I know it's a long shot. But I hope everyone is found. Just imagine if this happened at rush hour, with busses and everything else crossing.
If it was rush hour, some people would’ve probably saw what was about to come and abandon their vehicles and run, which would cause everyone else to run as well. It’s unlikely that it would go unnoticed if it happened in rush hour
@user-re9zk4zy5d maybe, but that is a very long distance to run in such a short amount of time. I'm not sure if school buses regularly cross it or not, they would have basically been sitting ducks. Such a bad and scary thing to think about
Even if people did see to run, the bridge is a mile long, it would’ve been hundreds of times more catastrophic.
❤
It would be terrible hearing “Mayday… mayday” and knowing you won’t be able to get out in time.
Those last cars to drive past at 1:28 … I wonder how they feel knowing if they’d crossed a few seconds later they’d be in the water too…
I wonder if they heard the collapse, stopped and looked back.
terrified cos they know they will get final destination fate 1 year after this
@@fanyoktavia1703 😂
They wouldn't be able to cross a few seconds later because police stopped traffic onto the bridge.
Wonder if one of those was the pickup truck that fell into the water, drowning the road crew in the cab .
The clarity on this video is amazing. Thank you. RIP to all lost.
if only alien vids were too.

Engineer trying to restore power was probably sweating bullets.
Or not
Not really it's done via computer
@@travisrieder8710not always.
Think about that for more than a second.
@travisrieder8710 So the computer turns the propeller... There still is a engineer(s).. an engine crew etc.
I remember having anxiety attacks about this as a child whenever my dad would drive across a bridge. I’d pray it wouldn’t just drop. Jesus, I can’t imagine the shock and fear that crew felt before plummeting. I pray we get better news soon.
Your anxiety became someone's reality 💀

Genova, Italy bridge collapse
Same!! I also have the same feeling when passing under a bridge/viaduct/tunnel 🥵💀
My close neighbor works as a cargo ship captain and was at the place of departure and saw the whole thing happen with all of the mayday calls and everything. The captain of that ship was also one of his very good friends.
Tell them Australia sends love and wishes for a speedy recovery. 🧡
I can't imagine how the captain must've felt 😭
The captain that happens to be Ukrainian?
If the ship lost power, I hope the investigation gets to the cause of it soon
Well it won't matter but the problem is that the concrete piers weren't protected. Surprised that it didn't happen before. Why?
@knightrider693 I do agree with you, but I gotta wonder how much concrete would it have taken to stop that thing? At best I could only imagine it would deflect the ship some. It will be interesting to see what engineering youtube channels say about this situation.
@@knightrider693bro do you know how heavy a ship is?
@@knightrider693F=M*A doesn't matter how much protection there is... I doubt any bridge in the world can handle being hit by a 200k ton container shop without failure or severe damage
Nevertheless a rudder can divert a ship so some kind of ramp with the correct angle could probably redirect one by a few degrees too.
The silver lining is that the ship’s crew and bridge authorities acted fast. Had the pilots not signaled mayday quickly and the bridge authorities not acted immediately, the loss of life might’ve been much greater…
When they called for mayday they closed the bridge, not letting any other cars go over the bridge. I’m sure those last few cars that went over the bridge were already on the bridge after they called the myday. If I was on that bridge, in one of the last few cars that went over I would have so much anxiety that I would be one of the last cars before the ship crashed.
Why did the repair crew not leave too then? Was it a matter of seconds?
@@kayday1996 it was. Notice how cars were still crossing mere seconds before the collapse. I guess the bridge crew either did not get notified on time or they just had no time to escape. A real tragedy really.
Indeed - They turned it right into that bridge support!
Yes, several things happened that were right...the early warning system shut down traffic on the bridge, saving countless lives. Everyone did their job. This could have been much, much worse. Shout out to everyone who responded in a professional manner. 🌹
Mordecai and Rigby doing the most simple job
Holy Christ, those poor men of the road repair crews. 🥺
When confirmed, perhaps add the time of the mayday added to this video. Horrible incident…
My condolences to the family of the deceased people. Tragic.
For clarities sake I'd love if this video had a fast forward symbol or a speed multiplier symbol so we can see when it goes back to normal speed (because the boat took 3 minutes from first power loss to hitting the pylon, and the bridge took mere seconds to collapse)
There is a time ticker in the upper left. Shows the time as 1:25am and counting in seconds. Hope this helps
Its not just about fall injury, the trauma abd ptsd itself can leave you shaken for atleast years and may even temporarily cause mental problems

