I haven't flown Allegiant Air in almost eight years so when I found an easy roundtrip ticket from Peoria, I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Allegiant has changed a lot since I flew them in 2016, going from an airline associated with being "unsafe" to one of America's prime leisure carriers.
This was my first time flying out of Peoria International Airport as well and I was very pleased with the passenger experience. Overall, this video was meant to showcase my no-frills experience on Allegiant flying one of their relatively new routes from Peoria to Denver and back.
*I misspoke in the video about Allegiant's personal item allowance. As shown, it is in fact 8x14x18 inches and NOT 8x14x8 like I mistakenly said.

Moral of the story: If you're flying Allegiant, make sure your travel dates are 100% set, otherwise you'll fall into what I had to deal with $$$$
leg room tho
Flown Allegiant several times, no issues whatsoever.
Have flown Allegiant numerous times to Vegas and have yet to have an issue. It gets me where I want to go and back. Some people expect way too much.
I’m flying out of Michigan to Vegas at the beginning of next month and I’ve never flown allegiant before. I’m glad to hear that you haven’t had any problems flying there. I’ve been really nervous as I don’t like flying as it is and I’ve only heard mostly bad things about allegiant.
I've had only good experiences on Allegiant. Have flown FL to AVL many times and never had an issue, sans a short delay due to weather for our inbound aircraft. I will say this, though: unless you're scraping pennies to get somewhere, pay for the upgrades! Priority boarding helps with check in, checked bags (if u have luggage) is a must. A lot of the hold ups boarding and de-planing is from travelers who wanna bring half their house on board as carry ons! Get TSA prescreen. We even flew during the holidays and NP. Since I have kids with me, we have to all sit in same row, and I try to book far enough ahead to get up front seats. The planes are great (love the 320s) and flight crews have always been kind. Remember, they don't get paid until the door closes, and are there to ensure safe evac in emergencies. That's it! Allegiant is a great low cost airline and we've enjoyed good service this far!
I’m flying from Tampa to Asheville over the summer. Looking forward to it. I was going to pass on the upgrades but I may take that route. My main concern is if they are in time and reliable.
@@jcdulos1 So, one flight was delayed by about 45 min because the inbound aircraft was delayed leaving Cincinnati due to weather. Another was delayed about 20 min because they were waiting on a flight crew member who was running late. And one flight was delayed 10 min because the captain ran down to tell the fuel guy to put another 1000 lbs on board after he had already finished. All in all, mostly on time and reliable.
I have been presently surprised with Allegiant on 2 round trips from Mesa, AZ to Springfield, MO. In fact, on one of my trips both of my bags were 51 lbs and I offered to move some from one to the other, then expected to pay for extra weight. The agent told me to not worry about it! On another flight my wife did not get a secure dog crate/carrier for our small dog being in the cabin. My wife had to leave the airport, take the parking shuttle to get the car, go to the store and return. Before she got back to the airport the agent I was talking to told me: "When she gets back--DO NOT stand in line--you bring her right here to me." I find them pretty helpful and kind, at least on the times I flew with them.
I’ve only flown on them for one trip, but I enjoyed my experience and wouldn’t hesitate to fly them again. I love that they fly out of a small reliever airport near my home, saving me from having to drive to the large airport further away. So convenient and pleasant people. Sure it is a low budget airline, but the convenience factor makes it worthwhile for me personally.
I always look forward to your uploads. Great video, per usual!
Your trip reports are great!!! Enjoyed this very much and looking forward to a trip from Decatur!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Very informative! great video
Thanks very much man!
You got the best trip reports.
This is the first video I've watched on your channel, and it looked fine. Interesting to see a regional Illinois airport.
The family and I flew Allegiant for the first time over the holidays. I fully acknowledge that it certainly has its target demo, but we’re not it. It didn’t help the flight attendants were pretty condescending when explaining all their policies. I mean, especially for first timers like us it was nice to know what to fully expect, but you didn’t have to talk to the passengers like a bunch of 4th graders in detention.
