- Baer Traa sings Gaucho at a perfect combination's tribute to Steely Dan

I’m almost embarrassed how often I come back to hear their take on this Steely Dan favorite of mine.
Same!
Same.
Same ! But the fact is that Baer's performance is remarkable: !
Not to mention all the other band members, of course !
Sax player totally understands the Steely Dan vibe ...so does the Band ...Bravo !!!!
that vocalist has really got a solid voice and he uses it well
That sax is damn smooth. Very nice treatment.
that exactly what ive thought
excellents nos amis hollandais dans ces reprises du fantastic steely
Incredible musicians all of them
Man you guys nailed it ....absolutely nailed it
Toon Roos, bravo! Great work of Such a complex composition. Chapeau!
The best ever sax solo on any Cover. And a marvellous cover too
Who IS that mad, sweaty, balding, incredibly incredible sax player? He IS the music!!!!
Another superb performance by this band. Love the sax tone
One of my very favourite Dan songs. These guys and girls did a great job - true to the original yet made it their own. Superb
Costanza KILLIN' IT on that sax!!
Superb cover! Steely Dan fan here!
Well done! You know, I simply never get tired of listening to to the Gaucho album. And it’s been decades. I could listen to it and to perhaps Aja, every day. There’s a certain confident mood of ‘relaxed genius’ to them. Nothing is rushed, full of chordal complexity, yet playfulness. And oh, exquisitely recorded. This song’s original track still remains nothing short of stunning in headphones. Enjoyed this, cheers.
Outstanding. I like how they sort of loosely follow the script, but add their own touches, especially saxophone. Excellent
Great ! The horn/rhythm section and backing are PERFECT! and the best VOCAL which I like very much !
What a mean sax player! You can feel his passion! Wish I can see you one day. More power!
When someone lives in and with the performance - it's a legacy well transported in time.... Nice !
10 times a day I play this , what an amazing performance
The best overall performance of Gaucho I've ever heard.. and I've been lucky enough to hear Steely Dan perform it live!
Baer has the perfect vocal style/range/control for this song, the harmonies, the brass section (in particular, the amazing Toon Roos) are flawless and the rhythm section are tighter than a hip Roco Prestia.
One of the best things about UA-cam (and music in general) is the ability to not enjoy music you love, but to learn more about other music/musicians , but it has its drawbacks...
... One minute I'm searching UA-cam for videos of the unbelievable Toon Roos...
... while listening to Toon, I hear him and Pianist Mike Bodde perform their interpretation of Chopin's prelude No. 20...
... while listening to Chopin, I'm reminded of the amazingly talented Hiromi Uehara and her arrangement of Clair De Lune...
... I then discover (and immediately purchase) Hiromi's new album 'Spark', this fires up memories of Simon Phillips and Stanley Clarke...
... this sends me into a Clark/Return To Forever marathon, going back to School Days, newer solo material and collaborative work with Victor Wooten and Marcus Miller...
... and then onto Victor Wooten's new album!
Hours later, I'm cursing to myself having lost track of so much time :)
What a time to be alive, my dude.
@4Q2 smith many many times, live too. The original is flawless, but nice to hear different arrangements too
@4Q2 smith yes, and ‘as long as you’re living yours’ is a fine track (ive got the album) while sections were clearly borrowed by fagen (who liked Keith’s track), gaucho in its entirety remains a masterpiece in my eye
@@EvilKarateClown indeed Joshua, so much great music to listen to, from the past and present, only downside is that there’s only so much time where you can actually sit down and properly listen to it.
In 2012, I heard a group called snarky puppy on UA-cam, then I listened to the recordings of the individual band members, the guest musicians, side projects, artists from the same label (and their side projects, guest musicians, etc,) now I’ve got around 43 albums to listen to, all in some way related to the original band and that’s just one band.
The branch that comes from Steely Dan is a lot bigger, which is why my digital Steely collection is over 324gb in size and counting :o Just need time now to sort thru it all ;)
Steely Dan fan......amazing cover 🇿🇦
I like singer Baer Traa. His timing and phrases are great. He reminds me a little of Kurt Elling
He possesses such a gift. Is he doing anything while sequestered?
I was thinking kurt Elling as well.
