Motels were trippin. I’ve stayed in airbnbs where no matter how much I clean up after myself, they always find something to pick on.
It's not nice to leave liquids in a garbage can to dry and smell, but... it's a garbage can. These motels need to grow up. They probably had "other motives" to being so picky. The only issue is the beer bottle rings left on the counter, which probably wiped off. These are framers... if they messed up a handle on furniture, they'd probably fix it.
You are so right!
As a fellow American with Mexican heritage, seeing these men work reminds me of the reason why when people say "You work like a Mexican" or "You fight like a Mexican" it's an extremely kind complement.
As a white man, I worked construction and when I was 18 some guy told me I worked like a Mexican. I told him not to insult them like that and a framer nearby said the same thing “amigo that’s a compliment” I told him, yes but after the site calms yall got cases of modelo and double the work done. 😂 I can’t do that.
You just got mugged by motels 😂
It's rough in small mountain towns - everyone knows everyone, and "you're the new guy". So they're going to haze you, and if you push back you're "making enemies with your neighbors." So this one is probably just taking the beating with a smile and moving on... But yeah - TOTAL MUGGING.
@@jasonl2095 And each motel probably spoke to the other...
You can really tell how huge that beam is with him setting on it. That thing is massive .
As a former BNB owner, the pics didn't really show anything that would be a "kick out" offense. If there are towels missing, they should have a fee schedule and just charge you for 2 towels. Not the end of the world. They may have had some sort of noise complaint or something about the guys - maybe that is what sparked the issue. But if I had found what you had in the pictures and they were still staying there, I would have just left a note reminding them or even texted you as the holder of the reservation.
FYI dont worry if it rained, although not ideal your framing lumber and OSB is designed to take a certain amount of water/weather during construction. Just make sure you let it dry before sealing in the moisture on all sides. Happens at almost every house being built.
This is more compelling and genuine, albeit still only really a surface level look, into a new build vs many others I've seen online. StudPack and their new build is similar in that way. Watching someone do things they've never done before, learning new skills on the fly, learning from their workers, adapting. In some ways it's much more compelling than reno/project/specific skill building videos. Keep up the good work man - you're crushing it!
They should've left that ridge long and put a block & pully on it would've looked original ,historical & practical for pulling stuff to upper area ?
Take look at these blurred photos and let me know if it is justified....That one cracked me up.
Glad he finally showed the pictures at the end of the video. Them being kicked out is not warranted.
After watching ya'll move the doors, it reinforces my belief about how there's a vast muscle difference between people who work out at the gym versus people who do manual labor for a living. You can be gym strong and still not be able to hang with a manual laborer.
100 percent
We would have 20 some well-built gym guys start on our crews, and we would tell them how hard it was and that if they make it through the first two weeks, they will be good to go.... Most did not even make it through the first 4 days as we did 60 squares of tear off reroof per day in 80-to-100-degree heat.
I just finished a one woman bathroom remodel that took me 6 months. I couldn't do my normal weight lifting at the gym during that time because my body was too exhausted. I worried I lost my muscle mass from all that time off, but when I came back to the gym, I could do over double the amount of chinups I could do before, so not only did I not lose, I gained strength for sure!
it makes sense, people going to the gym are usually more focused on hypertrophy than building strength, so they tend to do higher reps of lower weight, focusing on specific muscles. manual labor is usually just lifting heavy weight and using several groups of muscles at once, so strength training.
@SaidinRage ur somewhat right. There's 2 types of people who go to the gym. Guys anyway. Ones for power lifting (for strength) and one for body building (for looks). But it's not about higher reps with lower weight. We lift with eccentric contraction. Instead of pushing hard letting it down real fast we let it down slowly. Like in bench press. Or if ur working out back u pull hard and release slow etc. Thats what builds the most muscle. Doesn't matter the weight or reps what matters is u always lift until failer. And the experienced guys don't lift light lol. Even me I squat 300 for 10 reps but go down very slowly and deep. Pause and explode. If I were lifting for strength I would be doing much more. Anyway ur right tho I do construction too and it made my gym life a lot easier
You have gym strengths, they have occupational strength.
Those hotels know who you are and they know they can get your money to fix those things.
Love the ''Added drama'' in each video but sometimes it's a little too dramatic ahahah Keep up the Good work, Love your videos !
For real. Over the top
my thoughts exactly.
You could totally use that cut off section of that LVL beam to make something cool like a coffee table for the place and you could then be like "this is the leftover bit of beam that's holding the roof of this house together"
Or he could have ordered it the correct length and saved a good bit of money. 🙂
@@randomnonsense_1 I'm sure he didn't have a say in the material length, they don't just make custom LVLs for this specifically designed A frame house.
