    An excellent review, very well done.
    I've heard all the complaints about turbulence from the screen or fork cavities but dont notice any of that on my own AT. Im 6ft (184cm) and wear a Bell Adventure9 lid with the peak. I do however agree the tool kit location was a ridiculous decision and hope that whoever signed approval for that at the factory, is no longer on Honda's payroll.
    Ive owned my bike since February 2016 and love it completely. An excellent motorcycle.

    • @Motoeuro
      @Motoeuro  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for you comment! I have struggled with the screen, anything over 40mph on the stock screen I get turbulence! Not everyone suffers from this, but for me, it's very distracting. Pleased you like your Africa Twin, it is a fantastic bike. Cheers :)

    I have a CB500x and have the exact same issues with my Windscreen. I'm surprised not more poeple mention these sort of issues in review.

    First time viewer subbed! After 8,000k in 5 months & a bran new rider myself. I have dropped the bike many times off-road hehe but I am having the best time of my 45 year o,d life on Vancouver island and main land BC. Thank god I am 270 pounds with a bit of beer belly or I could never lift this thing. I am surprised what this bike can do off-road. scratched up the new Remus exhaust a bit though and my storm barkbuster hand guards are scratched to hell but fantastic! also the low profile sw motech crash guards have done a stellar job. I'm a Very very happy camper. Thx for the great review!

    Unfortunately for *Motoeuro* Honda has put a lot of "high tech. gizmos" on their newer Africa Twins. They now have:
    - throttle by wire (no longer by cable)
    - power modes
    - cruise control
    - TFT touchscreen display
    - cornering lights
    - on the newest ATs both headlights are lit instead of the one of older ATs.
    - Apple CarPlay
    - etc.
    From 2018 to 2020 Honda has addressed a lot of the issues *Motoeuro* rightfully brought up on the Africa Twin/Africa Twin Adventure Sport.
    ALSO, the "fork tunnel wind" has been fixed by the aftermarket with a:
    ForkShield Updraft Airflow Deflector or also called the ForkShield Updraft Airflow Air Dam Wind Deflector.
    So now the Africa Twin/Africa Twin Adventure Sport is complex but also better.
    Note: *get the 5 year extension warranty* just in case.

      @@Motoeuro I saw that one (your newest video on the 2020 Honda Africa Twin) and it was a good video. Maybe you like the older Africa Twin better than the 2020s but...
      FOR ME
      I owned a 2017 Honda Africa Twin and I too liked it just the way it was, simple but advanced enough. The AT is the 2nd best motorcycle I have ever owned. The 1st and always will be the best for me is my bought new at the time - ☝️Yamaha Seca 650cc, four cylinder, shaft driven motorcycle.
      Today, I own a 2018 Africa Twin Adventure Sports motorcycle. Yes, I traded in the regular AT.
      MY VIEW OF THE DIFFERENCES
      - The 2020 AT Adventure Sports is better than the previous ones.
      - The 2020 AT Adventure Sports version is a little better than the regular 2020 AT because it has more high tech. Gizmos and features.
      - Even though their prices rise every year Honda motor cycles are a good deal as they are (with Yamaha) are the most reliable motorcycles.
      So unlike 🏥 BMWs or 🎲 Harley Davidsons, *Hondas* will work reliably even after their warranty expires. Honda has embraced modern technology and FOR NOW at least make it work well with their bike's, from the little Honda Super Cub all the way up to the Honda Gold Wing.
      God bless and Happy Valentine's Day. Time for ☕.

    I enjoyed your video. I like the way you "reviewed" this motorcycle. It's like you would tell a friend if he asked you about your bike. I am keen on the Africa Twin. Many years ago I bought a Suzuki DR650. It was rubbish on the trails and the pavement, at least for me. I had to pick it up a number of times: what a pain. I'm afraid of dropping the Africa Twin and not being able to pick it up. I'm also afraid of messing it up if I drop it. It is such a pretty bike. I have spent the last 10 years on a Harley Davidson Road King. I dropped it a few times in the first year I owned it. It was dead easy to pick up despite the weight. It might seem odd to make this kind of a switch, I loved my Road King but I'm looking for a new type of adventure.