Might even be lifelong instead of temporarily :(
Just glad this didn’t happen during rush hour.
Although this situation is a tragedy and lives were lost, but given the situation everyone involved handled this beautifully. The crew of the ship desperately trying to avoid collision, and when it became inevitable the swift response from all authorities to in a split second completely close the bridge for passing traffic, amazing
I agree. when i first heard a bridge had collapsed, i thought fatalities would be in the hundreds at least. especially in a big city. this was sad but it could've been a lot worse
The ship was chartered by Mærsk (a danish company) and the news of this accident have traveled to denmark and we are sorry for what happened. Mostly to the dead and injured people, but also to all those whos everyday are changed from this event.
You are so Kind to offer your support and sweet words. I hope all is well. I’m sorry this happened as well. 😢
this specific bridge I would hold ly breath and my chest felt tight as we were driving over it as a kid, this was my entire nightmare espescially with how well you could see over the side
I didn't know Boeing was making ships too....
😂 you win
Copy and paste lord.
There are many like Boeing out there.
Good thing is that the officials are all ACTIVE at the time, minimizing the casualties or perhaps eliminated it all completely. If the traffic wasn't stop 100% alot were dead.
My God this is heart wrenching. I’m praying for understanding and comfort for the loved ones of the people who were lost.
Imagine driving up to a bridge that massive thats no longer there
I cant imagine those last moments the crew felt, so heartbreaking, they didn't stand a chance
To be absolutely sure such things can't happen again, I guess you'd need to make it obligatory to have two tugboats connect at all times while close to the coast. Which would make shipping more expensive. So I guess what they'll actually do is improve maintenance checks regulations for ships.
The boat was guided by tugboats until it reached the channel.
Even if the 2 tug boats put full power to the ship they could not pull it against the ships rudder if it malfunctioned when the power went out
@sketchyssk8shop You're unnecessarily adding more unknowns to a situation with so many unknowns. I'd recommend What is Going On With Shipping's recent video on the matter.
* How about quit making the bridge out of toothpicks?
*How about much greater protections for bridge supports so they couldn't even get close?
@randallsmerna384 The easy answer is money and politics.
The time lapse is way off! It didn’t take 3 minutes for it to hit the bridge after it first lost power it was more like 45-1 minute.
So when a cargo ship loses power, there's no back up emergency something to allow the crew to steer or stop so something like this doesn't happen?
Probably, but I can't imagine any purely mechanical system being able to steer or stop such a a massive ship.
It takes a long time and distance for a ship Of that magnitude To slow down And stop
It take only four minute .. Go get your brain from your dustbin and put it in right place , if you have any space there .... What you think of a cargo ship of that big , your bicycle ....
@@ex_muslimapostate3676well that was needlessly rude
@@Micklemoose well if it's rude . Have you seen your social media ....
looks like the boat just turns straight into the bridge

Thank you for all of the yellow circles! This helped me understand it much better.
Imagine how those people felt! I saw cops there too inside their car! This is freaking heart breaking!!!
We are very fortunate that this didn’t happen first thing in the morning or in the evening
One of my fears is very slow traffic on a bridge or under a tunnel
It's just so odd how that happened at that exact moment and the ship turned into it and didn't just keep going straight.
the ship was in line with the support for awhile and was trying to stop or turn but these ships have a huge turning radius so they eveactuated the bridge besides road crews that stayed while it tried to not hit the bridge that's why it only partially hit the bridge as they had tried to redirect
this is actually so terrifying. i just can’t imagine how many people died and how the people who got rescued feel now.
Those last two vehicles missed the collapse by less than 6 seconds. Incredible
6 indian crew misssing out of 26.
Someone already had that contract somewhere 😂😂😅
Can I ask why the bridge collapsed entirely? It sort of folded in on itself
Because the ship took out an entire support beam
@Jonern12345 Yes, but there's been other boat and bridge disasters that have hit a support column and have not taken the entire bridge out.
@@3lli0 It was a continuous single truss bridge, basically just a massive solid cage balanced on supports; the bridge depends on every support to keep its structure. As soon as one support was lost, both the metal of the bridge itself started bending under its own weight, and the lost support's previously held load became redistributed onto the other supports, which was too much for them causing them to fail as well.
@@3lli0 the thing is that there are many many different ways to build a bridge, and some are cheaper while others are more secure.
This was a cheaper way to build a bridge, but few bridges can survive being smashed into by a 100000 ton ship. Bridges are just not generally built for that.
Live in Rhode Island and I am now more afraid of bridges that I ever was.
I've been on that bridge because I live in Baltimore I miss it so much
....ight imma say it the background song smooth asf
Amazing footage! 😮
If the last cars drove AFEW seconds later
This video clearly shows all the details of the tragedy. 😮
Those poor people.
Even on highways bridges still scare me
rip to the road crew
regardless of losing power looks like noone was watching where they were going
1. The ship passes completely under the bridge.
2. Ship crashes astern.
3. Ship backs into bridge.
no just a perspective thing from other angles you can clearly see that's not what happens
Wish the bridge crew had gotten a warning same time as Mayday, perhaps they could have had time to speed off. But their deaths were written. Very tragic. God bless their families, these were hard working men.
как же быстро все выяснили,а северный поток и ещё пару случаев!????
imagine being the people to cross the bridge seconds before it collapsed i would be mortified
I’m surprised the company operating the ship hasn’t come under more scrutiny.
People calling this a cyber attack, if it is, someone planned the worst possible time.
thanks for the reason to be scared of bridges
Now lets talk about this everyday for the next 364 days. The bridge that collapsed in Baltimore.
RIP to all lost
And INDIAN crew saved all of those people ❤ PROUD TO BE INDIAN 🇮🇳💓
Final destination moment
This is so sad and absolutely unavoidable. I hope a criminal investigation is done against their bosses and jailed. RIP
Make the shipping company pay for that bridge. Not the tax payers
this is my worst fear
Wow the mayday call did go through so quick. They almost halted out traffic completely it seems. Though we cannot see the other lane well in this video. Anyways hope everyone is safe and they don’t live on with massive injuries. Can’t even imagine
Then why not evacuate then road crew as well?
They did halt traffic in both directions, in record time. There may not have been time to get the construction crew off the bridge.
People on twitter: Lets just blame black people somehow
Duh, obviously it's (insert minority)
Pretty big coincidence that the black box is missing the only important part, which is the last 2 minutes.🤔
Thanks for the circle.
this is horrible..🙈lately news like this find me and i'm not good with these🙈😔i wish we were all safe..my condolences💔

