Way underrated, this should be on every radio station
Rip Michael Burks ! Kingfish did such an amazing rendition here . This young man gives me hope for the next generation of blues players !
Anyone listening to this, you owe it to yourself to check out Michael Burks' Empty Promises. That will lead you to other MB tunes and it will be evident, he is the MAN. RIP Big Mike.
The sick part about his talent is that his voice and guitar playing will get better.

Yeah because He's still 21 goddamnnnn
I just hope he loses a bit of weight because it would be an absolute shame to lose this guy early.

I'll never stop listening to this for as long as I breathe, this phenomenal masterpiece gives me chills every damn time
This guy is already a legend
Wondering who could hold the mantle after Prince, thank you ❤
Am I'm the only one that gives props to the bass player and drums.. that killing it . But that bass player is a beast
DIRTY HEARTS DON'T DIE 😢
My God. This is uncomfortably fabulous. Jesus. Doyle Jr meets Roy Buchanan. God bless Susan Antone.
Goosebumps warning
Es la primera vez que lo escucho y ya lo amo. Geniooooooooo.
Wow this guy truly has the famous BBking soul about him he even looks like the Man himself
Truly exceptional
Good God!

Got that thang sangin
Well... Wow.. .. He definitely played all the notes!
5 30 he should start alll overrrrr babyyyy
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My brain can't process he's only 21 years old !
He sounds and has the feeling of a 70 years old bluesman ...
He’s been through some tough times. He expresses those feeling through sounds.
I'm older than this guy and yet plays like a veteran.
He’s been playing since he’s a little kid. Prodigy.
His mother recently passed away earlier this year. Poor kid
How has he explore blues like this...fantastic.
Discovering Kingfish has just made my night! Can’t believe how good he is!
He is amazing! Check out Jackie Venson as well.
I'm with you wow this song was all of that for sure he played that guitar effortlessly his singing will get better which is nuts!
Same here, this young gentleman has been one of my fav blue players, He just entertains me a lot and stay hooked in the feeling of being live.
@@exploretheworld9111 agreed, he is amazing at singing as well as the guitar! Not fair really but I’m here for it.
@@rymezpayy Check out Samantha Fish as well
Seen this young man in Kansas City a year ago , he was just 19 , he played 3 1/2 hours straight with zero breaks ! If you get a chance to see Kingfish live , jump on it !!
Saw him in Tulsa a year ago. He crushed it. Amazing. Was supposed to see him in chicago with buddy guy but bad weather on the train made me miss it.
I envy you brother
Wow! He played 3 hours straight with no breaks. That is tough for the best of them! He is absolutely fantastic! This set is my favorite at this point.
@Fake as fuck you wouldn't say that about bb king. Bb king was a big man to, but you wouldn't say it about bb king because he's a fucking legend. In 20 years. Kingfish will be the king of the blues. And your gonna remember that all you said about him wad the fact that he likes to eat. He's already lost 100 pounds in one year. So keep your mouth shut

CONGRATULATIONS KINGFISH!!! Just won a blues award for 2022. Epic!!!
The solo brings tears to my eyes. I've never heard such emotion coming out of a guitar before.
Too soulful! Check out his other live performances of this same song...They are all different yet still full of emotion. He composes on the spot
A blues player with the build up and emotion of Gilmour
Never listened to Jimi Hendrix?
Or SRV?
If you love an amazing solo I'd suggest watching The Main Squeeze cover Have a Cigar by Pink Floyd. The solo is out of this world.
In 40 years people are gonna be talkin about Christone the way we talk about SRV and B.B. King right now
I hope he is still performing in 40 years
What a deep breath of fresh air. Thanks for this.
So true.
He's the three kings reborn, Albert, Freddy, and BB.
You damn right they will be ❤️😎
I have listened to and played blues for 40 years. This guy is a blues icon in the making. He's got the soul, the chops, the voice, the humility and the back story. No doubt.
Absolutely.
I totally agree with everything you said Steve . He could be the next BB King. 🤙🏿🤟
I just watched his show at Horseshoe Tavern Toronto. my brain is still under siege. I am completely blown away, the last time anyone blew my mind this much the first time seeing someone was in 1983 at the El Mocambo watching SRV + DT. hours later and I am still saying What did I see What was I witnessing. Kingfish is incredible.
True!
I think it is nice to see a black man with a guitar again, since it looks like every black musical talent goes to rap or R n' B.
BB, Muddy Waters and SRV looking and saying to each other, "we're in good hands, Kingfish got this". 🎸
And don't forget about Jimi Hendrix
@@williampscott3539 i didn't, was just naming other Blues guitar players, but yes.

Exquisite work!
I totally agree. This young man is already on the same level as Jimi and SRV. In time I believe he will surpass all guitarist and be the G.O.A.T.
This guy brings tears to my eyes for how genuine he is.
this guy is the real deal
So do i
Tremendous talent! He finds his voice through the guitar and his voice is powerful. He conveys so much depth, it's palpable.
You are so right Bruh.
Christone has incredible vibrato much like Freddie King. Simply amazing.
You can practice skill, but soul is the thing you cant practice. Its a gift.
Absolutely Gringgo!
There you said it brother.

I got it
You got to have lived it!!!!
He makes it look so easy... like he's playing with a child's toy, while he's churning out amazing riffs. Just incredible!

Hopefully and hopefully Rock 'n roll does too!