    • @Motoeuro
      @Motoeuro  5 років тому

      Thanks Gerald. Yes, the AT is a heavy girl, and if she goes over off-camber then the bike will be a dead weight! Best of luck on your adventures, if you have the time check out our Adventure to Spain ( ua-cam.com/video/UMaf35WmiOE/v-deo.html ) and my catch-up video afterwards when yes, I could not pick up my GS...... ( ua-cam.com/video/O1mvaWnMjTo/v-deo.html ) All the best :D

    I fixed the horrible fork updraft with a Swegotech fork updraft deflector. Absolutely transformed the comfort of the bike. That coupled with an MRA X-Creen spoiler on the stock windshield and highway speeds feel like youre standing still. Almost zero wind and no buffeting whatsoever. The bike is transformed.

    A great review and helpful. This is the obvious choice for me as I have owned and ridden around Australia, an XR250, XL600, & NX650 through all manner of conditions, cyclones, deep sand, drowned bikes in crocodile infested river crossings, & nearly ended up dead on the front of logging trucks, garroted by barbed wire, or just busted subframes, splines, thrown chains, or other craziness. Yes it is a big pig, but my hope is that with a bit of care, i might be able to fling it lightly over hundreds of kms of corrugations or deep sand. Bulldust could pose a real danger as this bike on top would not be fun.

      Hi Nikolas, both will do fine - If you're staying on-road only the GS might just be the better bike for the job. If you're running some trails and wild camping, the AT is the one :D All the best and good luck :D

    Hi, nice Channel! Do you heard something about The "Forkshield"? Its release The Problems with The turbolences at your helmet.. Its expensiv.. 80$.. But at first you can buildt something like the forkshield for testing..
    To me, the AT is the most wonderful Bike i rode in the Last two years since i may drive motobikes.. I test a Lot of Honda Bikes. Got a cbr650f, cbr600rr and at least The Cbr1000rr from 2010.. The change to the AT with DCT was my best decision..

    I am struggling to make my mind up between the tiger XRT and the 2018 Africa Twin DCT. Will probably use them 95% of the time on the road. I think I prefer the low down torque of the Twin. However heated seat, heated grips, fog lights and cruise control and a more comfortable ride and free panniers with the tiger are a sticking point. I wish someone could make the decision for me because I can’t stop wrestling with it lol.

    • @Motoeuro
      @Motoeuro  6 років тому +1

      Yeah, hard choice - If you’re really going to stay on road 95% of the time, that 21” front on the AT isn’t the best IMHO. I’ve never ridden the Tiger, but I would explain your dilemma to the dealers and get extended test-rides. Both Honda and Trumpet will give you a full day on each if you ask - Especially this time of year they’re REALLY needing those sales to hit targets :D The Honda DCT is excellent, a mate has one he loves it! And don’t be afraid to push them for their best price - Ive seen brand new manual AT’s for less than £10k brand new, 2018 model. Make sure you haggle and get your 1st service free and some ‘extras’ - Honda OE heated grips are useless!! All the best, have fun :D

      I've owned both. Great bikes each. If you go with the DCT, get the toe shifter. It really adds character to the bike. I personally find the AT to be more fun to ride, but to each their own. Good luck mate.

      @@Motoeuro I couldn't get on with the DCT. I had it for 4 months lol. Found the 21inch front tyre hard work and it felt too tall and heavy for me. Hi Azmir, tough choice! But my gut would go for Africa Twin. If you are riding only roads then the GS. And if you are riding 2-up, the GS also. But if you're exploring and riding some dirt, the Honda is better - good luck, all the best :D

If I were you, I’d talk to each dealer and get an extended test ride on both, run them on the same trail and roads and that will give you your answer! I hope! Cheers :D

      I tested a 2019 tiger 800. Its more of a sport bike approach to ergos with less power and capability off road. Was fun but the AT is trump. Touring I feel is better in AT better riding position. Better dealer support as well. Bought the 2019 AT with gold rims. LOVE every minute of it.

Lightweight in the days before trail bikes as we know them, and you could ride for 100s of miles before going off road
