The reason why they colored Rick's mask red in the American Turbografx 16 port of this game is so that NEC and Namco won't get sued by Paramount Pictures...
The Java mobile version is so good considering the limitations of a 2000's phone and how basic that platform is. Could pass off as a GBA port. I used to play it all the time in my old Nokia.
He identified me with you, I played it on a Nokia 5310 and the graphics and music was very good despite the limitations, and of course I can say that it sounded better than here in the video, but it made me have a very good time, moments that I will never forget
Yeah you can get the splatterhouse for the Xbox 360 and PS3 era. I will say it really does seem to have died due to very poor marketing, because I only found out about it through UA-cam videos and such that obviously connected because I watched other splatterhouse videos like this and you are stating how you clearly didn't know about it either I'm sure there are probably tons of people out there that just had no idea that the game existed. I got a copy off eBay
FM Towns was powerful for that time, being an x86 system (80386 DX @ 16 MHz) with 1-2 MB RAM that could be expanded to 6. Fujitsu wanted it to compete with X68000. Also, the developer Ving knew how to make good arcade ports. RayForce (Layer Section) and Elevator Action Returns for Sega Saturn are also their work.
The music was so good for this game it was so different than any game ever made so unique. The sound effects were great too especially the meat clever sound. It sounded like a tennis racket kind of. It was a wacky sound but made it so fun landing every shot.
Ive heard of the fm towns, had no idea it was powerful enough to make a perfect port like that. Now i gotta look up more about the system. I have always wanted to play this game, now i get to on the turbo mini but the arcade version is just so much better. Love it nonetheless.
You can play the original arcade version on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of the 2010 Splatterhouse reboot, the arcade game is unlocked after completing the second level.

We SOOOOOOOOOOO need to somehow bring Splatterhouse back for today's consoles.
That was already tried, in 2010.

How the hell FM towns emulate an arcade game so perfectly????
The hardware is similar or close to arcade hardware is why.

It definitely looks like the kind of game that would've had a very gory OVA in the 90s.

I have 2 and 3 for the Genesis. Great games!
FM Towns and Windows were the closest to the arcade. PCE version is not a bad conversion though either.
Java port looks amazing for this system

Always wanted this back in the day. I knew the FM Towns version would be boss. Didn't it turn up on the megadrive at one point?
Megadrive has Splatterhouse 2 and 3, but not the first one.
So this is why Demonsteele has that bowling pin sound. It was a reference to Splatterhouse.
I love the arcade and windows version of this game
PCエンジン版のマスクは白色ですよ。赤いのは TurboGrafx-16 ですね。
I can’t get over how badly the turbo-grafx 16 looked compared to arcade 🤯
Maybe it's because I played it first, but I prefer the look and sound of the Turbo Grafx 16 version. Seems creepier.
@@bubbythebear6891 They honestly could have made it a PC Engine-CDROM2 game to add the correct sounds and music
The PC Engine actually had creepier music.Stage 4 is a perfect example. This game probably had the best music I heard on a pc Engine card game.
The mask was purple in the Turbograf version to dodge a lawsuit from the mask looking too much like Jason Vorhees' mask, right?
Yes. There was also some censorship/removal of Christian iconography in the U.S. localization. PC Engine version is not censored and is superior 😎👍

Reminds me a lot of Shadow of the Beast from a gameplay perspective. I wonder were the SOTB developers inspired by this game?
FM-Towns also got good ports of Shadow of the Beast 1 and 2. 3rd game unfortunately, didn't get ported 👎👎
Now we are gonna have a Genesis port of the original done with the Scorpion Engine.
I can't deny the feeling of force for turbo grafx 16 ver.
That FM Towns was nice.
