Hey, Dave! Here's a idea: Once Stacey has trained some more and gotten some games under her belt (and if she chooses Slaanesh)... welp, you know what to do. Khorne vs. Slaanesh!

@@SoftSpott yes and no. @PersonOf Color is actually partially right. One problem is that the community can be very bad for women since we sadly have quite a large amount of incels and "nice" guys in the 40 k community (they are also in the DnD community but since that game became kinda mainstream over the last few years it is not as bad) who actively gatekeep or are just acting all creepy towards women who try to join the hobby. Nick is a nice guy, when he plays with kids or new players I honestly feel like he wants to win, but he wants them to have a good time more.
Well, well, well! Usually I expect top-tier players from PlayOn's content, but it's quite refreshing to see an unseasoned commander try their hand at the battlefields of the 42nd Millennium! I still remember my first game of 40K like it was yesterday. I was walking around a Warhammer store in Ocala and there was nobody but a store clerk and me. I saw that the store had some armies from both 40K and AOS in a large display case. These weren't for sale, but when I timidly asked if I could try a round of AOS with some of the models, the clerk was nice enough to let me. The next week, I was back, as he'd promised me a round of 40K. So it happened: he offered me a choice between Salamanders and Custodes. I took the Salamanders, and he chose the Custodes. 400 points for both of us. The mission? Kill each other! Even though I hadn't played a game of 40K in my life before, many, many viewings of this channel's batreps and the d4chan wiki on the game made sure I knew what I was in for: a melee army that was as tough as a tank and hit just as hard in melee. So, knowing this, I purposefully selected the Salamanders. If there was one thing the Salamanders loved, it was melta, and I knew if i was gonna kill even one Custodian, I'd need guns better aimed at tanks than infantry...because our points limit was too small for massed dakka. So I chose a unit of 3 Eradicators each armed with a multi-melta(some hospitality on the part of my opponent, so I was cool, for those of you complaining only one Eradicator gets a multi-melta), 3 Bladeguard Veterans(felt bad about consigning such an powerful unit to be cannon fodder, but I knew I needed to make ABSOLUTELY SURE the Custodes didn't get into my Eradicators's faces, so I needed a tough unit), Incursors(had some points left over, so I thought I could use the extra melta rifles), and Adrax Agatone as my warlord(definitely my worst choice: A great beatstick, but no synergy otherwise, and I definitely didn't want to give my enemy Slay the Warlord for free. But I was forced to work with what I had available, and I did want a named character for fun reasons). It was a blast-I somehow managed to one-turn a ALLARUS TERMINATOR-in OVERWATCH, no less; and I was able to even wipe Custodian Guard-in melee, mind you- with my ERADICATORS, of all people(Man, I was laughing so hard when I did it-I thought I'd lost the game for sure.) In the end though, a slightly bruised Trajan charged my Eradicators and I immediately declared Overwatch, SOMEHOW KILLING HIM IN THE PROCESS! Nevertheless, it'll be amazing to watch Stacy's progress as she grows into a more experienced commander, and I cant wait to see what army she'll choose! EDIT: Realized I'd gotten the ending wrong. Trajan had actually gotten into melee with my Eradicators and he was so low on health I managed to knock his lights out with some lucky rolls. So I punched one of the best beatsticks in 40K to death with a unit that wasn't supposed to be anywhere near melee..WOW.
Personally 40k lore was what my drumline captain would regale me with back in freshman year in high school. At that point it was by FAR the most metal thing I’d ever heard of. I've been watching a couple videos now because I'm just getting into 40k. I've consumed a lot of lore, I convinced a friend to start the tabletop game with me. But I've been having a bit of a hard time following along in games. They're cool to watch for sure, but when everything happens so fast and rules and stuff are almost glossed over to keep everything moving it gets really difficult for a new prospective player to follow. I really appreciated this video because it did a good job of keeping action fast, tensions up, and still explain every move that was going on and I really felt invested in the game actually knowing what was going on. I hope you guys have done/will do more like this
Always good to see new players be excited about the game and the hobby such as Stacey, but what isn't shown here is her first reaction to seeing your displays of models in person. Playing your first game is magical, but so is seeing an army for the first time as it really gets the mind racing with ideas. I hope she does take the plunge and try her hand at something new. Its great to get more women involved and I hope it's something that we as a community can help foster.
