perhaps for a waste oil burner you could try adding a central obstruction to increase turbulence? Not sure how it would work though, a cone or a double cone of carbide in the burn chamber and have the air/fuel mix hit the cone to dump heat into the fuel and vaporize it?
For my foundry, I am not using a nozzle, but an orifice that allows the atomized fuel to enter,(through the pipe where most propane burners fit in) whether it be diesel, propane or waste oil to be injected into it. It is nothing more than a piece of stainless pipe and a plate welded to itMy inlet tube / orfice is 1 1/4 inch ID with an .5 inch inlet, and be correct size inlet, which is not the same for the nozzle set ups. I believe using the nozzle outside the foundry is a large loss of energy, prior to entering the space (massive radiant heat loss). Also I have found that if to much air is added to the mix in the foundry, and getting the perfect burn, it will actually be running cooler. I can now melt cast iron with out a problem. and both fuel use and air volume have decreased. . Your fuel delivery is perfect, a focused nozzle is not needed for a foundry, but the is only my finding. I believe The nozzle are must outside a confined burn chamber.
Booyah! Looking forward to this. I have a cranky torch that is a bitch to light...but I grok what you have made here. They take time to warm up, and catalytic cracking needsat least red heat and every fuel is different. Love it.
this is good for knife forges , i think i will give this link to the knife forum i am a member of its bad that i am not in the usa , because the postage and cost will be to much for me , its very intresting work you do thumbs up from Norway ,
Looking forward to waste oil test.... just a thought, Would waste oil need even more air?maybe a bigger hole. I am sure there is a maximum size for the nozzle to work...
I think alot of people get confused.... waste oil has alot more btu than diesel per liter.... and should be able to make more heat ( btu) ... but I think you are right the thick oil needs to become fumes to burn and some energy is being lost to make liquid into vapor... now if you recover waste heat and get it close to vaporizing before you burn it... (one reason propane is clean burning and can run towmotors inside )
then maybe... but that's another problem it will clog up the nozzle.....
One thing that I have done. (Kinda copied you.) Is preheat the compressed air going to the nozzle. Have a coil of copper pipe in the outlet of my wood stove... and it heats the nozzle and fuel in the nozzle. I have had hardly any problems with clogging even with a smaller tip than I normally use. But I do not let oil stay in the line to the nozzle I blow it out with air. I personally think preheating the air is the best thing to do seems to solve a lot of problems.
And it easy to make...
Thin the WMO with anything... methanol, used gun wash (what I use), gasoline... don't need much to get it as thin as diesel.
Am luking low silence burner please .1000 000$
