- How to apply for a Residence Permit at the Foreign Office in your city and I have shared my own experience at the German Foreign Office and discussed important tips for the Visa process.
Residence Permit in Germany also known as Aufenthaltstitel or RP and you have to submit documents at Foreign Office. Please do clear all your doubts with your Visa Officer, they are really very helpful.
Once you have landed in Germany, you must be wondering how to get RP or Residence Permit. As you only get 90 days visa for your entry in Germany, please make sure to get a Residence Permit before your visa expires.
This step by step guide will help you through this process. I have shared the list of documents along with my own experience of getting a Residence Permit at the Foreign Office of my city/ Ausländerbehörde.

The Residence Permit Card allows you to stay in Germany and works like your identity card in Germany. It's also like an extension of your stamped 90 days visa for Germany.
Generally, you will find many websites on how to apply for a residence permit in Germany. This video has both steps as well as my own experience of getting a residence permit and temporary residence certificate, also known as a fiction certificate in Germany.

Documents Required for Residence Permit / Aufenthaltstitel in Germany are:
Valid Passport-Do check its validity (You do not get RP beyond the expiry date of your Passport)
Completed Residence Permit application form-also known as the Antrag auf Erteilung eines Aufenthaltstitels
2 current 35mm x 45mm biometric photo
Proof of Employment-Appointment Letter
Proof of Health Insurance
Bank Statements / Blocked Account Details
Proof of Residence-City Registration/Meldebescheinigung
Wohnungsgeberbestätigung (House Certificate)
RP Fees: approx. 100 Euros

I used the second option.
Fiction Visa is given for free too the white paper one, in case of students. My initial visa got expired and i got my residence permit after 6 months of expiry

Yes its same if you are on either job visa or students visa which is only for 3 or 6 months

I have a question: my husband reached Germany last month on ICT (infra company transfer) visa . His visa is for 6 months . Which will expire on Nov. is it possible to get appointment before the visa expire or he shud wait till November to apply for Residence permit appointment
Residence Permit should be applied as soon as he gets his city registration done along with house rent agreement (Take appointment right away). No point of waiting till November.

Rental Angreement is required because in the application, another form is attached which the landlord of the property signs. This form has all the details of the house like size, who is going to rent it , how many rooms, etc
Hi thanks . How to take appointment for residence permit at Ausländer büro ? After we apply for city registration , do we need to wait for mail to get the appointment for RP ? Please clarify appreciate.
You can check where is the Ausländerbehörde in your city and contact them via email or phone. During covid only online appointments were given. I am not sure about the status as of now if its back to walk in or not?

Each city has a website that helps with appointments (termin). You will also find a website for your city where you can get appointment at Auslanderbehörde.

Hi, Yes this is possible, You do get time to search for job after completing PHD, the time is like 18 months as per my knowledge, but the earliest time you can get the PR is like you have completed working in Germany for 2 years and you have B1 level of German knowledge, I have added this idea in my list of videos and will surely make something around this soon!

Hi, I would suggest you to shortlist the courses you are interested to apply for and then drop an email to respective email id present on the website of the university. Generally, if you go through courses on daad, there will be an email id present and a person assigned to each course.

No, you dont need German Certification to get Residence Permit (RP). You only need German to get Settlement Permit / Permanent Residency

Yes I think so 🙂 You also get this confirm once you meet your visa office at Ausländerbehörde.

Visa stamp is either for 3 months or 6 months initially which is there in your passport. Validity of Residence Permit depends on the course time. If its 2 years then 2 years validity.
If your course is not complete within that time then validity of RP can be extended by visiting Visa office.

@@EriInGermany I am on dependant visa, so I need to wait to get my residence permit and then apply for work permit (with the job contract of the job I will get )….is this correct ?
@@pizzaIsAnEmotion Yes first step is to get residence permit then you can work in any company if you get a job.
Its not necessary to apply for work permit, dependt visa comes with the benefit of working also. You can work till the time your spouse has permission to work in Germany. Just inform your foeign officer if you company asks for any additional document.
Another case-
If you want to apply for work permit then its like you are looking for independent work visa which doesnt depend on your spouse. You will have to speak with your foreign officer again in this case. This involves some morr paper work and your visa office will help

If you are coming on student visa, then you will have to apply for residence permit (RP). For every long term visa like Work or Student, one has to apply for Residence Permit. Once you apply for RP you will get a confirmation of application.
i still have not received it. its been 3 months now. What should i do? Should i go there and ask? My letter that they gave me also has expired. Should I go there and ask what happened to my visa wit my letter having expired? Please let me know.

Hi, you should contact via phone, the city website has phone numbers of all the foreign officers. They will most probably decide to issue you a temporary visa. Is it already 3 months since you arrived?

Call/email your visa office and tell them you have received the pin, they will ask you to come to Auslanderbehörde and collect your Residence Permit.

If they gave you temporary visa , that okay. Dont worry and just wait. There’s no concern.
Is RP required for starting a job?
Depends you are here on which visa.
For example, if you come here on bluecard, you join the company and you get RP within 1 month. The application starts as soon as you are here in Germany.
I work in Malta now, I’m an Indian Citizen, one employer is ready to give me contract. What can I do further ?
Do you have EU Bluecard? Is your employer not helping with the process? You can request for guidance from them.

Request for support from your new employer, I am not sure if you can consult a German embassy in Malta or contact the foreign officer of the city where your employer is.

I feel tricked and click baited all the time especially when i dont have enough data to jumping around looking for information. I am sure i am not the only one who feels like this typically people will just click away. And majority I see doing this on youtube are people from the indian subcontinent.
I typically do not comment when i see such things i just close them and go on about looking for other videos. But i will like to take this chance to give some advice.
If you put the title in english obviously anyone who would want to watch understood the title and probably speaks english so why not just speak english. You will have a further reach this way. But if you have no desire to spread the information to non-hindu(assuming the language) speakers why not just write the title that way so we the non-hindu speaking dont have to click the video in the first place. It saves us sometime and data.
I now have it at the back of my head i usually skip videos whenever i see a Desi looking person coz i feel he/she might just end up speaking hindu. But some actually want to share the information in english. I think it does a deservice to these people.
Atleast you can try indicating in your titles "(in HINDI)" or something like this. That is courteous and would likely not draw more than the attention of hindi and negative reactions. Fortunately for you though youtube is disabling the disklik button.