That was so fun to watch! And Stacy definitely has to play World Eaters as her faction of Chaos Marines. I can already see her running up the board with huge squads of berserkers and cultists with Kharn the Betrayer leading the charge and something like a Brass Scorpion in support! Angron and Khorne are proud of your playstile girl xd
this was so awesome!! both the players and the narrators were great, but what struck me the most was how friendly and supportive the advice-giving was, and how genuine everyone involved was! most games can get pretty competitive and tense, especially when world champs come to the studio, but this video was fantastic at making the hobby seem both accessible and relaxing!
I 1000% remember my 1st game of 40K it was my 9th birthday in 2008 and it was amazing and what 40k means to me is having fun with playing the army ( tau) that I spent hours building and Painting
What a great battle report! The enthusiasm shown from both players goes a long way, and the editing makes it very clear what's happening and what's at stake, without getting bogged down in repetitive shots of dice rolling.
Really enjoyed watching a game play out for a complete beginner, as someone who's only painted warhammer for the past 8/10 years and been to intimidated by the rules and not being able to remember everything this really showed with a hot of help how much you can still enjoy a game. Thank you id love to see more of these match ups on the channel.
The energy and chemistry with these two are amazing, I couldnt stop smiling watching this game unfold, Teacher Nick is just as entertaining as Tau Nick!
All the Play On videos are awesome, but this one was especially great to watch as a brand new player. Thanks to your videos I now have 90 Cadians, some tanks, and a couple manticores all waiting for my paints to arrive in the mail (yay batch painting?). Looking forward to hooking up with some folks here in Nova Scotia and getting into 40k.
Man, nick is the funniest person on the channel along with tycho, they're one of the channels that helped me get into the hobby, keep up the amazing work
Every video like this where an excited and genuine teacher shows a new player the game helps bring more people to the hobby. Take heed, we all should teach people like Nick does. For the Greater Good of the hobby! Bonus points for getting more people like Stacey, she's a blast to watch and she must be back!
I mean she's a media industry professional and we normally get paid to be on productions, though I'm unaware of the specifics of this arrangement. If you want her on the show more the best thing to do is prove to Play On Tabletop that there's a good financial case to have her on: *Get your friends to watch/like/favourite this video *Support the sponsors of this video *Write in feedback to both Play On Tabletop and the sponsors how much you enjoyed this video and ended up supporting them financially
Really fun episode! I don't know you managed to contain the energy from both players and keep the building standing. And that chaos space marine with the plasma pistol deserves a daemonhood. Spoilers: I'm imagining him just cooly firing off his overcharged shots at the charging landspeeder before turning his back as it crashes to the ground behind him.
@@TheStaceyRoy oh noes... is Tycho ok?!? P.S. you might want to rethink playing Steve, ever since he's played/embraced Chaos I think he's only lost one game this year!
This was a great battle report! Clearly Nick did a good job of teaching (not to take away from Stacey's battle acumen). This is the kind of first game that will hook a person: crushing lows (all those 1s), glorious highs (the hero gunner spiking his overwatch) and a lot of fun and laughs with a friend. I hope we see her again!
I thought she seemed a little silly first but she really won me over, lovely personality and a quick wit. Loved the video! It really helped me as more of a painter understand the game. Bring Stacey back!
Bringing in new People for introductory exibition battles would be legitimate. This was well made as it could have been. Knowing Nick could have easily won, its about good will to the ppl and having fun. Also, Steves commentary is couldn't get any better. It's Comedic and insightful
I remember my first battle of 40k, it was in 2nd edition, I played Imperial Guard and it was a horrific one sided massacre... for my opponent. See in 2nd Ed, Guard got a 'preliminary bombardment' which dropped a battle cannon shells on you opponent b4 the game started, you got 1 plus an an additional 1 for every comm-link (which were restricted to command squads) and every tank in the army, routinely at 2000 points you dropped 8 before the game started, I used to watch enemy armies vanish pre-turn 1 then each vox let you call in an additional artillery strike each go if you passed a leadership test, combined with the tank reserve rules, combined arms at its finest!
