- Be sure to check for underground cabling, pipes, etc by calling MISS DIG for free. I bought the whole box for $67.50 shipped. I have not seen that good of a deal since I bought these but they can usually be had for around $200 for a 28 pack. Pretty good considering the monitoring service is $170 A YEAR.
Fyi for those who keep asking. I measured previously placed by professionals and they put them est. 2 ft from the foundation. 10 feet apart from each other is recommended. I will be looking for my own dyi installation. I appreciate youtubers that teach me how to take care of things$$$$. Thank you
4 or 5 big steps like jack sparrow looking for his alcohol on the beach in that one scene and you’ll be good! That’s how I measure. It’s not an exact science!
great job. good way to save money. I just bought a house that came with these in the ground. Any idea where to get the refills? Thanks!
Just my two cents. Get you a tool so you don’t break the wings on the cap which happens to me pretty frequently even when using the tool. Don’t pack dirt in the station because it’s going to be a pain getting it back out to check.
can you provide the link where you bought tout bait stations. Thanks
Damn! I wish I did this myself. I had to pay $1,000 from my pest control company to install these bait stations. I noticed some of them are too close to the foundation. If they don't know how far 2 ft is, I'm fu*ked. Im going to call them tomorrow.
I already have the Sentricon Termite Bait stations. I am interested in the Sentricon cartridge. Do you know where I can buy the Sentricon cartridge refill ?
Awesome!! Thanks for this video. We just cancelled our subscription because we felt the same way; why should we pay when we can do it ourselves.
Where can I buy those? I checked their website but they don't sell them there. I want to install the stations so I called a pest control company and the representative quoted me $950 to install 15 bait stations around the perimeter of my property, 10ft apart. I think 15 stations should cost more than $200 and digging 15 holes shouldn't cost hundreds of dollars. So I want to buy them and install them myself.
Good luck on finding the replacement bait
It's all over eBay
did you have the link ? where we can buyed?
thank you
Did the recruit hd take care of your problem? I’m looking into the same thing. Helpful tip
I just checked the crawl space a few days ago and also check for mud tubes on the foundation every few months. No termite activity. However our termite activity was already remediated professionally before we switched to the Recruit HD. I just liked this as an alternative to paying a yearly "check the bait station" fee. We've saved 2000 dollars so far not paying someone to come out and go "yup, still nothing".
How do you determine how often to replace bait and where can you buy extra bait?
Good job!!! Lol they want to make 💸💸💸💸
Hi 👋 how often the baits change. Thanks Gus
Sentricon baits are growth hormones. They do not have an expiration. As long as termites and weather don’t mess with them they are good to go.
started installing today thanks. but do i really need to fill the hole with backfill soil for it to work or can it just throw it in the hole?
That is what I read in forums, it makes sense since then you dont have to wait for the soil to touch the bait sticks.
In 2019, over $400 for the annual bait check. fyi.
How far from your foundation do you place the stakes??
I measured previously placed by professionals and they put them est. 2 ft from the foundation. 10 feet apart from each other is recommended.
My neighbor installed bait stations on our property line, the thing is the stations are closer to my foundation than his. Only 5-6 feet from my foundation and around 20ft away from his house. Is this a problem?
Sounds like more of a "problem" for him, not you. Not so a much as a problem, more like a waste of money on his part. His loss, your gain
you get free termite protection.
The auger is way easier and you get a more precise hole
If termites happen to get past the station who are you getting your warranty from?
Also do you know how far apart and how far away from the house
I measured previously placed by professionals and they put them est. 2 ft from the foundation. 10 feet apart from each other is recommended.
Close but not quite. 10’ and outside of the drip line up to 10’ from foundation. If you put it inside the eves it’s a waste. Subterranean termites need moisture to survive. So if the ground doesn’t get wet it’s not going to work
Wait I was wrong it’s up to 50’ from foundation. Straight out of the sentricon book
The trouble comes in a couple years down the road when you can no longer find the bait stations because you forget to check them, and they are covered with grass. Also, just keeping the bait in the ground with no activity is just wasting the bait if you don’t get termites feeding on it soon. Baits will lose efficacy quickly when introduced to the environment. Using the wood as bait, checking it routinely, and placing bait when you have termite activity is the way to go.
What do you mean by using wood as bait? Do you mean putting wood around the property?
@@bhadz100 yes
I just realized this is 5 years old. So? Any update? Haha
You did a very good install from my pov at a newb to it! If ya like it now you know you can make a good wage as a sentricon installer.