Oh man, I was cleaning hotel rooms when I was a student as a side job... I had processed worse rooms than what was shown on the pictures and truth to be told, although we had nightshift workers who drank basically as much as a whole liquor store each night, they were much cleaner than our regular guests in comparison.
I mean, seriously, one time I had to take away a bed sheet from a regular guest. I don't know what kind of body liquid would have made that color, which I saw that day, in the hip region, but I just folded that sheet together and never questioned what it might have been. Another time, my coworker urged a scream from the bathroom.. I went over and asked what's wrong. The guest had pooped into the bathtub!! That god forsaken toilet was just half a meter over to the left. I exchanged so many broken toilet seats and I still wonder what they did to them in the first place?! Oh, and if they really wanted to have a fresh and clean towel, they literally drenched it in water and threw it to the ground. There's just no way, a regular shower or handwash would make a towel dripping wet.
So, my guess is the hotel was just trying to find a convenient excuse to get them out. Liquid in the trash can? Then put a damn bag in the bin! Spill rings on the table? It's their duty to wipe it off. A missing screw and a loose rubber? Bad maintenance. Trash beside the trash bin? Well, the bins are damn tiny in general. As mentioned before, I carried out at least thirty bottles out of the rooms from the nightshift workers every time. Neither did we ever complain if the guest had too much trash nor did any hotel in which I stayed issued a complaint to me that I was producing too much trash.
You have to make them a carne asada and some shots of don Julio 1942 when your done.
Hahahah Those motels, 50% of that you showed are from the owners man, those are minor things, Air BnB has some service fees included. Your guys did great work and you paid for their stay, the motels should be happy to have costumers.
Over-reaction for sure. The fee usually would include cleaning? The project is looking good!
I appreciate this new style of content and as an amateur DIY'er watching the process of this build is extremely enlightening. The arm chair critics and keyboard know it all's probably would've folded like a lawn chair from all the headaches and problems you've already endured thus far on this project. As far as the mom and pop spots they're a little bit to sensitive in my opinion and are looking for ways to cash in on the deposit. Great work sir.
hahaha
Give yourself more credit than you think. It’s not easy putting everything you’re doing in a video for everyone to see. Everyone’s a critic. Looks great!
I agree but at least admit when you made a mistake so others can learn from it too. Don't blame everyone else.
You might want to get the building inspection before the plumbers. And like kirschens to make sure they're no changes
those framers are just built different!!
It's a motel not a 5* hotel. Most things there can be cleaned and sorted. Nit picking at its best here. Surprised they didn't complain about slices of toilet paper missing.
If you'd used advantec zip system you wouldn't have to worry about house wrap or rain
It’s crazy that people still don’t use zip. It’s basically the same cost when you account for the price of wrap and labor of it, also performance. It’s just a no brainer.
@@nothingtoseehere93 agreed and ZIP -R is even cooler (no pun intended) thermal break for the win
looks like OSB the cheapest sh*t there is
certainly better than OSB
Mad respect to the builders!
As a General Manager that have been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. I've had to deal with several construction crews staying at my hotel. They can be a little rougher on the rooms and the amenities than you average guest. However, I didn't see anything in those pictures that warrant having them kick out. I would give at least three warnings before any evictions. Anyways love the series man. Those guys kick ass. you should give their company a shout out in the next video.
I think there is more to that story
A lot of Air BnBs here in the UK are absolutely that ridiculous with "rules".
At this point i just use hotels again even if it costs a bit more.
I hate airbnbs. Unless you are with a large group it’s always a bad value. I only stay there when my poor friends refuse to get hotels. But Airbnb generally sucks. I’m paying a cleaning fee why the fuck do I need to clean up and take the garbage out too? I never do.
In the early years when AirBnB / VRBO was getting started, cleaning up after yourself was normal and expected as there was either no or very small cleaning fees. Today, the cleaning and service fees almost always are more than the rental costs and often hotels are far cheaper. I won't say at an AirBnB that sends me rules such as "start the laundry", but is also charging me $300 in cleaning fees. In fact, I tend to go hotels anymore because they are cheaper for better service.
When I was a teenager, my room was in the attic and had the same unusable space. Well, that space is very valuable. Storage, Running Speaker wire or Electrical and storing things out of sight out of mind.
I almost pooped myself! That guy is not tethered to anything all the way up there.
Saludos a mr. Build it y a mis pausas desde Juárez !! Excelente trabajo !! I love it the videos !!
As a motel owner some subs behave obnoxiously at night getting drunk, playing loud music, and being rude to other guests. That being said motel used those weak excuses to get rid of them.
how do you know Alex is telling the whole story?
@@debby8428 nobody knows, the framers aren't going to tell Alex the truth on why they keep getting kicked out.