Always awesome to see new players jump into the fray and join the fun! Nick did great teaching Stacey and, of course, his energy was infectious. Bravo gang! Here's to hoping we'll be seeing Stacey again some time
Great video. I've been bingewatching your battle reports for a few days now, and I have to say that for someone like me who has depressive tendencies, the energy of Nick and the whole team makes me feel so good. Keep up the good work!
Hahahahahahaha that was lovely game! Damn guys, I'm 40k veteran and that game made me smile a lot and wide :D And those reactions are brilliant. But those dice rolls maaaaaan, Chaos Gods are certainly looking favourably at this Young Champion :D By the Gods damn that plasma guy is having like ALL the luck and chaos gods themselves guide his hand. God damn that many overcharged shots, not a single 1, and that overcharged overwatch COME ON these dice are hot :D Maaaaan that video was great and fun to watch, would love to see more like that :D
@@TheStaceyRoy Glad to see that :) I do hope you'll have some more matches, maybe even on their chanel, there is SO MUCH MORE fun units and stuff in general.

So I am a brand new person to the hobby and I have been watching your content while painting my plague marines....I can't wait to get into my first game with them... I hope it is as good as this
I played my “first game” just yesterday. I based one army on the patrol box for space Marines and one army on the yet to be released custodies patrol. I played it against myself on my living room floor with cardboard scraps and 2, 5 inch diameter 5 inch tall candles for terrain. My units were some of my DND models for the custodians and groups of dice for the ultramarine‘s. It was more like a 600 point combat patrol Because I mucked up my teams on BattleScribe but they were still about equal to each other point wise. Still had a blast and was excited that I finally did it to actually try and apply the mechanics in a more real scenario. I think I’m gonna ask for custodies models for my birthday and Christmas so by the end of the year I can at least run a combat control against someone at a local game store with real models.
I love how Nick said the master of possession reached in and held the marine as a "muahaha, gotcha" and stacey let herself go imagining how he was demembering the marine from the window LMAO.
No lie, that was incredible. Her excitement is so good, I really hope to see her play again and would love to see what she would do with an army of her own. The fact that she is beautiful and likes the game is just extra sauce on that sunday.
New chaos marines with 2 wounds (finally) and 3 attacks as standard is going to be interesting. Nice to see you getting more people to the table. Please let Stacey return, she's hooked now!
If Stacey comes back, you guys should do a mini series of her progression as a player, to show how much she grew and got better. And then at the end, have her fight Nick again
As someone who not long ago bought the Chaos Start Collecting set on a whim, this was really good to watch! I don't have anyone to play with, but i'm a lot less worried about when I eventually do, so thanks!

this was so awesome!! both the players and the narrators were great, but what struck me the most was how friendly and supportive the advice-giving was, and how genuine everyone involved was! most games can get pretty competitive and tense, especially when world champs come to the studio, but this video was fantastic at making the hobby seem both accessible and relaxing!
I 1000% remember my 1st game of 40K it was my 9th birthday in 2008 and it was amazing and what 40k means to me is having fun with playing the army ( tau) that I spent hours building and Painting
Imagine having as amazing teachers as the cast and crew of 40k in 40min that must have been amazing
Now to wait for the part 2 where the Tyranids swoop in and nom on the survivors
This was great, gonna show this to anyone half interested in the hobby
All the Play On videos are awesome, but this one was especially great to watch as a brand new player. Thanks to your videos I now have 90 Cadians, some tanks, and a couple manticores all waiting for my paints to arrive in the mail (yay batch painting?). Looking forward to hooking up with some folks here in Nova Scotia and getting into 40k.