Credit to the rest of the band aswell, the drummer is very talented also
Yeah, I noted that during his performance. His percussion section is perfect! That bass player...wow...his fills are perfectly timed as is the drummer (who I heard is his brother). What a treasure. I was so impressed I bought the song. WOW!
Yes, this rhythm section is incredible

I’ve seen him live and he really IS this good. At age 21.
I pray that he has a long and rewarding career and that God will protect him from the dangers of show business.
Especially, since his mom has passed sadly. Hopefully, he’s got some good people behind him. Not sure but heard his father was in the band but can’t find any band member’s names.
Mike Saucony Paul Rogers on bass (he’s really good) and its his cousin on drums I think
I love your comment, so many people want to trash him bcuz by if his weight...you are a good person, thank you for kind words and caring about people for who they are.
@@ricardomartinezxx I've never seen anyone trash him for his weight, but I know a lot of folks who found out about him (and loved his music instantly) have been very concerned about his health.
To his very great credit, he has made big strides with his weight. It is NOT EASY to deal with a weight problem. Yet he's lost a lot of his excess weight and I really wish him the very best. He's a wonderful, super nice, personable, respectful young man, and an even more wonderful artist. He's an absolute credit to his family and especially his mom. From 3:24-5:54 is some of the best guitar phrasing I’ve heard in quite sometime regardless of any genre of music that I’ve been playing or listening to for the last 20 years..

You know how you know our musical world is a mess in 2024? Because this man isn't a household name......this is what you should be listening too......
F*ck yeah. Staggering talent.
Kingfish, First To Eleven, Albany Down, Mammoth WVH, The Dead Daisies, Big Wreck, Myles Kennedy and any of his accompanying acts, Avi Kaplan, Blackberry Smoke, Dirty Honey, Inglorious, The Struts... These should all be names everyone knows. Alas, the powers that be have their plans with the radios, and so one must dig for the treasure themselves.

I saw Marcus King last month. All I can say is, WOW. What an amazing live show.
That is one the most vocal Les Paul neck pickup tones I’ve ever heard. All the frequencies in the right place. And, of course, absolutely killer playing from this young blues prodigy!
Jalen pickups “MC Special”
RBD ...not a les Paul....custom guitar by some guy in Mississippi...or was it Louisiana?

Yeah man that pickup is ...uh huh ... killer tone monster for sure
I have a Hamer Archtop with similar pickups . (Jalen Super Classic set ) They really sing with some volume behind them but still hold grit and sustain at lower volume ..

This kid is unreal. And comes outta the real delta tradition-I can’t think of what blues needed today more than Chris. He’s the real article of authenticity and blazing talent. The kind of phenom who’ll end up inspiring a whole new generation to want to play and keep alive real blues. What a gift
Amen!
Don’t kid yourself. To inspire the masses of young folks these days you need to sing mumble rap and get tattoos on your face. Let’s hope he inspires something underground that can flourish overseas where people still like real instruments not just synths. American music is dead as long as the youth are social networking instead of starting bands and performing like in generations past before the great sleep and media induced psychosis.
@@bojangles6444 Wow. You must be the hippest scenester around, being soooo jaded like like. How dark and original. You're awesome
@@justinmix143Lol I am too old for that. I wrote that after I heard Robin Ford moved to Europe bc better gig opportunities for blues guitarists. I don’t even thinks it’s made by people probably a damn algorithm based on psychological data.
FYI- I said the opposite thing in another thread. Don’t ever assume people believe what they say online. Everybody has a role to play. Gotta balance the troll.
I sincerely hope the youth of america can get behind an artist like him and allow the rebirth of good music to rise from the ashes of todays "popular" music like a phoenix! Let us celebrate talent, skill and soul. Instead of ass shaking, face tats and autotune.

I like Gary Clark and all but I just can’t understand how he goes mainstream while there are countless blues player like Kingfish that are much more soulful and better players. I realize Kingfish has a solid career for his age but I feel like so many people are missing out on some seriously good blues! Plus, that tone!!!!!
Gary started in the 10s when this music was still relevant cause bands were still a main stay in music
He’s a genius!!! The way he’s mixing scales and modes for dramatic effect is so incredible. I’m getting major Frampton vibes!!! With some Gary Moore and Robin Trower thrown in. But most of all, I hear him!!! He makes that guitar speak!!!
That little descending lick at 6:40 seriously gave me goosebumps!!! It was simple, but so tasteful!!!
He knows how to get out of the pentatonic scale...A snippet of a cleaner major sound keeps it interesting...A piece of B flat.. A piece of C like what he did at 6.40 was smooth af. Only criticism from me is that he uses the wah pedal a little too much for my liking...Others may disagree though.
@@Khaled91 I used to use the wah pedal much like Kingfish for a treble booster, then I bought a Fulltone treble booster, now I don't use the wah nearly as much! That was my answer to getting more presence! Cheers
Lol No blues scale practice more Moore Bs
Gotta apologize for my critic. Maybe u guys haven't been playing long. Whatever floats
All scales are intertwined. Don't impress so easily
If blues and rock had a love child, this would be it!
If only the young generations prized this kind of music like It was back in the day. Real music, real blues, he should be up there with SRV, Jimmie Hendrix, Buddy Guy.
Why does that matter? Art and tradition depend on those who love it. Momentary passages of generational popularity are simply incidental.
Terrific cover of the late Iron Man Burks. Just got my copy of Kingfish's debut CD, close to e religious experience!
What a sensational cover of the Late Mike's work !!! Keeping up the message of "in your face Blues !!" A bit of Stevie Ray in there as well !!

Kingfish is in such a small category of guitarists who can transcend beyond theory into feel. Guy is beyond having chops,. He’s up in the Jimi, SRV, BB, Frusciante kind of category for me. All legendary, all emotional players who tapped into that unknown most guitarists dont find.
