Keep in mind, this might not hold up on less even or jagged surfaces and at the end of the day, it’s usually some component of luck involved in determining whether or not the glass will survive the impact intact

Why do drop tests always get done on flat ground. In normal usage, you’re more likely to drop it in the street and on different materials/areas. It’s raised stones and dirt that are more likely to smash the display at any height.

I find it hilarious that the glass is strong enough to where the blunt force of the ground will travel through it and damage the LCD before actually shattering the glass. Somehow Apple made the glass so string that it created an entirely different problem. I imagine the back glass would have broken early if not for the fact that the camera on the back protrudes and takes the entirety of the impact, preventing the back glass from ever taking a direct hit unless dropped on an uneven surface.
I thought the same thing, imagine making glass SO strong that now you have to worry about the internals breaking quicker than the glass. Absolutely crazy! I can see it now.. iPhone 20 now with 300% stronger internals, now your glass and internal oled panel will be fine. You also can now throw it off a fucking cliff and she will be fine. lol

Same, drop tests are very important but I want to see scratch tests as that has been my only issue with the 13 Pro. Next time a screen protector goes on day one!

Very strong phone but for resale purposes I put a case and glass protector. My iphone 15 pro max that is getting sold has no scratches at all. Looks brand new even with few accidental drops in the last yr
resale value? have you looked at apples trade in credits vs what the resale values are? they are neck and neck. Also apple doesn't give a shit if it's a scratched up or not just as long as it works. take of your case and let your phone breathe, when its time to get the 17 just trade it in my guy

Drop tests are dump. Most people use cases or they only drop their phone once or twice without a case, not 20 times in a row.
And why are you here watching this?
Well obviously lol it’s purely a test to see just how durable they are. I would hope no one drops their phone 5-10x in a row no matter the height or surface, straight butterfingers.
A lot more go caseless than you would think though. Not me, I drop my phone way too often but sure wish I did a screen protector when my 13 Pro was new before something in my pocket permanently marked my screen 🥹 Live and learn. Seems making glass less shatter-prone can make them vulnerable to scratches more

No offense to anyone, but I find these kinds of videos very idiotic and stupid because surfaces can be different. What if you are standing on the stairs? What if there are a lot of small stones with sharp edges under your feet? You are doing the same test standing on the same stone concrete but on a completely leveled surface. On this surface, even if it is stone, it can survive maybe 5, 6, or 8 drops. But if you drop your phone, for example, while standing on the stairs which have sharp edges, it will break on the first attempt. So basically, what I’m saying is that the scenarios can be different. In your scenario, maybe it will survive a couple of drops, but in another scenario, it will break on the first or second attempt. So you can’t say the glass is stronger or that it can survive. As JerryRigEverything says, “glass is glass and it breaks.
Good video. Only thing I can lightly critique is when you were showing the damage, you were more so showing yourself and not the audience. Every time it looked like you were headed to the camera, you ended up backing further away. Try to get some close-ups of those “little scuffs” next time, and it will be a 10/10 video.

You could have done this drop test on street. I think only few people will have drop it in flat surface.
Next time try different surfaces (asphalt, stairs, side walks) from normal heights before going higher...to simulate most of the real life drops...but thanks for the great video

Omg that is insane the entire front and back glass were untouched after a flat on the face drop from the neck. That is the hardest anyone will ever drop it and the fact it survived means I think apple finally achieved the strength we all want. I don't think im going to use a case for protection. With apple care + the strength of the glass there's no real reason. Even if by somehow the glass breaks its $29 repair. Thats about as a much as a case lol

I’ve wondered with these tests that if you repeatedly drop it from waist / head height, rather than from a higher height each time, will that still cause the phone to crack after the 5th/6th etc time.
I have thought that the drops from smaller heights might still be damaging/ weakening the phone but it will only show after the repeated drops.
These kinds of durability tests are pretty dumb!!!