Man, nick is the funniest person on the channel along with tycho, they're one of the channels that helped me get into the hobby, keep up the amazing work
But you don't splash your shoots when you play like nick right? ;)
@@Malod1997 nah splitfire isn't for me but it's hilarious when he does it
Every video like this where an excited and genuine teacher shows a new player the game helps bring more people to the hobby. Take heed, we all should teach people like Nick does. For the Greater Good of the hobby! Bonus points for getting more people like Stacey, she's a blast to watch and she must be back!
I hope she's gonna be on the show more, she seemed to really be having an awesome time
It was so fun!
I mean she's a media industry professional and we normally get paid to be on productions, though I'm unaware of the specifics of this arrangement. If you want her on the show more the best thing to do is prove to Play On Tabletop that there's a good financial case to have her on:
*Get your friends to watch/like/favourite this video
*Support the sponsors of this video
*Write in feedback to both Play On Tabletop and the sponsors how much you enjoyed this video and ended up supporting them financially
Really fun episode!
I don't know you managed to contain the energy from both players and keep the building standing.
And that chaos space marine with the plasma pistol deserves a daemonhood.
Spoilers:
I'm imagining him just cooly firing off his overcharged shots at the charging landspeeder before turning his back as it crashes to the ground behind him.
Who's to say the building IS still standing...?
@@TheStaceyRoy oh noes... is Tycho ok?!?
P.S. you might want to rethink playing Steve, ever since he's played/embraced Chaos I think he's only lost one game this year!
and it's double shot so I imagine he scored 2 direct hits at the pilots and killing them.
My extremely casual friends never want to play with more than 500 points anyway. Good size game.
One of the most fun matches to watch on the channel. She did great for a new player. Keep up the excellent content.
Stacey is great her enthusiasm is infectious. more Stacey please.
they both have so much energy… i love it
that last moment of the game with the plasma fire was genuinely one of the most exciting moments I have ever seen in a battle report! Sick video!
More of these with Nick teaching please. Amazing. Stacey is great and has a nice army.
"Do you remember your first battle of warhammer 40k?" That unlocked a deep memory for me. Thank you :)
Stacey's energy and enthusiasm for the game would be a great addition for the channel so I hope we get to see more of her 😁
Bringing in new People for introductory exibition battles would be legitimate. This was well made as it could have been. Knowing Nick could have easily won, its about good will to the ppl and having fun. Also, Steves commentary is couldn't get any better. It's Comedic and insightful
the world needs more Staceys.
I remember my first game like it was 2 weeks ago.
Because it was 2 weeks ago.
I'm already considering getting a couple of Combat Patrol boxes.😅
It'd be fantastic if everyone's 1st 40k experience was this fun.
Holy cow, this was a perfect storm of infectious energy. Nick was a terrific teacher, and Stacy was an absolute blast. Great job, folks!
Always awesome to see new players jump into the fray and join the fun! Nick did great teaching Stacey and, of course, his energy was infectious. Bravo gang! Here's to hoping we'll be seeing Stacey again some time
Stacy is a great addition to the team! Incredible energy and great rapport with nick. Hope she can make it back soon!
Thank you! Me too!
Great video. I've been bingewatching your battle reports for a few days now, and I have to say that for someone like me who has depressive tendencies, the energy of Nick and the whole team makes me feel so good. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Appreciate it. We’ve been enjoying working on this!
It’s nice to know that play on tabletop appreciates muben so much, they got a player that pronounces his second phase exactly like his name
And that comment just put a giant smile on MY face!
@@TheStaceyRoy Glad to see that :) I do hope you'll have some more matches, maybe even on their chanel, there is SO MUCH MORE fun units and stuff in general.
Fantastic win!
Stacy may have been running her Marines as Renegades, but they're in classic Word Bearers colors, so I'm calling this Vengeance for Monarchia!
For Lorgar and the True Gods!
Nick is such a fun dude to play with in any level of competitiveness! The energy is so infectious!
I dont know why, but watching enthusiastic new players makes me super excited about the game and brings me back to the time i started. More of her! And more new Players please! get celebrities and influencers involved.!
“Are you intimidated by this”
As she should be!
She’s wielding the power of CHAOS!