No new termite activity. I bought another dozen of the recruit HD and put them in the crawl space boxes too.
A lot of times your paying for the guarantee that a company will offer you . A damage coverage is a lot of times part of that investment.
Nice job! I just bought on eBay for $110 for 14 of them plus $15 shipping. Needed some help/instruction with installing them correctly. Not rocket 🚀 science.
I was quoted $700 by a Pest control company..... Nah!
Your paying for a repair warrant with a pest co,

Did it work well?
Physical property owned by the purchasing business which is then liquidated or otherwise dissolved do not carry a contractual obligation/user license forward to subsequent purchasers because they did not enter into a resale or non-resale agreement with Dow.
Accusations that all Sentricon or anything else was illegally obtained without PROOF that the specific lot was gotten illegally are nonsense.
Good luck with your bait.
Would love to have the link where they were purchased. Those were stolen, Dow does not sell to the public, only pest professionals.
Lol they sell to licensed people. Those individuals purchase them and sell them on places like eBay. I’m sure it wasn’t stolen
I always thought so
Well according to some of the comments, I've just joined the group of thieves by buying off ebay and according to the mob outside....I am costing people jobs because I am using the self checkouts....yep! Heading to prison!
@Death Scythe lol comment cracked me up. Preach it brother
When you pay a company to do this. You're paying for the insurance of them repairing the house if it somehow gets termites lol. And for the service. It's not just to have them check the bait.
The company we used offered no such insurance policy. If any termites were found remediation was extra. It's been a while but I believe there was some small percentage off for having a service contract. If they would have had a 100% guarantee it would have been worth it for sure.
The companies I looked into DO NOT cover any damages. They only treat any found infestations. The homeowner is solely responsible to repair any damages. I made the same assumption and asked them what I was getting for 2400 dollars and they said the same. They also won’t leave the stations after a year if you don’t sign in with maintenance plan.
Jeremy Hand your paying a rental fee to Dow and paying for the tech to spend his time to check and replace the bait as needed. I get paid by the linear foot to check them at the company I work for
We use Termidor and do real treatments that is why we do give a damage warranty with our contracts. But to be honest if your ok with Sentricon and can get it. You doing is every bit as good as a company doing it. Sentricon takes 0 skill or knowledge.
Your bait will deteriorate and kill no termites unless they get into the station so you actually wasted your money.but then again I don't endorse the effectiveness of the baits to begin with
OK I just listen to the rest of the video $170 a year. I pay $600 a year.
Those are not traps....
The guy who invented Sentricon: ua-cam.com/video/EWgL_yN22_M/v-deo.html
Damn! I thought I was the only clever son-of-a-bitch who did it this way. It's much faster than augering, for sure.
$170 what a year a month every 6 months be more specific.
This can kill termites
First off.... If you bought these on eBay. You bought a stolen product. Dow does not sell to the public. An employee of a pest control company who provides sentricon as a service, stole these and placed them on eBay. So just know..... If you buy Sentricon this way, you are buying stolen goods.
What if it was a pest control company that was liquidating its assets? I doubt these are exempt from the first sale doctrine.
striker1211 Pest control companies who are Authorized Providers are bit allowed to resale them this way. Dow does not allow this. Period. I am a certified pest control operator as well as an authorized provider of Sentricon. It is against the agreement made with Dow to sell them this way. Period.
This is idiotic...,he paid for them, did not steal them. Get over it. If your job is so iffy to where it's threatened by some owners sticking a piece of plastic in the ground, find another job. lol
That's like the cretin who told me the government welding cylinders I bought from a government surplus auction were stolen. I proved otherwise. Fuck off, you know nothing of how all property is sold off. Liquidation auctions etc sell damn near anything legally.
Readers should ignore the autistic shitbag.
Violating the contract by the reseller is not theft. If Dow has a problem they can track down resellers. Why do YOU give a shit? Answer, to protect YOUR revenue stream.
That is stolen property.
No it's not you moron. He paid money for them.
You are making a statement of legal fact without proof. Assertion is not proof. Eat shit.
Ob Fuscated
All Sentricon is the property of Dow. Anything bought online from anyone not Dow is stolen property. You can only purchase the in ground and a above ground stations from Dow. That is a legal fact.
Virgil Vaduva
It doesn’t matter if he paid money for them. They were purchased illegally. You can only purchase them from Dow. Dow will only sell to licensed companies and you have to certify to install and check them.
