    My brother was in Washington, DC that weekend too but he flew on United into Dulles! He was delayed 2hrs on the ORD-IAD route on January 13th and delayed 3hrs on the IAD-ORD route on January 15th. Good trip report by the way, man!

    9:08 That turbulence is giving me flashbacks to when I flew from Lahore to Dubai on Emirates Boeing 777-300ER back in February 2017. The flight was subject to severe turbulence over Balochistan.

    Great trip report as usual! Slight correction however, BWI is considered the busiest of the three DC airports, with 27.1 million served each year.

      Thank you! What year is that data from? I saw that as of 2022, DCA bad served 23 million passengers while BWI was just behind at 22 million.

    I was shocked to see you not only flew over Plymouth, Indiana, but that you included it in the video. It was fun finding landmarks, and eventually the place I grew up, and where my dad still lives today. Thanks!

    Enjoy your reports. DCA is such a unique place. The American gates are luxurious compared to the Southwest area down in Terminal 1. There are 9 gates and3 airlines all in 1 room, with only 1 set of bathrooms and very few amenities. It's a mess!

    That's cold! Also having second thoughts about trying to reach Sapphire again; Ruby status has been working for me just fine except w/o domestic lounge status. I know Admiral's Clubs are mediocre but is having access to Flagships at ORD and DFW worth going through the hurdles of getting Sapphire? Hmmm....

    3:11 you got an A319-114 A319-111 former US Airways version the better version it's actually the A319-115s due to them having Winglets. If they want the same that currently fly on A319-114s A319-111s might as well order A319-153Ns to finish off the old A319-114s A319-131s and A319-111s. Leaving the newer A319-115Wls to stay eventually finished off by Max 7s. I wonder how would United Airlines get rid of their older B737-724s A319-131s? Same possible path as AA A319-153Ns commonality with the max Fleet Leap-X or A319-171Ns PW1100Gs like the A321-271Ns

    • @Blank00
      @Blank00 7 місяців тому +1

      I’d say the MAX7 is the better choice for UA. The A319NEO is not as efficient as the MAX7 and it is not cheaper than an A321NEO

    • @EpicThe112
      @EpicThe112 7 місяців тому

      @Blank00 I get it now but what about the A319-131 pilots that UA has what would they fly once their A319-131s are gone? The only ones who can simply upgrade training are the B737-724 pilots since the Max 7 might have the same cockpit as B737-724s

    • @Blank00
      @Blank00 7 місяців тому +1

      @@EpicThe112 United will order more A321NEOs, more XLRs, or start ordering LRs to address that

  • @Blank00

    AA better replace these older A319s with the MAX7. I know it’s not looking good for the MAX7, but because AA strong-armed Boeing into re-engining the 737 instead of making a clean-sheet, AA needs to live with that fact and act accordingly by ordering more MAXes

    • @DokiMin
      @DokiMin 7 місяців тому

      I think the a220-300 might be better choice

    • @Blank00
      @Blank00 7 місяців тому

      @@DokiMin For Delta yes, but not for AA. Even if the A220 is better, AA needs to live with how they influenced Boeing. I’m not blaming AA for the issues with the MAX so I don’t think AA should pay any fines for that, but the reason why Boeing re-engined the MAX instead of making a clean sheet is because that’s what AA and Southwest requested.

    • @EpicThe112
      @EpicThe112 7 місяців тому

      You are correct by the way in 2011 when I read this on the newspaper AA used to call B737 Max as B737 Re. I wonder what would the seat map for the max 7 look like in American Airlines because if they just went A319neo it's like their A319-115s 128 seats premium economy is 10-13. Seat back TV screens installed

    • @kentfrederick8929
      @kentfrederick8929 7 місяців тому

      Actually, Boeing was working on a clean-sheet replacement for the 737NG line that might have also replaced the 757-200.
      Both American and Southwest were very interested. But problems with the 787 and 747-8 caused Boeing to work on getting those programs on track.
      Tired of waiting, American finally ordered additional 737-800s. That was early 2008.
      It wasn't American who pressured Boeing into proposing the MAX line. It was Airbus' unexpected success with the proposed A320neo that caused Boeing to scramble. Boeing could not improve the NG, such that it matched the performance improvement between the A320ceo and the A321neo.
      It just happened that AA was looking to start the phase-out of the MD-80 and 757 fleets, while Boeing was ready to pitch the MAX.
      Ironically, Southwest became the MAX launch customer, because AA went into Chapter 11 and could not confirm the order.
      I will agree that the 737-7 would make a good replacement for older A319s. Airbus is pricing the A319, A320, and A321 at similar prices, because size has little effect on production time.
      Boeing increases the MAX price with the size of the plane.
      While the A220 could work (Delta is happy with their A220s), that introduces a new aircraft type.