That's unfortunate. The FA's I had were pretty helpful. It seems every airline has their fair share of rude crew.
Grew up in Chicago suburbs. Didn’t know Peoria had such a busy airport. Good video
I knew it was busy but not at that level! Thanks so much.
A Great Trip Report as always. I don’t know why, but the mention of Peoria’s IATA Code (PIA) made me laugh as I thought about our national flag carrier, you guessed it, PIA 😂😂😂😂
Never denigrate your work. It is unbecoming. Take pride in what you do. It was a fine video. The information alone was worth watching. I just subscribed and rang the bell to alert for future videos.
Appreciate the kind words! I hope you’ll continue to enjoy the content moving forward!
I fly this airline a lot to and from northern Ohio from Orlando/Sanford. We’ve been through maintenance woes with both the MD-80s and modern Airbus. Last Xmas when I flew up north, our flight to Ohio from Sanford was delayed a couple of hours due to a serious maintenance issue that led to fire trucks getting involved. Luckily another plane was available and it was worked out.
Peoria is my home airport. I flew Allegiant from Peoria to Fort Lauderdale last year. It was a great flight, though we had to divert due to weather issues in Fort Lauderdale which is completely out of Allegiant’s control. It was the day the airport closed do to rain.
Evansville Indiana to Sanford Orlando about 4 times a year for several years and no issues. I bring my own snacks
I flew their a319 from San Diego to Las Vegas last summer. The cabin was actually pretty clean, but the prices of the items were expensive as expected
Allegiant served Champaign back in 2007, operating to LAS. I was in the terminal the day of their first flight, still remember seeing their crew walking through. Service lasted about four months before they pulled the plug.
Wow! I can't find any photos or actual coverage of that service sadly. I was a little kid at the time so I don't remember that at all, only Delta when they left in 2006.
I have to fly regularly from Las Vegas to Wichita, KS. Allegiant takes me there directly. A quick flight and free bags because I'm a veteran. A no brainer.
The PIA Terminal reminds me of TYS where I was an ASA for COEX! I've heard that Crews return to their Domiciles at the conclusion of their day and thereby save Allegiant on Hotel fees! Good Cost saving measure! Plus you can bid your BNA originating Trips knowing you'll be back in your Domicile to fight traffic 🚦 on Briley Parkway!
I remember my first flight with allegiant and my first flight as a 29 year old who has never been on an airplane . It was on a Airbus 319 from Monterey Ca to Las Vegas Nv.. its an experience i will never forget on a smaller plane
Go to your local flight school and ask for a "discovery flight." It is a free lesson in a Cessna. THAT, you will never forget.
Runway 35R in Denver coming from the north is always like that!!!
Generally zone boarding puts a few passengers in each area of the airplane at the same time, so they can get settled. Often they will “zone” window passengers first, then middle seats and finally aisle seats, so folks don’t have to climb over each other. If people are traveling together, then you may see window and middle in the same zone… the purpose is to get folks on the plane and out of the isle quickly so others can board.
Nice, good. Excellent
I appreciate the video. From where I live I have to drive 2 hours to fly allegiant and you have 12 airports to choose from. From where I live it's the cheapest way to go down to Florida. Most low budget carriers though I would have to drive 3 hours to use them.
I've flown Allegiant a lot, but no longer. The biggest issue is when they cancel your flight you will be stranded for days because they typically only have one flight a day and the next flight could be 3-4 days later. The customer service is horrible and they will not do anything for you in this situation.
Thank you for the informaiton. My wife wants to fly this airline because we are in Rockford... a 30 min drive, but I am about safety, of course.
Flew Allegiant Cincinnati to Savanah several times never had an issue, exactly as advertised.
I really wanna fly allegiant some day. I live in a very small town where we only get regional airlines and allegiant. Allegiant is one of my favorite airlines to fly in the sim.
Serving small towns is what Allegiant does really well. Hope you get to fly them soon!
