I'm no expert, but I have read in other comment sections that this performance was made up of numerous sections of other songs strung together. They call it "eruption" only because it's embedded in the performance. See for yourself, listen to the stand alone piece off the first album titled "eruption" and then watch this again, then you can tell when he slides into and out of it. There are a few sections that are just him showing off what weird sounds a guitar can make if you play it NOT they way it was intended. If you watch closely in the beginning when he is on stage with sammy, the back of the Strat is OPEN. This is for later when he holds the guitar flat and plucks the "whammy" bar springs to make all 6 strings vibrate at once and then plays with the neck to make it sound "spacey". To really appreciate his skill, you have to watch what he is doing with his huge hands. Like when he makes it sound like a Cello. Those notes are called "swells", where he is actually dropping the volume to kill the "attack" sound of him plucking the string, then quickly ramping the volume back up for the rest of the note. If you watch it again, you can see his right hand modulating the volume and his left hand is doing the plucking. As good as this is, on a technical level, I still prefer Gilmour's second solo on Comfortably Numb. That one literally make tears roll down my face.
Thank you for all of this! I will most definitely look more into his performances and see what little things I can pick up based off your comment! Also your comment about Mr Gilmours solo is so true. It’s so unbelievable good. Thank you for the comment and your time! I hope to see you in here again soon!🤘🔥
This show features solos from each of the band members, and all 3 are phenomenal. Alex's drum solo is great, and basist Michael Anthony goes nuts. Another great guitar performance is the Rock and Roll Hall of fame performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Mind blowing A wonderful drum performance is Moby Dick at Albert Hall by John Bonham of Led Zeppelin As this is probably the greatest guitar solo of all time, the greatest drum solo of all time, in my opinion, is Neil Peart live in Frankfurt. Just as legendary and mind blowing As Eddie's solo here
Cool reaction. Try the song, "5150" from the same concert or "Running With the Devil" off of their first album "Van Halen I" if you'd like to hear how most of us heard it for the first time. It was a WTF moment on the radio back in 1978.
I most certainly will! Thanks for the suggestions and good words! I hope you enjoyed the video and I’d love to see you in the comments again in the future 🤘🔥
Brother, you'd have more likes but you're late for the show. This was recorded back in '86. And people have been reacting for years. I'm in though. Nothing but everlasting love for Eddie Van Halen! R.I.P.
Hi, I saw them twice in Philly they were amazing! Eddie was a Maestro, He loved Classical music. Thank you❤
Thank you for your story and you’re so lucky to have seen him live!! I appreciate you watching and enjoying the content 😊
He built that guitar & called it "Frankenstein "😅
It was called Franken-strat - and he never named it that way - others have named it that.

That’s always been my favorite part! I always wondered how he did that!!!

There might be one guitarist who can come close. His name is Wolfgang...Van Halen. Eddie's son.
Please watch Stevie Ray Vaughan “Texas Flood”. The live at El Mocambo version. It’s blow your mind. ✌🏻💕
Now! Check Rush live concerts out. 😮😮😮😮😮😊😊
Eddie gave a guitar to Dimebag Darrell's family to be buried with him.😮😮😢😢😊
Dimebad was the guitarist shot in Columbus Ohio. On stage. Read about it. 😢😢😢
