I’m at 5th month at guitar and bass. It looks easy but actually not for a beginner. You need a proper right hand technique and stamina for this song, otherwise you will mess up especially at 0:30-0:50. Most Gojira songs look easy to play but they are really tiring, you need to improve your dex first 🙂
Leo, hot damn bro. I just saw Gojira last Wednesday and this song went so hard. I’ve heard them well before seeing them but now having a moment of observational listening of their songs, it is mind blowing, just as I found my love for Tool’s music. Your tabs are amazing and you are a badass musician. I’m already learning the chant, it’s coming along well!
Question: why not use the 5th string instead of tuning down? Is it just to teach people the 4 string version or would you see an issue playing the low notes on the B string?
I personally only use the 5th string when it's actually called for in a song, but I like playing 4 string songs on the 5 string anyway because of the slightly closer string spacing (not quite as far to jump when skipping strings with the pick hand)
Well, it's my transcription of the song. So it's probably like above 90% accurate. You can never know for sure when it comes to bass cause you can't hear every picked note. I look at a lot of live videos so it's safe to say that Gojira almost exactly plays it like this :)
stranded seems pretty straight forward (I dont play any instruments). I'm wondering if jean michael chose to be a bass player with the intention of being able to rock out and jump around on stage and not really have to worry about crazy precise solos, ooor if he rocks out and jumps around because of this freedom he gets with playing bass in gojira hehehehe
Me being a bass player I’d have to choose the latter because playing bass on a stage doesn’t mean that you can’t go super hardcore with a heavy presence. I love jumping around and headbanging while plucking my thicc strings, I find it way more fun and heavier tonality wise to play bass than normal 6 string guitar anyways, so I’m sure Jean feels the same way
I’m just learning the bass and was looking for an easy metal song to cover that I actually like, think I’m going with this one thanks
Have fun!
How’s your bass progress going
this is not a easy metal song to cover -_-

That’s a pretty difficult timing/strumming pattern. Good luck on your journey!🤘
this song is simple but fun as hell to play

Thank you so much man! Glad you enjoyed the show :)
I swear, every Gojira song is an arm workout for bass players.. 😅
Most definitely. And this is nothing compared to Backbone or The Art of Dying
@@LeoBassCovers2 Facts man. I’m still trying to learn Backbone, that bassline absolutely slaps
Another excellent vid dude you have helped me to get back on my bass one day I will reach your level of mastery thanks
Thanks man. You'll get there!
Just saw gojira live yesterday in Iowa! Hell yeah!
Song is the perfect example of simple but effective🤘🤘🤘🤘

It's to teach people the 4 strings version yeah. It's not really about me showing off the B string.
@@LeoBassCovers2 Cool, nice cover by the way!
the bassist originally plays on a 4 string that’s why

Question, this is really the way Gojira plays or a version that you created? It's really solid and simple

Awesome
That’s a beautiful bass, how much was it if you don’t mind me asking? I know they get pretty expensive
It was 1300 euros when I bought it years ago :)

Also Gojira riffs are hard af, even this seems simple but that strumming pattern is pretty tough to do consistently
love gojira but man those long chug gallop things are killing me lmao
You'll get there though
Playing this without a pick is quite hard/impossible, but hey, at least i can practice with my left hand
I'll be honest, i would not want to play this without a pick.. good luck!
C'est Super aucun français alors que c un groupe fr 😭😂
Le metal, c'est interculturel 🤘