I flew on Allegiant only twice, both times had issues. First time was take off was delayed by 3 hours which messed up my car rental pickup time and they cancelled my reservation. Second time was more trouble. Due to a storm in Florida my flight was delayed while we were on the plane. We sat there confined for 3 hours before they canceled the flight totally. Since Allegiant only flies out of my airport twice a week I had to stay there for an two extra days and pay for the hotel and car rental. Costing me another $ 300 + meals. Allegiant paid none of the cost. At least with the other budget airlines you could probably rebook the same day or next. Customer service in my case was very bad with no apologies since it was weather related.
used to travel on OZ DC-9s with meals and CO 727-200s between Pia and DEN
What a time that must have been.
I love Allegiant and the small airports they fly in and out of..I fly them regular out of Sanford Florida, now they also fly out of MCO,which is a very busy and large airport, must be because of The Theme Parks...I did have a few delays, one hour being the most..
For the zones question if you're in the back you'll have a higher zone so that boarding can go by faster. If it went more towards the front, the higher the zone then everyone would be stopping to put their bags in the overhead holding up the line for everyone behind them while only 1 person is putting a bag up. If they go in order from back to front now group 3 will walk all the way to the rear and get their bags set, and group 6 can be putting their bags up at the same time making it faster. although not perfect.
This is the best airport in this area in my opinion. No traffic, free parking, short TSA waits. Couldn’t be any better.
I've flown Allegiant at least 8 times. I've never had a bad flight. New planes. Cheap. On time. 👌
I think Spirit and Frontier have slightly newer planes.. Allegiant has a smaller fleet
Exactly!
the new seats on the newly acquired aircraft are MUCH better than the ones say for example on N271NV, with the old cabin, The new seats actually have a tray table, it may still be on the small side but Much better then the first version of the A320 cabin. All in all allegiant isn't that bad, If you wanna get from point A to B without breaking the bank and getting there in half the time it takes other carriers. It ain't all that bad. The airline is changing and I think you might be surprised on what they are as an airline in the near future. great video and Keep up the great work.
their old seats didn't have tray tables!? and how would allegiant get u there in half the time versus other carriers...? same planes etc.
@@KuostA it's called direct flights, unlike other American Carriers, some of them you need to have a connection or layover.
We flew there before on Allegiant a few years ago. Bruh, that airport is tiny though
Great video! At some point in the video you mentioned that United used to serve the same route but was discontinued, do you know why?
Thanks so much! Not sure why it was discontinued, it probably had something to do with pilot shortages or the like. There has always been demand for PIA-DEN service so I doubt the route was cut due to low passenger numbers.
@@ASAviation yea, that’s probably what it was. Probably similar to delta dropping service from PIA entirely, due to the pandemic.
I fly Allegiant all the time from St.Pete/Clearwarter(PIE) to Nashville(BNA) and Columbus(LCK). The price is right and my only issue is a charge for a carry on piece of luggage is $35 one way. 2 years ago it was $18 one way. Also, the price for snacks on board has risen appx 30-40% in 2 years. $3.99 for a can of soda is a joke.
I flew out of Peoria on Saturday march 9th I didn’t realize u fly out of there
It was my first time flying from there. It's only about 1h 30min from me so I'll definitely consider it for future travel.
@@ASAviation nice. Its a nice easy airport to get around too
Allegiant sells 375ml bottles of Daou Cabernet Sauvignon wine for $19.99...it's my favorite red wine and consume at least 2 bottles a week..makes my flight even more enjoyable..
Really hoping the new 737 Max’s their getting are a bit better.
I usually travel with one backpack. I really enjoy the cheap price from allegiant lol
The biggest plus is that they have done away with reclining seats. The biggest minus is the nickel and diming.
If it wasnt for Allegiant PIA would not have good air service
We fly Allegiant about 90% of the time. I am a military veteran so I get 2 free checked bags up to 100 lbs each plus a carry on bag and the personal bag. So over all it a great deal for us and we even have their credit card so we get any free drink that they have. Allegiant is going to start flying to Mexico soon, but I don’t know when. They were supposed to start like a year ago, but haven’t yet. Maybe that why they put the international terminal in PIA. Go Ill-ini.