The build is in the woods, right? There's a forest of trees? They ever have fires in that forest? I haven't seen any fire blocking & your framing you say is done? Good luck with the framing inspection. Side note: It's a lot more difficult to install blocking after the plumbing & electrical is installed . . .
back in the day when I did commercial construction all over the western half of the US some of my crews that worked on multiple jobs would get this in some areas so some of them just bought campers or RVs and would travel jobsite to jobsite
Those rings on the wood isn't from a few days I think that the motel is taking advantage.
there has to be more to the story. Noise maybe? With all those "empties" and needing new batteries for their music I would bet so.
Hey Mr Build It! It looks like there is a pretty crazy pitch to your property. Have you addressed draining? Love the build man!
Rain wont anything. Long as it dries before you wrap it. Its all designed to be exposed to the elements during initial building stages
OSHA would love to see this😂
They dont go to the mountains.
F.... osha. Those goons have never dona a days work in their lives, which is why they love complicating our lives
When you stay in a motel or hotel, you are referred to as a guest. As a guest you are expected to behave a certain way. If they got kicked out of two, they are not acting as expected. They may be good workers, they may be good guys, but just as a guest in your home, they need to be respectable and take care of the place.
I feel the hotels are taking advantage of you. Where else do you put extra rubbish? Like keeping in a bag for easy carry right next to bin, I would leave some honest reviews. Like the cupboard??? Builders who would just fix it if they found it. The fridge seal? How does someone do that??? Nah, it was like that. They basically knew you were desperate to keep a roof over the builder’s heads and blamed previous incidents on you, especially since they were chasing rooms. The only valid complaint is the puddle. It’s from condensation, they had something cold, took it with them without checking under it.
probably more to that story
Those Mexicans have some massive balls of steel. Surprised that glulam header held them up
You should have butted the wall and pulled out 5 1/4 brick pocket. Then squared that straight up the rafter and cut it off instead of cutting it off with the plate line. That would have giving you closer to a 7 1/4 facia while giving you a brick pocket at the same time.
bro, your crew are all-stars for sure.
Quick question before my comment. Who makes the lighting system you have overlooking the bed of your truck?
I'd recommend getting lifting straps for almost any heavy item. They're very versatile. You can google them but the strap goes under whatever you're lifting and your arms go through holes in the strap so when you lift your forearms sustain the load and your hands are free to place on the thing being lifted rather than your hands/fingers having to hold to weight. My father has a couple of them and they are life savers, I love them.
Watching the "sketchy" lift from last episode and seeing how these framers jump and climb on the structure like its a jungle gym without harnesses, you know its "safety third" with them. I LOVE IT!!!!
I framed for almost 50 years and framers are the most physically fit people, balance, agility, strength, downside lower back problems
Install driveway heaters so you don’t have to worry about the snow
Such a sick build! Looks so cool
I enjoy watching the build coming together. Unfortunately it appears as though those motels are trying to get old damages covered by you. I highly doubt your workers caused all those damages, the beer trash I can see but not that other stuff!
maybe they were to noisy? after all that beer and needing new batteries for their music its obvious
"Boss had to build an a-frame. Dummy." 😂
Going to be beautiful though!
"These guys are built different"
My guy, framers are NUTS. The only guys in the trades crazier than framers are steel framers.
Tossing stuff up to a framer is highly dangerous I recommend using a simple invention called rope and a bucket. You can have the framer on top of the high A-frame section of the building and if there's materials or equipment that's on the ground that needs to go up to him, having a bucket tied a rope that can go up and down instead of someone throwing individual items up to him is a lot safer
As an airbnb owner myself, those pictures are comical. I couldn't take that seriously.
They do make 2x8 sub fascia. It’s called a 2x8. And the board you were holding was a 2x6 not a 1x6…
Those framers worked their butts off. They seem to be really good at what they do as well.
How pathetic is that you leave extra trash neatly by a trash bin, the seal on the fridge man that was like that way before these guys got there also the handle. These people shouldn't be in the Hotel/B"n"B business if these are the problems they can't cope with. Hate to say it but I think it goes deeper than this. These guys are machines I would be proud to have them do work for me or stay in my B"n"B.
it does go deeper. I bet Alex (or the guys) aren't telling the whole story
Wow those doors were a workout 😮😅
Don’t take the criticism too close to heart man, it takes big stones to take on a project that you’ve never done before. Respect Bratan!
"The plans said to drop the wall vertically but we didn't like how that was going to look so we cut it with the pitch of the roof"
Followed up by....
"Hey don't come for me, I'm just following the plans"
Bruh
I mean if you do that stuff at an air bnb they’ll definitely charge you. But technically it’s someone’s house so they’ll charge you for anything that’s messed up.. as far as the 2’ if snow goes… you could always buy a Duce and a half, then you can roll thru 5’ of snow😎
The framers came in and removed that screw behind the handle at that cabinet😑... Hotels definitely nit picking
You need more of the man with the stash.
the holes in the frame at the height of the wheels are for screws .... Safety always comes first!
