David Draiman of Disturbed, and ex-Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo recently collaborated together to construct Device. The album takes strands from hard rock, industrial, and electronica, and as a result, Device's self-titled debut album for Warner Bros. Records is a focused, fierce, and fiery new machine.
It all started while the Grammy Award-nominated multiplatinum powerhouse Disturbed was on hiatus, Lenardo reached out to Draiman to collaborate on a song for the Underworld: Awakening soundtrack in late 2011. As soon as the singer heard the music, he was both intrigued and inspired. The duo then cut "Hunted" in Chicago. Even though the track didn't ultimately make the final soundtrack album due to circumstances beyond their control, Draiman urged that they hold on to it and continue writing music. Soon, they had an entire album's worth of material.
Upon finishing the record, Draiman enlisted Evanescence drummer Will Hunt and Dope and Rock of Ages guitarist Virus. Both Hunt and Virus jumped at the chance to be a part of this powerhouse trio. The three comprise the touring incarnation of Device.

Disturbed is on an extended hiatus so that members can explore other avenues, spend time with families, and attend to personal business. The entire band has been adamant in stating that Disturbed is not dead and that they will be returning, stating (and I quote): "The beast isn't dead, it's just sleeping!"

Yes, true. But, he did the same choppy/rap style singing in the verses. Honestly, this sounds a bit more like Disturbed than their new Evolution album lol. Except the whole electronics thing. That being said, I love the new Evolution album! It's different, in a really good way.

I agree with everything you just said except about Disturbed being Rock. Disturbed are Metal. In their early works they used a lot of techno and industrial type sounds, making them Nu-Metal, but in their later works they seem to have stopped using those sounds and just become a regular Metal band. I seriously hope they come out of Hiatus they are a great band, but then that would mean the potential for this band might drop as David would be trying to juggle two bands D: It's really lose lose

You are partially right. Disturbed has not broken up. However, David is the front man for the band Device. Geno Lenardo formed the band with David (though Geno will not be touring) Will Hunt and Virus were brought in as touring musicians, It is unclear if they played on any of the recorded tracks but as such I've not seen any information that makes me think they did. The guest appearances are made by the other artists. This is most definitely a band, a supergroup even. Check your facts.

Yes it is a side project but that does not negate it's qualities or it's status as a new band. Which they are. David is in fact fronting a new band, but he has not left Disturbed. Once Disturbed comes back of hiatus, the future of Device is uncertain. David may continue with them as well, much like Corey Taylor and Maynard James Keenan. These individuals front multiple bands. Corey fronts two and Maynard, three.

This is a new band? Disturbed in on hiatus atm and David is being part of Device in the meantime. Look it up if you don't believe me. Also, how come if they're not a band, they have a whole album out? Of course Device is a band.

I agree that Corey Taylor does it significantly well, but there's no denying that there's always a stone sour album coming out whenever Slipknot are on Hiatus (or at least seem to be), and vice versa. I do hope that Disturbed come out of hiatus, as I enjoy their works. However, I also think that Device has the potential to go far, and if David Draiman does attempt to be in two bands at once, one band is likely to suffer.
I beg to differ that the potential for the band stands to drop with David trying to juggle two bands.First, we don't know that it is his intention to do so. Second, Corey Taylor and Maynard both do it and do it quite well. Hell Maynard fronts three major bands and has done so quite well.

This song reminds me of Believe.
For one thing, it sounds unlike Disturbed in a lot of ways. If the vocals are the same, that is to be expected (although I have noticed differences in teh lyrics), but listen to the instruments. Pretty different.
And also, if it did sound just like Disturbed, that would be jepic because I love Disturbed. :)

Obviously someone who hasn't listened to much of the Disturbed catalog. Early on in Disturbeds career, we hear a little of the industrial sound in some of their stuff, but it was phased out as they became more definitive in their metal sound. David really likes that industrial sound and during the hiatus that Disturbed is on, he chose to front a side project that reflects more of this. The only similarity between this and Disturbed is Davids voice. He has a very recognizable voice. Case closed.

It's the same singer, and generally the same genre of music.
the lead singer is the same person who sings for disturbed. draimen is just takeing some time away from distrubed, but disturbed will be back eventually, trust me.

Reading what I could find about David making this side project it was the fact he wanted to do some songs that have a more electronic sound then Disturbed has. Wether or not he completely leaves Disturbed or just heads Device as his side project for now isn't really specified.

Why are you even disappointed that this sounds like disturbed, I take that as a good thing, I don't want David's particular singing style go to waste or something, that is what I enjoy the most
