Returning to Nibelheim another one of my favorite parts of the OG! Basically anytime Nibelheim is mentioned i'm ultra invested. THE ZACK STUFF IS SO GOOD.
Also Vincent, but that's the next part :D

1:06:14 thank you for being one of the few people to neatly sum up the reasons why Tifa doesn't tell Cloud the truth. I'm so glad the trilogy is adding new layers to debunk the bs "Tifa could have just TOLD him and everything would have been fine" argument.
Spoilers
1. She didn't know Cloud was there because CLOUD was too embarrassed to show his face bc he didn't make soldier
2. The cutscene with aerith at the start of the game suggests they've been talking about how to handle the situation delicately
3. Cloud is clearly mentally unstable bc he often has psychotic breaks when reminded of his past, and shut down when Tifa tried to ask him where he had been for 5 years.
4. Cloud just tried to kill Tifa while under Sephiroth's control, which is even more reason why she may be hesitant to tell him
5. She's happy Cloud is remembering things (even if the details are inaccurate) and is likely hoping with time, he'll come to remember the full truth one piece at a time.
6. Even if Tifa DID tell him the whole truth, Sephiroth has been manipulating Cloud to doubt Tifa because he knows Tifa's the only one who can save him. So Cloud likely wouldn't have believed her anyway.
Sorry for the rant, but like you said, everyone wants to think they're a psychology expert when they've never been in Tifa's (or Cloud's) situation. It reminds me of how some people who've never been abused condescend to abuse victims about what they SHOULD do and how easy it is to leave.
Couldn't agree more. But one thing, does that mean Aerith knew the truth about Zack's death from the beginning?
@@leesheoun7945 no Areith doesn’t know for sure if he’s dead, she just has a feeling that he is.. Tifa doesn’t know what happened to Zack during the nibelhiem incident, just that he was there and Cloud wasn’t *according to her*
Like it's such a delicate situation that there isn't a "correct" way to handle it. Tifa is just handling it the best way SHE thinks she can ;_;
@@leesheoun7945 I feel like Aerith doesn't know what happened to Zack. Aerith somehow knew when Elmyra's husband died.
Which means, in Aerith's mind, if Zack died then either she should know already. Or he didn't come find her, implying what she thought in Gongaga - she isn't "important" to Zack.
The way Tifa is handling Cloud's memory issues is very good. It doesn't just serve the plot, she's catching the social cues that Cloud needs time and for certain things to jog his memory. It's like seeing alzheimer's in someone in their 20s, it's upsetting and sensitive and telling them the truth won't necessarily help or even work.
She also understands that Cloud's messed up memories have some small seed of doubt in his mind about her, and telling him his memories are wrong may have the exact opposite effect and feed into his fears if it's not at the right time.
I've always thought of Tifa and Cloud's journey as one in the same even in the original. More than just a love interest. Its hard for people to see sometimes, but from Tifa's point of view, watching Cloud isnt much different than someone in real life go through Alzheimer's or dementia. Having not only the person you love but also the last person connected so strongly to your past slip in and out of it would be absolutely tragic. She has it the worst out of everyone imo. If there was a deuteragonist/Second main character, it has to be her. Then you couple that with how often shes involved in mini-games, solutions, or plot points - hell even how often she appears in other IPs like Dissidia, she's equally as important to Cloud's story as he is to himself. Rebirth has really honed in on showing you shes more than just something to be shipped.
Indeed. I love how they're adding depth to her character since she's so crucial to the heart of the story.
Lmao stop it. She does not have it the worst out of everyone and she isnt the second main character either. Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth is the holy trinity. The ending of the game especially hammers it home
I think it’s not the most accurate to call her the second main character - between Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and Seph, they all have their important role to play in relation to Cloud himself.
@@DannyPotatoNo it isnt. She isnt plot relevant. Cloud, Aerith Sephiroth. Thats the order
@@ErenDenizMert and now I know u are delusional.
Shinra used every bit of reference materials they could find to recreate Nibelheim
Regarding telling Tifa not telling the truth to Cloud, I do actually have work experience regarding confronting people's realities. Only a trained professional should really attempt to disrupt a person's reality because there is a good chance one of two things happening: Either they deny it completely and no longer trust that person, or they break. You have to be really careful with stuff like this. So while Tifa maybe could have chosen her words better to neither confirm nor deny the reality, she did what she could with the information and skill that she had.
Out of curiosity is there not an ariel combat feature like Remake had? Ive noticed flying enemies always gave her the hardest time cuz most members arent ranged besides Yuffie and Barret.
more than remake i just don't utilize it much
Hojo and his test subjects
Emerald weapons and Ruby weapon easter eggs @ 28:28.... can't believe you didn't notice
YRP?! It's a Final Fantasy X2 reference?!
Cid is missing his cigarette and his pissed off demeanor
(? )
Maybe saving it up for part 3 as a twist
I think we’re gonna go past the cigarette days of the 90s, for better or worse.
His pissed of demeanour though WHERE?
@@DannyPotato I think that's a relic of the 90's as well. Japanese media has been starting to shy away from some of the more outright misogynistic gruff characters in recent years, and so far we haven't seen Sheera at all. So mayhaps they are waiting to reveal more about Cid in part 3...OR...the changes resulted in something different happening, perhaps with Sheera not existing, OR dying...or it wasn't her fault in the first place. We don't know. But so far he seems to have his Advent personality rather than the OG. Of course, we'll see in part 3. Certain changes may result in his temper coming to the forefront in the final chapter...
I'm pretty sure he's in "work mode" for this part. The party are just his customers atm and he loves flying more than anything. Once we go to Rocket Town and catch him off duty I'm sure he'll be more curmudgeony.
Do nibleheim protorelic quests