There is a reason the framers needed new batteries for their music. My bet is they play it loud all night and that is why they were asked to leave.
Next time rent trailers for your workers.
When you have questions you don’t know how to answer a common thing to do is to send the engineer what is called an “RFI”
33:28 💔 💔 💔 oh no!!!
I'm assuming, by the end of the build, you're likely to pour some concrete wall behind the house (where the beam end fall) to prevent some potential land slide or a flooding? At least to direct the water away from the house? Just curious, as I was thinking about the NC rains from a couple of weeks ago and how your house is built, and that fall near your house got stuck in my mind.
I work at a 4 star hotel and we have had worse things done in our rooms than that. They can't start complaining when their housekeepers have to empty several big black bags worth of trash and rehang closet doors and try getting red wine out of carpets.
more to the story I would bet
You're crushin' it!
Tis a fine Barn Englishman! in the future use that left over wood and build yourself a simple skateboard with some wheels you buy at HomeDepot brother if you wanna move heavy shit like windows... or just go hire the Telehandler again!
Thanks for sharing
beer bottles by and not in the crash can!?!?! 😂 @ Motel
maybe the reason they were asked to leave was after all those beer bottles were consumed and the music (and people) got loud
The trashcans sound dumb, like it's a trashcan... The screw is also like, could just have fallen off. The only one I'm sort of like, your guys should have checked and reported it, is the rings on the cabinet. If that was already when they got in, they should have reported it. Then again if you swap rooms every day, I get that you don't do a full room inspection.
17:30 remix of Wagner😂💪🏽 noticed that instantly as a german😁 love it
So its a fancy resort cabin lol. Guess You tube is paying pretty well...
No Airbnb I've ever stayed in has been that nit picky. They probably didn't like the the thought of a group of guys staying in a room in their motel smh
They are doing the most 😂😂😂
The music makes me feel like I'm on hold waiting for a pharmacist.
The crap from motels give me the feeling that they're trying to pull something that they don't like the "type" of people who are staying there.
I doubt that. Money is money. Its probably the consumption of all that beer and loud voices and music that really got them kicked out
You should have rented an RV for them and then rented a space in an RV park close to the build site.
That petty man. What kind of hotels were these?
My question for you. What headache rack do you have on your truck?
Those framers are a different breed, protect them at all cost.
Im from Vegas and have seen rooms worse than that. Those are easy cleans, the motels are definitely doing too much
OSHA would go crazy if they say this video. Zero fall protection 😂
That’s crazy the way the hotel is kicking them out for that I’ve seen way worse slide.
he's not telling the whole story
A frame houses I would place in the same garbage bin where shipping container projects belongs. especially this one, unnecessary overcomplicated building.
Those pictures of just tell these owners to beat it 😂😂😂
I’d* they are being hella petty. Appropriately you hire a house cleaner in between air BnB clients anyway, it’s specifically a part of house cleaning companies. Vacation rental/air bnb cleaning. And these pictures… as a dude with a cleaning company, I’d feel I’m party scamming them 😂
@@nickclark4469 must be more to the story
If you did something like this in Norway you would go to jail. Not much safety here, workers climbing like monkeys many meters off the ground with no safety.
motel people are crazy, those are the hardest working people let them work!
Not gonna comment about framing, but the question is Zyn or Rogue? We see that container outline!
@8:35 the framer looks like he was about to cut his toes off :/
Please do a second series breaking down how you 'should' have done this safely. Holy cow so many times people put themselves in situations that could kill them in a split second.
And stop walking under workers when they are working.... oh my gosh this makes me so nervous. :O
@@tylerpeterson420 the whole thing is a masterclass in 'why are you documenting the most sketchy shit with a camera'
@@_tomg oSHA who??? Lol
Omg the motels are being stupid that's not messy
Maybe they know your building a bnb house which will take business away from them so are trying to sabotage???
hahaha
Come with me and we'll be in a world of OSHA violations! 🤣
i am a hotel cleaner in ireland, and not that ridiculus bad dirty was the room after your boys. That not that bad level what would get extra charge for clean, specially not for kicking them out at all and the maintenence issu can be happened with anyone like that, they just blame your staff for no reason, because they not like them. I am verry sorry for you for that happend with your staff.
he's not telling the whole story.
Lol.... the world of framing always includes those "engineers" and non- framer "architects."
Best of luck! 😊
PS
Build a flat dolly with heavy duty casters.
Confused on why it’s the suppliers fault for being short on beams if they should be giving you what you tell them. Unless you gave them the wrong number or you gave them the right number and didn’t count your inventory
It's always someone elses fault right?
@@_tomg thank you!
