The arcade version stayed in Japan for a long time until it was released as part of the extra games you can play in Splatterhouse 2010 and its one of the games in the Namco Museum collection on the Nintendo Switch. Edit: The Japanese PC-Engine version keeps the key visuals of its arcade counterpart although turned down a bit due to hardware limitations. The American TurboGrafx version changes the cross to a floating head, the religious imagery is also completely removed.