That's a fantastic deal, given how convenient G4 is with their destinations flying them would be a no-brainer. I haven't heard any developments on Allegiant flying to Mexico but surely PIA would be on the list for a flight there. Let's see what happens. ILL-
@@ASAviation I believe Allegiant is getting like 30 737’s. They said they had them ordered, but I don’t know after the problems with them.
@@theodorelease8477 yup they’re going to be introducing the 737 MAX later this year! Or that’s the plan for now.
Good content great work on presentation. Take me somewhere on a dime. Let's say anywhere how about Key West Florida? It's a $$ chalkboard show some ways to get there round-trip. I got all the time to do it
Bruh, 11D was my seat on return haha!
im sure its cheaper for UA in CO vs IL due to the tax issue
They suck. By the time you add up all fees when ticketing they're as much if not more than mainline carriers- They cancel constantly, many times at departure. You most likely can't rebook for another flight for several days so if you need to be somewhere you end up schlepping down to AA/DL/UA and coughing up a walk up fare. All airlines have issues but the majors can AT LEAST get you there the same day (usually). I'm speaking for personal experience. 2 out of 3 trips with them were cancelled Fort Lauderdale to Asheville. Never again.
Flown Allegiant at least 2 dozen times and I have two complaints. One of the best direct budget airlines going. Alot better than ghetto air Spirit or Frontier.
Interesting to see Allegiant still rocking those tiny tables; my Frontier video of their new A321neo had slightly larger ones now. I've got a busy filming year ahead for this new spinoff channel as well, with a few O'Hare long hauls in the queue.
Yup, I flew two Frontier NEOs last year and they had the larger tables. Glad LCCs are ditching the tiny ones.
Allegiant will be replacing the tiny tray tables with (still tiny but) slightly larger tables. They will come new on their 737s and all a320s will be retrofitted.
FYI, if you are a veteran, your checked bag and your carry on are free. If you are flying with a small dog, that is free. And if you have an Allegiant credit card, you have priority boarding, and you first drink, even alcohol, is free.
Cool vid dude.❤💪✈️
Whi is the best Greyhound of the skies?
Was not expecting this guy to be THAT hot when the camera turned around but wow 😳
Appreciate it
We fly Allegiant because it's 10X better than the other Greyhounds of the sky (Frontier / Spirit). We can fly direct, cheaply (as long as you don't get carried away with "add ons") and we normally see many friends in our community since they fly from/to smaller regional airports. I skip them on "real vacations" and stick to Delta exclusively because of larger planes and Delta Sky Clubs (Laguardia / Atlanta) that we enjoy.
what makes them better than frontier and spirit?
@@KuostA ...geeez, I don't know. Personal safety for one. The others area like entering a MMA arena.
what's with the unncessary sarcasm and shity attidue? bad day? it was a legitimate question that I asked respectfully. they are all 3 ULCC in the USA, with similar experiences and business ideologies vs the other mainline part 121 carriers. I was just curious why you specifically preferred them over their peer rivals. smfh way to spread negative vibes unnecessarily. @@3sons66
Very smooth flying airplane but the seats are horrific😂😂
Allegiant thrives on utilizing airports that other airlines don't fly out of.
Allegiant is a low cost carrier so dont expect any frills, allegiant Does Not Run Every Day if you look at allegiant they have planes sit on off days...most other airlines are on the go...there is UA-cam video on american airlines how many trips do they make and how many cities does this plane go to
try Breeze out of SPI free parking there also
Hoping to fly that route very soon to check SPI off the list!
Last I checked you can go to Orlando or Chicago only from SPI. American pulled their Dallas flight.
@@Dr_Reason that’s right. Breeze flies to Orlando and Tampa as well. Just Chicago on American Eagle.
you can also go to Tampa and punta gorda AA service sucks
@@Dr_Reason
UA possibly moving from Chicago to Denver…seriously…?
I only fly jet blue or American airways.
They’re better than Frontier and Spirit. Can’t beat the price if you’re NOT connecting.
