I really hope that this course will kick off as the amount of information you have included in it is extremely useful and well priced. Good luck with that mate!!!
First time I've done this section. We normally go down the track but there was already someone down there so we decided to give this a go. We normally do well further down. Some really nice water in this section and I think if we had fished a bit deeper from the start we would have done really well. The bigger ones were all hunkered down on the bottom it seemed so once the euro rig came out it was a change. You must be enjoying the SI? So much new water to explore with monster browns.
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing Yeah cant complain but still missing the North Island. To be expected when you spend a decade exploring it only to leave I guess haha
This almost mimics my day on small fish yesterday, but heaps of fun, the water was dirty, so I took my 6 weight, wishing I had the 4 weight, but fun none the less. All the best with your online course content Johan, I hope that it helps someone and also helps you to fund further content, cheers
Thanks Neil, I hope the course works out that way. I really enjoy these streams. Even better in the summer when they hammer dries but great fun and always a few bigger ones in the mix too. Hopefully catch up in Taupo soon.
Awesome!!! You make it look effortless!!! You are a super clear as teacher in the course! Well done and keep it up. All your efforts and hardwork will pay off Mr Johan!
Love that stretch I have been fishing it since the 80's and it just hasn't changed (well maybe a little in a few pools) having moved districts its been 2 years since I fished it last. Actually taught a few people how to fly fish there. But yes prefer lower down towards the bush sections. A few deer about last time I went there. Yes I love streams like that with lots of willing small to medium fish with the odd surprise, one of the reasons I Iike it around my new home with plenty of streams and rivers stacked with trout small and large.
We have fished down the gorge a bit and really enjoyed it, mostly fishing to bigger sighted fish but I love this farm stretch now, good numbers and I even had a cracker 5lber from there the last trip. Good to hear there are deer in the forest. I've gone after the goats with my bow a few times but only once spotted deer on across the river on the farmland. I'll keep an eye out for some. Tight lines.
We certainly found a few little ones but it was good fun in a stunning spot. Thankfully the big ones turned up in the afternoon. Even with the small ones we are lucky with the average size of trout here. Tight lines.
Thanks Jake, much appreciated. Glad you enjoy the vids. I don't guide unfortunately but If you need a guide Rob Vaz is one of the best, www.robfish.co.nz

Thanks Pawel, and thanks for taking a look at it or me. Catch up soon for a fish.
NZ trout fishing - like an angler’s paradise; no furry predators to worry about, clean waters, big trout, and friendly land owners. 😉🎣😁.
Well said! Not slithering or 8 legged freaks either so pretty great all round, expect for sandflies....but you can't have everything. Tight lines.
I liked that spot. Hit and miss but always a good vibe exploring

What a fun day out :) Having the dropsies is just part of my fishing "style" now I guess 😆Always good to catch up, bring on winter!
We all have those days, I have them all the time to be fair. Probably used up my luck on this trip. Not long before the winter madness now.
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing haha fun nonetheless! Great wee stream :)
Hi Johan, looks like you struck a school of Brook Trout! Anyway, looked a bit bigger than a lot of American trout I’ve caught! Cheers mate. Harera

Nice video Johan, one day I'll come to NZ from South Africa to fish.
Thanks Nick, hope you make it over soon. It's an awesome experience, especially the South Island.
Hey mate, awesome channel! Do you guide at all?
