I‘m playing a randomizer Nuzlock of Pokemon White. I caught an Ivysaur and called it Matt, because he has a bud on his back…he was one of my best team members, but died yesterday 🪦 😢
@@zackswitch9656 I was being cocky because I hadn’t lost any mons yet and had a strong team 😕 He was in against a Krookodile who was using, what I thought at the time were unthreatening moves like torment and mudslap. I was annoyed that I keept missing and used speed up. I remember seeing that it had used sand tomb but missed and I even thought it would be bad to get trapped in…but I keept going, thinking I would hit razor leaf 🍃 then it hit sand tomb and I realised that I was suddenly caught in a deadly situation. Because of torment I had to use venoshock every other turn, which hit once but didn’t do much damage, and I always missed razor leaf until the accumulated damage from sand tomb an mud slap took him out…this could have been avoided, if I had slowed down for a second and thought things through…I‘m sorry Matt, I failed you 😭
It's more than a stretch because huge power + even 1 SD gives 4x damage since 2x times the 2x, but two swords dance give 6/2x, or 3x damage. So yeah not really comparable, different stuff each ability is changing
I can't believe MattBud forgot the move "Subscribe" which has the same effect as the ability "Loyal Viewer" Also the move "Like" has the same effect as the ability "Algorithm Booster" which boosts the video's performance for the UA-cam algorithm
anger point and belly drum are roughly the same, but require hp loss in some form and maxes out attack. then teleport and emergency exit/wimp out. i chose teleport because it is the only pivot move without extra effects. focus energy and super luck are close but focus energy raises crit by 2 stages. spiky shield and rough skin/iron barbs is one too somewhat. then there’s recycle and harvest
If we get a new "On Switch" ability (like Drought, Drizzle, etc), it would be really cool if they went and add Mist or Magic Room (but for your enemy) as one of those, as could have incredible potential
Purifying Salt has the ghost resistance because of the usage of salt in rituals to fend off evil spirits. I think some stuff in the game is more about lore or physics (like the weather accuracy moves or miniminze against stomp) than it is about balance.
Weather - Drizzle (rain dance), drought (sunny day), sand stream (sandstorm), snow warning (hail), Contact status and field conditions - flame body (will o wisp), poison point (poison gas), toxic debris has some overlap with toxic spikes. Terrain setting moves all have their equivalent abilities. Magnet rise overlaps with levitate. Super luck overlaps with focus energy. Probably missed some stuff but it was a fun exercise. Shadow tag / arena trap have some overlap with block and mean look. Bad dreams overlaps with nightmare.
Quick handful missed: Anger Point and Belly Drum (maxed attack for getting crit or sacrificing half health); Pickpocket and Thief (only on contact, but still steals the contacting pokemon's item if the pickpocket mon doesn't have one); Embargo and Unnerve (originally wrote Neutralizing Gas, but that was wrong) (embargo stops all item use, but effectively the same in VGC or Smogon formats regarding berries); Mist and Good as Gold (to an extent); Brick Break and Screen Cleaner (the latter juat lacks the damage); Nightmare and Bad Dreams; Heal Bell/Aromatherapy and Pastel Veil; Endure and Sturdy; Recycle and Harvest (under the sun for berries only); Swords Dance and Defiant; Nasty Plot and Competitive (both of these last two only after a stat is lowered by an enemy, but ...); Conversion 2 and Protean/Libero (only in regards to the ability pokemon's first move); and finally Entrainment (used by an opposing pokemon) and Trace. Honorable mention to Fell Stinger and Moxie (though the former boosts harder). This was all I could think up given a mix of existing comments and abities/moves I could think of on short notice. There are probably more, but I'm tired, so I'm gon' go to sleep and other viewers can toss in more they can think of that I missed after this.
Embargo and Neutralizing Gas aren’t close to being the same, Embargo only stops held and bag items from being used, and Neutralizing Gas shuts off all abilities while Weezing is currently on the field.
Unseen fist and Hyper Drill/Mighty Cleave, with the destinction of Unseen fist only working for moves that make contact I suppose. Also the movie feint , although it also removes the protection letting your partner hit aswell in doubles
woah wait, Defense curl has unique interaction with completely unused niche moves? I need more info about stuff like this, such as how grassy terrain nerfs damage of earthquake and earth power (I think?)
A good next video idea you could do is see which moves exist that would be better off if it was made into an ability instead. That would be an interesting take for sure.
Topsy Turvy already exists, but I think they can introduce a move that deploys a field where all stat changes will be reversed for the next 5 turns, essentially giving all Pokémon on the field Contrary. Also if a Pokémon with Contrary is affected by this field their stat changes will just work like normal lol
Mimicry would probably be better if it was given to a Pokemon with the ability to learn the terrain moves and STAB moves of the terrain types, neither of which Galarian Stunfisk has.

Huge Power is a bit of a stretch since it isn't a stat boost, so you can still get to+6.

speed boost and agility? Acupressure and moody? Maybe plasma fist and galvanize? Also, somewhat no gaurd and lock on

Sharpen (move) should boost the power of slicing moves