Guys OMG Goose bumps the whole thing, just amazing
Clearly one of the most difficult Dan cuts to duplicate. Could be the only time I’ve seen it attempted. Well done, folks.
"A perfect combination" makes the best cover of Steely Dan ... sure it's re mixed avec perfect panorama sound and female voices added , no ?
vocalist has incredible control
I was at this concert, loved it from begin to end! The Royal Dutch Scam! :)
braavo magnifique reprise super chanteur quel talent merci
This is great. I can't begin to tell you , how great it is . A must listen...
Oh boy. That sax player is awesome !
Spot on! Excellent job.
Wow just wow👏
I really enjoyed your rendition of Gaucho well done thanks for posting!!
Fantastic, beautiful. Thank you.
I like how the soloists put their own stamp on things.
sublime!
Love this!
Great cover and fantastic voices!!
Ohhh, so good!
Thank you so much for a great cover
Excellent!
Stunning, Couldn’t be better.
woo.. how i love this song... great cover
This is a great vibe .... GAUCHO HORNS VOCALS GUITAR smashed it!!!
Cheerfully.good vibes here.
Great cover!
Incredible!
Fantastic cover and great vocalist
Bro the vocalist out Gaucho'd Donald Fagen, WTF lmaoooo this is so perfect it's almost a parody. Great stufff
that was beautiful absolutely right on .
Nice rendition. A fine singing voice I'd say.
My goodness that is amazing!
The Dan's Music was always perfect, but this is live and utterly the coolest .. the sax player just makes the perfect riffs, and the sound guy on the mixer should be given extra sex.. great mix..every instrument as clear as a bell.. Walt and Don would be so proud !!!
Brilliant no coincidence their covers are from Aja and Gaucho the two jazziest Dan albums
Marvellous!
Very nice.
Genieten
Those harmonies are perfect!
Just wow...fantastic!
Smooch and smooth!
Wow. Superb.
Just flawless!
Fine cover, the best that is on you tube, better than the original, in my opinion.
Bravo! Great cover.
Great, love the sax.
fantastic!!!!
excellent..
That is a seriously good horn section
WHAT A SAD TUNE. I'VE BEEN ON BOTH SIDE OF THIS FENCE. THESE GUYS NAIL IT.
Perfect!
too gooood!!
Whole song built around a tenor horn. Perfection sustained.
Wow🎼👌
No such thing as too many saxes in a piece, especially when they're this fine!
The whole band, including vocals have really mastered the laid back Steely Dan groove. Back side of the beat but still a tight ensemble. Tenor player has nice tone but he's a bit intrusive in the chorus where I just like to hear the band hitting the groove.
great Musicians,
amazing
Well done. Not an easy song to play!
Very very nice
Nicely done.
Best vocalist of all the Steely Dan tribute bands. BTW, why are all the best Steely Dan tribute bands from Europe?
Check out Hey Nineteen from Rhoda Island. Go to their website for play dates. They rock.
Buble, I love a bit of Buble!
nice voice😎
Returning view for the mean sax
Back again for the opening sax god damn!
Good band
One of my least favorite SD songs, but seeing this, with a clear voice, and powerful dynamics pushed the song up a few notches for me.
WOW
congratulations...!!!!
Kippenvel!
Yea, when those background vocals come in, it sounds fucking glorious! Good job, eh!
Keith Jarret would be proud
Donald may even be!
What a girly-angelical voice! Oh boy! Try again tomorow!
Joy x
Better than the original. Amazing ...!!
Apart from screwing up the lyrics, this is surprisingly impressive. The background singers alone are worthy of Fagans next album.
@@nic5754 I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. This band is superb. How old are you anyway?
@4Q2 smith The whole song wasn't taken, just the opening melody.
@4Q2 smith No sense arguing with someone who's only itching for a fight. Best way is to listen to both songs all the way through.
@4Q2 smith Love it. Fagan is too much of a brilliant musician to just lift an entire song from someone. He was influenced by Jarrett's song which is why he shared royalties with him.The intro was Jarrett's the rest is pure Steely Dan.
I like the red headed lady
Damn.
nice
Theres a SD live version of this spng, with Becker singing and it doesn't hold a candle to this
