Another place IGBT has REVOLUTIONIZED is Welding-Machines. Instead of using large, expensive, heavy, transformers, the IGBT circuits can control the high-current needed for welding. This allows VERY good control over the welding process. (pulsed welding current)
Great introduction to IGBT. But best of is your clear diction, delivery speed and soothing accent. l am English and have a very flat almost depressive accent ...often assiatedwith low IQ by ignorant British people. It is part of my heritage and as a Radio Ham I seem to be understood world wide ... Thank you ...James H

Another example for IGBT's is the auto industry. The EV's are running on battery which has DC. However the e-motors are using AC. Thus an inverter is needed (DC >>> AC). And the IGBT's are the key parts of the inverter.
How can we use triac bt136 for controlling fan speed in remote control circuit with capacitor supply but not transformer supply.please suggest proper circuit including zero crossing.Regards
One of the biggest areas of use he missed, is welding. Welding is the most important way to join metals. It’s used in building construction, ship building, airplane construction, automobile and truck cinstruction, tanks and other machines, and almost everything else. Virtually all modern welders are inverter designs using IGBTs. They used to use MOSFETS, but those are either obsolete, or are used in very cheap welders from China.
Again an almost useless video channel parroting simple facts that are available in for instance wikipedia. This video lacks important information. One disadvantage compared to BJT is that IGBT isn't suited to operation in the linear region, rather, it is almost always used as a switch (there are some rare exceptions). The die isn't suited to linear DC currents, but local hotspots are prone to appear and will destroy the transistor even at low power levels. Another application is big industrial frequency converters and inverters (up to MW sizes). They can be used in HVDC applications up to 6 kV (kilovolt) and several kA (kiloampere). Also used in HVDC transmission applications.
Great video 👍, but .... Please please please...... We are very apprehensive of anything that has GBT in its name. We use this to educate innocent children. Any chance of changing the name?😁
You need to be able to deal with the world and not be scared of a name. You do know that there are male, female, hermaphroditic and gender changer connectors. God forbid if you were a plumber and had to deal with nipples. It should be funny and nothing more.

Gives a good, basic understanding of the IGBT

I guess I'll have to start work through your tutorials soon.

Great Video. Thank you.
Thank you. Yes I did like 👍🏻this video .
Very helpful indeed!
very well done, short and concise.🤩
Thank you so much ☺️
நன்றி...
Great video
Thank you so much ☺️
Excellent 👌
Thank you so much 😊
@@eeapplications You welcome 🤗
Thanks❤

Well-Done
My immediate answer was "..its a transistor that identifies as a electromagnet".
More like bjt identifes as mosfet
That’s funny as hell😂
Hahaha
So nice thanks sir
How to measure igbt and mosfet with multimeter?
Excellent
thank y
Everythings 🙏
I see IGBTs in motor control circuits in our smt machines.
And I thought the primary drawback, compared to a MOSFET, is the voltage drop...
Don't forget they are also used in Welders.
Should have included a transfer function graph.

Forgot the VFD
I'm not convinced - igbt's seem to be over expensive.
Okkk
Feil Light
Where's the lgbt ones? Or are they/ them ones.😂😅

Ah, no. It's an industry standard name, much like master-slave flop-flops and male and female connectors.

What do you mean by male-female connections?
Sounds anti GBT for me?🤔
Change *your* name.