Epic finish! Death by Overwatch, Double 6's with an overcharged plasma! What!? I have never cheered at my computer so hard lol. Fun game y'all. Good job Stacey! and if you see this comment and still want to play Chaos Space Marines, I am sure you were/are thrilled about the update. Now they will be even tougher!
I hope we get to see Stacy's journey into the hobby!
Thanks, guys! Thanks from Shanghai! During these uneasy times, you really make me smile!
I’d love to see more of these beginner videos with smaller armies. It’s much easier for newer players to understand and absorb. Also love to see people’s first experience with the hobby!
Energy, enthusiasm, quick learning, Stacey is everything you want to see in a WH opponent. So much more fun when you can both get into it. Great game!
Awesome game! It appears that Tycho and Chaos Dave have a new apprentice to train in the ruinous powers!
Not even finished turn 1 and I already love her personality and her energy. Nick is a pretty good teacher just need Chaos marine Steve to take her under his wing. She seems to have already taken to the Chaos.
So I am a brand new person to the hobby and I have been watching your content while painting my plague marines....I can't wait to get into my first game with them... I hope it is as good as this
I hope your first game (and every one after) is awesome. Welcome to the hobby!
That was a fun watch! Props to Stacey for trying something new on a big stage.
I'm really liking all these patrol games! It keeps the action personal and easy to understand.
Stacey was a joy to watch, her energy and enthusiasm were incredible, can't wait to see more of her, plus Chaos is always a win for me.
Tau Nick is a great person to teach 40K. He has so much enthusiasm!
This is my favorite so far. I love the genuine excitement
This is great, I love seeing you guys being good teachers and making the game fun
Always love the energy. Sadly since my local store has more competitive players, the energy is never like this. Glad to see a new player! :D
You guys have competitive? We have literally just rp bullsh*t
Glad to see you upholding the tradition of the first match Nick ;) Good episode and i hope we can see more of her and more First games.
Loving the energy here! This was a joy to watch all around.
Her energy is very infectious in a good way. Once she relaxed into it she was enjoying this so much!
Please make more welcoming videos like that 🙂
There was so much excitement in this game, thoroughly enjoyed! DOUBLE SIXES!
No lie, that was incredible. Her excitement is so good, I really hope to see her play again and would love to see what she would do with an army of her own. The fact that she is beautiful and likes the game is just extra sauce on that sunday.
Yes Steve, YYEEESS! Super fun to watch, Nick is a great teacher and Stacey already walks the walk on her first game!
New chaos marines with 2 wounds (finally) and 3 attacks as standard is going to be interesting.
Nice to see you getting more people to the table. Please let Stacey return, she's hooked now!
I'm playing my first game in 3 weeks. 50 years old and still gaming
That was a wholesome game. Glad to see a birth of another 40k player
Such a great idea for a video and what an excellent matchup between two players with great energy and enthusiasm!
I've only just come across this particular channel and it's good to see how Stacey was loving it. It honestly looks interesting to me.
Having played my very first game of 40K last night with a friend, watching this is inspiring!! Great work guys!
My first ink was Chaos cross at 18. Now 42 and still proudly ware my cross.
Blood for the blood God, Skulls for the skull throne 💪🏻
Nick is such a lovable guy, You can see he must be a great dad and teacher :D
I am glad you taught Stacey early that re-rolling a 1 will turn it into a 1 90+% of the time
This was a lot of fun to watch and Stacey's excitement and enthusiasm was infectious!
Amazing! Stacey has tons of energy that is infectious. She seems to genuinely have fun and seems very fun to play against! Look forward to seeing her type of energy on more youtube videos!
when Stacey took off the jacket, this battle went from a 9 to a 12, i really love that explosive personality she has
Great game from a pair of great people! Stacy picked it up quick and Nick was a great teacher.
Hopefully we can see Stacy again and the play on crew teaching more players!
It was cool to see a new player's first game! Her enthusiasm and laughter are contagious, it was great seeing her so into it ^^
It was really cool to see you guys bring on a newbie! I've never played myself and this really makes me want too
