Although it's 8 years after your review and compact cameras have continued to improve, the HX50 which I bought in 2018 when I wanted to make some more serious videos of my backpacking adventures I've found it be among the best for a compact camera. I recently bought a Panasonic DC-TZ90 thinking it would at least be a small improvement, and although I liked the touch screen and time lapse function which the HX50 does not have, for video and still quality the HX50 is noticeably better. I was really disappointed with the Panasonic, in comparison reviews it was the only one in the price point range that came out as significantly better than the HX50, but I've just not found that to be the case. I tried every setting to improve the video and still quality on the Panasonic and the HX50 was just better every time. For great optical zoom, good quality photo's and video in a small compact I just don't think there is anything of the quality of the HX50 in that price range. Even though I've recently purchased my first mirrorless camera, the one camera I will be keeping is the HX50.
I want to help to my friend so I checked youtube if HX50 has F menu button... Funny, first two videos which I checked (yours was first one) doesn't show the entire back side of the camera at all.. somehow you managed to hide the right bottom corner through the entire video... same as the other video which I checked... Funny! :O
A comprehensive and helpful review.. I bought the camera after watching this and am not disappointed at all. Thanks very much...
+murphitz You are very welcome!
