    Trooper's Narrative:
On 9/18/23, at approximately 9:17 AM, TFC Tanner Hess initiated a pursuit with a white Toyota Camry (OH LPN: JKZ2103)
near the 77 mile marker on I-40 eastbound. I became the primary unit in the pursuit after the suspect vehicle passed by me
near the 84 mile marker. While behind the suspect vehicle, I observed the driver traveling at speeds in excess of 130 MPH and
passing vehicles on the shoulder. I had to slow for traffic near the 88 mile marker and TFC Hess became the primary unit in the
pursuit. TFC Hess had to leave the pursuit near the 98 mile marker due to damage to his tires. I became the primary unit in the
pursuit and Cpl. Paul Meeks was the secondary unit at this time. The suspect took the 101 exit and turned left (north) onto
Fishlake Road. The vehicle traveled approximately 1 mile north on Fishlake Road before slowing.
    Due to the suspect's manner
of driving, I believed he was a danger to the public and performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI), striking the rear driver's
side of the vehicle to end the pursuit. Cpl. Meeks and I performed a felony arrest on the suspect, Michael Hart, without incident.
I searched the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana. In the trunk, I located a bag containing approximately 8 ounces of
suspected marijuana. I lifted the flooring to access the spare tire and found a .22 rifle. TFC Hess arrived on scene and took
possession of the marijuana and the weapon. TFC Hess also took custody of Hart. Broadway Towing towed the vehicle.

@@dougt5357 Likely scenario, because the LEOs there sure thought they spiked the puke good, then never responded when ASP Tanner asked. I didn't even see a LEO unit where ASP Tanner hit the strips. Actually quite sensible due to those Camrys and Avalon having underbody panels the break loose for no reason and hang down low, or vibrate in the wind like a guitar string.
Had 2 Camrys and a Avalon I drove that were new company vehicles, all 3 did the same thing without me running over anything or dragging the bottoms of the cars anywhere. Could of snatched the spike rope out of the LEOs hand, him thinking the spikes went into the wheelwell.

They sometimes still do, but not because a cop asked them over the CB. If they're well aware of what's going on and see they can help by boxing them in or block them, some drivers still do try and help. Personally it never made sense to me, as much as cops harrass truckers you'd figure they'd say go to hell. But nowadays Cops couldn't ask anway unless they carried their own handheld CB or something. After 9/11 they did huge overhauls across the country for radio traffic dealing with first response. Before they set standards in, it was a litteral shit show with Joe Bob up the hollar being able to just breaker-breaker his way in to police or Fire/EMS if he wanted.
Can't just go to Walmart and pick up a cheap random scanner, it won't do a thing (if they even still carry them). Gotta have 'em specially programmed now. You can buy a dedicated scanner and have it programmed if you know the exact frequencies, but usually the only freqs you can easily find on the web is just basic dispatch and not the Tac channels or whatever else each and every firehouse and station throughout the county use. My dad used to have a scanner back in the 80s I'd constantly fall asleep listening to as a kid. Now the thing's a door-stop or a big paperweight.

What a shame. I mean to the Camry. I've noticed that a majority of the police chases, (except when under the influence of drugs/alcohol), are because of prior felonies, recent felonies, or felonies in progress at the time of the chase. Seriously, why run when, at most, it is just "Yes sir/No sir officer" and/or a MAX of $300-$500 in fines/tickets? It truly is a wonder that more people in the oncoming traffic are not killed or injured when these vehicles traveling 100+ mph cross into their lanes and/or eventually spin out. However, I also understand that it is not just about this crime, but about the next one if they get away... THANK YOU OFFICERS!

7:57 Need to get that unit in the shop to get the rotors turned. That loud vibration when he is hard on the brakes is because the brake rotors are warped …overheating from all the high-speed chases. Aside from being incredibly annoying, it dramatically reduces braking performance.

@@MadFox-jr6by Who told you police vehicles have standard "passenger car brakes?" Because it's wrong. They have the upgraded, heavy duty brake and suspension systems. And no, they don't warp right away; it takes time. They will obviously warp with the heavy use, it just means they need to be serviced more often.

    • @MadFox-jr6by
      @MadFox-jr6by 9 місяців тому

HD brakes are still passenger car/truck brakes. They are not racing brakes designed to run at track heat levels. Warped rotors is also a myth. I've seen this disproven many times. Look into it. Rotors get glazed and brake pad material can deposit unevenly causing the brake shutter when the rotors get hot. This condition has always been referred to as "warped" by mechanics but it's a misnomer. @@user-mp9rd4hg8b

I'm surprised he was running Code 3 doin a buck 30. Once you get up above 80 and especially once you're in triple digits, a siren is next to worthless due to a few factors. There's the doppler effect with the faster you go, the less the siren projects in front of you; then the added panic as clueless drivers that never check mirrors and are barely aware of what's in front of them suddenly panic as they don't hear a siren (and again never check their mirrors to see the lights a mile away) until you're nearly on top of them. Not only that, but there's hard data that shows sirens cause more accidents, and trying to communicate is harder. But above all else, you have to listen to that damn thing all the way from point A to B, and if you think it's annoying to hear for a few seconds, listen to it for half an hour straight. It's all first day EVOC stuff.