If you book cheap flights with any airline it costs $$$ to change your flight; Amtrak is the same btw. From what I saw nice plane, maybe could have vacuumed between turn around flights but maybe no time. Your flight was what I callk uneventful which is good and would have been dirt cheap had you not had to change dates. Give them a 9 out of 10.
Airbus planes ? Definitely a plus
2:25 - Dallas FTW.
I guess FTW somewhat refers to Fort Worth 😂
@@ASAviation Nah they are clearly Cowboys fans!
Forgive my confusion, but, free parking and you’re surprised it’s full?
Surprised it's full because I didn't think Peoria would be so busy, not because it's free.
@@ASAviation ahh gotcha!
there never any mistake about flying allegiant, because they operate the fleet of Airbus.
Looks like a sunrise apple juice plane
I did not know Allegiant had a 757
It was rather short-lived, from around 2011-2019/20 or so they had the 757.
They were used on the Hawaii to Mainland route but after they kill the Hawaiian route, they got rid of them.
Step 1: Don’t fly Allegiant. The End.
Never have and likely never will…
Lol 😂
Don't fly Frontier or Spirit either !!! 😕
bro I’ve flown allegiant like 3 times it ain’t bad, but in 2 days I am trying delta for the first time!
@@CookieishSimon eh they are hit and miss service wise I flew delta yo Wisconsin in09 they had me cramped up in a boeing 717 the seats were very cramped no leg room that made me look forward to Southworst airlines boeing 737s lol but I driving hell I would fly a piper cub over that b717
I dislike this airliner due to the fact the pilots fly dangerously low to the ground each time they come in for a landing at flint bishop airport they fly so low over my neighborhood they shake my house and windows when i say low i mean at least close to tree top level they make me so upset when they do it cause the planes are so dang loud
They have a very toxic safety culture that emanates from the top. They fired a pilot for properly evacuating passengers and ensuring their safety from an aircraft when smoke was discovered. I would not step foot on any of their aircraft. The pilots are doing the best they can with horrible management that puts profits over safety and it's not their fault.
They are buying 737s
What a bad seat to get for a video.
Allegiants fault it was yours
I didn’t say it was Allegiant’s fault.
Did you even watch the video? how is it his fault?
he changed days@@FrequencyORD
@@davidharris2519but when did I say that was Allegiant’s fault?
👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻,,seat like Spirit airlines
Spirit changed their seats and are retrofitting their new seats on every plane. So did Frontier. Allegiant is the only ultra low cost airline that hasn’t changed their seats in the US.
Very interesting. Older A320s are based in Allentown where the older seats, the older seats are much nicer. Some newer Allegiant planes have the same seats but in branding or different seats with large tray tables. It’s very random
genuine question: why would u not choose your seats in advance online to have a window seat when you're a super avgeek like us, esp when it's so cheap to do so, and esp since u did this flight PURELY for avgeek content..........? you're lucky you got an isle, but why even risk getting the MIDDLE seat which would be horrible for your comfort and content? Also, u didn't feel awkward pointing your camera and zooming in carefully across 2 people out the window? that didn't make u self conscious>? I genuinely ask since it would DEFINITELY make me super self conscious to do so, and I wouldn't be able to do it.
I was honestly just trying to keep my costs as minimal as possible, even if that meant not paying the $30-40 extra to reserve seats.
Ghetto airlines
Unsafe
tell me u know NOTHING about aviation without telling me u know NOTHING about aviation.
this will be Trumps choice shortly...LOL>
Those United moving Headquarters out of Chicago weren't true. Shortly after they came out, United put out a press release saying they have no plans to move their headquarters. Now that obviously doesn't 100% rule out they will do it eventually, but from my understanding, they are using a lot of that land they bought for a crew training facility.
Good to know. It would make sense if they moved at some point but that's encouraging that they're staying in Chicago for now.
@@ASAviation One reason why I think they wouldn't move out of Chicago especially to Denver, is because the international traffic is very small compared to Chicago. You would think that a company like United that is priding itself on the international market would want to have its HC in a place with a decent amount of international destinations lol.
