This also reminds me of the part where jesus healed the blind man that was blind from birth. And the Apostles asked Him, which sin caused the man to be born blind, was it his own sin or of his parents. Jesus answered neither, he was born this way to show the glory of the Heavenly Father. We must keep in mind that all of this existence and us are for the glory of God. Jesus knew that on that day, the woman was to approach him even before the day started. And he used the situation not only to glory God, but also as a teaching point to the people of those days and to future generations like us and to generations after us.
The way Jesus loved others is very unique & not the typical idea of emotional & sentimental Love ❤️ … So we must be careful when we often try to be overly more loving than Jesus & it’s not what true Love is biblically speaking.
Matt 15:24 Jesus is repeating the Jewish narrative in Isaiah that says the messiah's purpose is to come for the lost sheep of Israel who repents of their sins. What are their sins? Transgression against the Torah and God's laws and bringing them back to Torah observance. Isaiah 59:20 20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the Lord. The messiah, understood by the Jews, was to restore the guardians of the Torah from exile so that this royal priesthood will continue to preach the Torah and be beacon to all of mankind. Isaiah 49:6 New International Version (NIV) 6 he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” Not all of Israel will be saved, only those who live the Torah will find life that God intended.
Lord Almighty I pray for all followers of Christ being prosecuted give them the strength do not let fear take over but hold on to your faith.remember they hated Jesus too but through your faith you will have everlasting life.Amen and I cover you in the blood of Jesus Christ
Lea Christ only came for the So-called African Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans which are the Israelites the Bible speaks of. If you ain’t neither one The Most High ain’t dealing with you.
That is a great answer. Interestingly enough Paul also speaks that Salvation it was given to the Jews first and then to the Gentiles. It was almost as though Jesus didn't take notice of her but indeed he did ( just as in Job 23:6), only testing her faith. Not only did he come for the lost sheep of Israel but it seem that Israel is being joined together here ( all who believe are one in Christ). We know that even the command of God teaches that we should show mercy to all even the foreigners or those outside of your gates. Yet Hank you teach me something new. God bless.
Why are y'all coming with this title about my father having attitude with my sister ?? Please read Isaiah 55:8 kjv For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways ,saith the Lord. Matthew 15:26 But he answered and said it is not meet to take the children's bread and to cast it to dogs. Matthew 7:6 give not that which is holy unto the dogs neither cast ye your pearls before swine ,lest they trample them under their feet , and turn again rend you. Leviticus 20:26 kjv and ye shall be holy unto me for I the Lord am holy , and have served you from other people that ye should be mine John 17:10 kjv and all mine are thine, and thine are mine ;and I am glorified in them.
Once Jesus saw the woman's faith, He started to call her a " WOMAN" not a "dog" anymore. It takes faith to come to his presence. Anyways, thank you for sharing your view, Mr. Hank
Jesus said he came for the Lost Sheep of the house of Israel, Gibran. Then, who is a Jew? Please allow me to focus a bit: Jacob was 'father' of God's chosen Israelites (Deu 7:6-11). Prophesied Messianic progenitor 'Jewdah' (Gen 49:10; Isa 65:9), was 'father' of the Jews. Who are Jews, now, Gibran?
In the Gospel of St. Mark (7: 26), a Canaanite woman begged Jesus to cast a demon out of her daughter. Jesus anwered the Canaanite woman and said, "Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread and to cast it to the dogs (Mark 7: 27)." Jesus answered the woman the same way in Matthew 15: 26, after he said to the woman, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel (Matthew 15: 24 - NIV)." Jesus' point was that the Gospel was first to be given to the Jews. The children represent the Jews while the dogs are the Gentiles. Jews considered Gentiles to be unclean and called them kuon (A dog) primarily for religious rather than ethnic reasons. The exact word that Jesus used here, in Greek, was kunarion, meaning "Small dog" or "Pet dog," and this subtly deviates from the Jews sentiment who referred to the Gentiles as adult dogs. Pet dogs are naturally faithful to their masters. Jesus is addressed as "Lord," only once in Mark's Gospel, and this is when the woman responded to Jesus by saying, "Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs (Mark 7: 28). The woman's answer, according to Matthew 15: 27, is "Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." The woman calls Jesus - "Lord," and not the more familiar term, like "Rabbi;" three times she addresses Christ as "Lord, in Matthew's account (Matthew 15: 22,25,27). Mark seems to refer to the Children (Jews), while Matthew refers to the Master of the Children. "Masters'," in Matthew's wording, must be interpreted to mean God, and The Son of God, then in His Human form, was the Master of His Children, the Jews. Therefore, Christ, as Master of His children, came to His children to offer them the full portion of His meal of salvation. Since the Children had pet dogs (Gentiles), like any human family might have, the leftovers were fed to the Gentiles (Metaphor - "Dogs"). Jesus answered the woman again, and He said to the woman, "O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou will." "And her daughter was made whole from that very hour." This is one of the few times, and the only time in Mark's Gospel, that Jesus performs a miracle at a distance, that is he does not touch nor is he near the girl, but He only says it will be done and it is done, by his will alone.
While accepting that Jesus came to feed the "Children," the Canaanite woman asserts that the "Dogs (Gentiles)" need whatever Jesus has to offer, even if it is only in little quantities. Just as dogs eat crumbs from a table, Gentiles can also benefit from Jesus’ mission, although His priority at that point was the Jews. Although God chose the Jews as His people, Gentiles were always included in His plan (See Isaiah 49: 6/56: 6-7/Zechariah 2: 11/ Psalm 117: 1). Jesus illustrates this through the response of the Canaanite woman, who showed that "The least of Christ is precious to a believer, even the very crumbs of the Bread of life (Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible)." Matthew 15: 27 foreshadowed a time when Gentiles will not only pick up crumbs but also have a share in the meal of salvation. This was accomplished in Acts 10 and continues to happen today.

Sometimes Jesus is figurative, sometimes he is literal. Sometimes he uses illustrations, like when the rich young ruler comes and asked what he must do to inherit the kingdom of heaven. Have you kept all of the commandments? Of course not. It’s easier than a camel etc....

It is amazing how good people can be at explaining something they don't understand or want to believe. It is dispensations. Jesus wasn't playing a game or trying to be witty, he was speaking Truth.
Hi Rick, Jesus also said this: Matthew 28:18-20 New International Version (NIV) 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” If Salvation is only for Jews, then why did Jesus command his disciples to go out to all nations and share the Gospel so that ALL may be saved?
Using this woman in any way is unloving. Jesus doesn’t expose the prejudice...he employs it! SHE challenged Jesus and that challenge woke him up. His awakening results in a healing.

So, would you say that Jesus is being sarcastic in this passage?
sarcasm is usually making fun of something with absolutely no purpose involved. this would instead be illustrating what's wrong by demonstration