I ask myself how is it possible that the ship loses power, twice.
Just out curiosity
What is causing the spark when final piece of bridge detaches
Is it electricity lines ??
Why are people surprised that a bridge collapsed when it was hit by a boat weighing more than 100,000 tons
This is literally my biggest fear
Final destination flashback😨
So no one told the repair crew!? 💔🌹😢
Building bridges in shipping lanes with heavy frieghtliners is just asking for a disaster . Tough way to learn a lesson.
can this decade cease to have historical events for 5 seconds?
We had titanic, Titanic sub, now this
Why did the whole bridge collapse, I get it was an epic vessel that hit one of the supports but the whole bridge coming down was a massive shock I just hope all the people survived
Who is sitting in the water directly filming this??????
Security Cameras exist, Y'know.
Bridge repair crew working at night on this bridge... Ship - no bridge to repair, no crew.... 😢
That boat turned into the bridge deliberately!
It lost rudder control and the current pushed it that way. There are many authoritative videos by people in the industry who have analyzed this and explained it.
Why is the federal government paying to fix it? Shouldn’t the shipping company be paying? 🤔
Probably corrupt politicians own it or pay to control them.
They will probably fight with the insurance company for reimbursement, but the thing is that this is such a vital access point, they need this bridge rebuilt ASAP and don't want to wait. At least that's what I see
Because it was a aetup
They have to deal with the situation immediately, settle up later. Both water and road traffic in the area are shut down and crippling the city and region. First things first.
Imagine driving over that bridge, getting home and finding out you only just made it over the bridge.
This is so sad Sending prayers to all ✨🙏🏼

It will be interesting to see what the NTSB says the actual cause was and with whom responsibility lies. Rest in peace to those workers who didn't survive.
I would never cross a bridge again, so sad :( ❤
Why?
You guys should look into the Genoa bridge collapse...
Can anybody tell me why there's a plume of fire everywhere the bridge breaks?
dust not fire just black becuase asphalt
amazing
Anyone who saw the explosion as the ship crashes
Terrorist attack. The main part of the bridge was targeted. Pay attention people. First it was the cell phone issue then Internet issues, now a cargo ship dat turned at the exact angle of the bridge main support system. Loosed power then gains power and steer towards the main beam and looses power again so I can't stop it. Then gains power back right before the collision 🤔
What's the death toll?
6 so far i think
Were most the deaths from the road repair crews being on the bridge?
What a mess. How frightening.
Prayers from Korea
who exactly was responsible for this ship?
A Baltimore harbor pilot, this accident could have been easily prevented by use of tugboats.
When a bridge collapses in China everyone blames them and ridicules them, and here we are less that a month later
that road repair was there for nothing basicly
Who drove that ship?
Одним движением мост превращается, превращается мост ...
