This is a reworked version of this song, the original is maybe a couple of minutes shorter. They extended the middle/solo section. Roy Z collaborated with Bruce on 3 of his solo albums. I love Bruce’s voice on this version, it’s great.

I love the fact that you really enjoyed this!! The song is about how he left Iron Maiden. He said in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine that he had no plan upon leaving Maiden. He just wanted to throw himself out there in the music world and see if people really liked him. I think the line he gave was something like "If I'd stayed with Maiden, I would have never found out because no one would have told me the truth." Basically saying he wanted to make sure people really just weren't saying he was great because of being in Maiden.
Anyway, thank you so much for reacting to this one, and I am just thrilled that you really liked it!

I'm breathless..... Really I am. Never heard any song from Tribuzy, til now. This song HAS to go down as one of the best rock anthems in the history of music. The music alone moves like a story of many chapters, with highs and lows, calms and storms. Then throw a Bruce in the mix, and the story is given it's essential word. Can't hide Bruce's gift, his tonal control has operatic inflections that bring life to anything he sings. No matter who he sings with. And then there's this band, Aren't they brilliant. Traditional old school rock played to utter perfection. I don't know them, or their music. But I'm going to look deeper into other material from them. Top notch is a term I use to place the best on a throne. But I need a new saying now. Toppest notch!! That might do it.
    Until next time, TTFN.

Hmm... as far as I am aware, this song is not from Tribuzy. The song is from Balls to Picasso album, from 1994. I think Renato Tribuzy was barely 20 years old at the time.

This is live from Renato Tribuzy's concert in Brazil in 2005. Different singers using the same band including Renato. Renato and Bruce do a song called "Beast in the Light" from this set. There is a DVD of this that is worth it if you can find one.

Gosh, you'd gone speechless for a minute there. You okay, fam? Need some alone time with Bruce's voice? 😅😄
This song was originally released on Bruce's 1994 record, Balls to Picasso. It was the first record that he had released after leaving Iron Maiden, with his debut album Tattooed Millionaire having been released in 1990 as a break from band conflicts before he'd released two Maiden records (No Prayer for the Dying and Fear of the Dark) and left in 1993. The album version is significantly lighter than this performance from Bruce's Tyranny of Souls era, but he and Roy Z had intended everything to be more like this than the acoustic-style on the actual record. For other live performances, I'd recommend the Foundation's Forum 1994 performance, where Bruce had played electric rhythm guitar as well, or the MTV's Most Wanted performance from that same era, which is acoustic and more like the album version. When Bruce played, his singing wasn't any less exceptional. It's absolutely marvelous to experience.
Bruce was exhausted by Iron Maiden's touring schedules, and had felt jaded by Steve Harris' ideas for the band. They were recording in very small barns and trying out a lot of uncomfortable things that he wasn't up to doing, so in 1993, they had a tv special performance called Raising Hell, which was his last show with them until 1999, when he and Adrian Smith had rejoined Iron Maiden. That was considered Iron Maiden's lowest era, and Steve was going through a divorce as well. The band had almost completely called it quits. Luckily, things worked out for the better. 🥰💙

Love your reactions. You should totally react to a song that Citizen Soldier released recently called "Hand me down". It's so sad & relatable, very well done. 👍

Believe it or not, Bruce's solo career isn't that well-known. He'd had a greatest hits album, but the truth is, as fantastic as his work was, and as many great musicians as he'd had on his records, including Adrian Smith and Janick Gers, very few of his songs had really made any headway in terms of mainstream impact. This is generally considered to be his only major, familiar song for most people outside of committed Iron Maiden fans, with a distant second being All the Young Dudes, a cover he'd done in tribute to Mott the Hoople, who David Bowie had written and produced the song for to stop them from breaking up back in 1972. For that song, I'd recommend the Dive Dive Live! version Bruce had performed, because I consider that to be one of his crowning solo era moments, or the music video, which is fairly iconic. Original song probably recommended also, or there's an official blended one with both Mott the Hoople and David Bowie, using Bowie's demo vocals. Everything really does come full-circle. Bruce loved '70s English rock with a burning passion.
Another Bruce Dickinson song that's popular is Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter, which he'd recorded for one of the A Nightmare on Elm Street films, but the Iron Maiden version recorded after it is significantly more mainstream. It's an odd situation, because people knew who Bruce Dickinson was, and they knew that Blaze Bayley in Iron Maiden wasn't their favorite singer in the world, but for some reason, his albums were passed over in a huge way. In retrospect, Iron Maiden fans really love Bruce's solo material. It's just not Iron Maiden material, so it could never be as popular. Personally, I love Bruce's flair for conventional rock n' roll, great ballads like this, and some of his grunge-inspired material. Winds of Change, also from the Dive Dive Live! concert, is incredible.

I've always thought of Bruce's voice as operatic metal, similar to the late Ronnie James Dio. He's 63 now and has lost some of his extensive range, but makes the very best of what he has, and has lost none of his power or technique. Great reaction!

I prefer this one. Seeing and hearing him do it live is gives me multiple eargasms. I'm not gay, but my ears really love Dick(inson). The band and their guitar magic is awesome, too.