All of you are wrong. Nobody can buy these stations from DOW. Those who are authorized to represent the Sentricon System are allowed to basically lease the product from DOW, they never ever relinquish ownership and the current patent runs through 2036.
If you buy them on eBay, you are buying stolen property and can be prosecuted.
Or maybe you are just an idiot?
When I suggest that something you are doing, want to do, or support doing, might be immoral or illegal, your default response is to insult my intelligence? You, my friend, are the stupid one. You're following the way of an idiotic douche bag to deny something simply because you don't like it.
You have no evidence that there is something illegal going on here at all so you are just making up stuff and throwing irresponsible allegations at someone you don't know. Also, he is not doing anything immoral as he has paid for the product. Your feelings are just hurt that he is not hiring you to do a simple job that you would charge hundreds of dollars for.
I'm going to ignore your pathetic attempts at psychoanalysis.
DowAgrosciences owns every Sentricon system and supplies bait, bait stations, and other materials to authorized operators who install and maintain the Sentricon system according to the agreement they have with Dow. You will not find a legitimate distributor selling Sentricon Always Active bait because it is not for sale. All bait is owned by Dow. Any bait being sold is, therefore, property stolen from Dow. Authorized operators aren't even allowed to re-purpose broken or partially eaten bait tubes.
The evidence I would provide is that there is no such thing as an authorized dealer of Sentricon Always Active bait. You cannot buy it and it is not available for sale through authorized dealers at any price. The reason is that Dow has not authorized anyone to sell it. They retain ownership and essentially lease the system to companies who maintain it.
PROVE it. Property of all sorts is obtained by many means including liquidation auctions and tax auctions. For example in a tax auction seized assets are sold by the government via contracted auctioneers. Those auctioneers and the government enter into no previous contracts of the liquidated business, which no longer exists. If pest control business Xs assets are seized for nonpayment of taxes, they are not stolen nor did the former business break contract by relinquishing them because the business had no choice.
This is the poor way to install it you do it this way you won’t get ultimate protection you got to create a professional barrier. Buying crap at the store only puts your place at risk need to have professionals that are knowledgeable he trained on this. Not to mention I work for a very professional company that installs this and we check it once a year not inbetween the year because it’s made to withstand it. I have never worked for a company that has checked him in between the year. If you request to have it checked they will. And the people that drive out there they do jacket because somebody comes behind them to check their work they work very very hard and walk through deep deep brush and all kinds of vegetation. Have some respect for the people that actually work hard.
A chemical barrier with the proper chemicals would be great as well, for sure. I understand pest control people have bills to pay and families to feed, but so do carpenters and mechanics but if I can DIY something and save money I will. This was not the "crap at the store" this was Sentricon HD. I did not like MY pest control company because they tried charging us for a year of just checking bait stations ($172 for just CHECKING) a year after we told them we no longer needed their service via email and phone.
I understand and you're doing about 71% of it right. Professional control service not only has the convenience of getting it done for you when you're in a busy schedule. Not to mention the other day I found 4 baits with termites all over them . do Not take the termites out and do not dispose of that live bait until its complete. do you know not to do that ? let them sit until it's all killed off. And if you go to high too, or too low or even a little bit too far to the right with a ststem you can screw up your whole barrier protection. If You miss. To check up to 2 to 3 baits because you weren't sure about it you ran into another problem. 76% of people that say they installed themselves are the ones that are upset that it didn't work ...😔everybody that this great company I work with has installed has never had a problem and it has solved all their termite issues in front of my eyes. careful how you install it's not just putting ground here and step here ..putting your one here.. it takes mathematics and site layouts and planning around the house. And you have no tools to plan it properly and you use a pole instead of a drill . you ned to drill the outside edgings to bring in the insects to get killed... So disprove buddy. Its worth the money.
Russell....do you understand saying what you did is the reason why people DON'T trust the "Pro's"....you said cause he used a freaking pole to make the hole instead of a drill....really buddy? So the metal pole I put in my ground, that had a mud tunnel running up to find the 4 x 4...was pure luck...but wait, dont answer just yet...cause I actually had 4 poles running like a fence line with tunnels running up each one...Hmm?
Next, the too high, too low...again I say, REALLY?...do you even understand how termites find food or are you trying to scare the people who are coming here for help. Again dont answer that, I would give you much more respect if you said you are trying to scare them.
That must mean, my house was at the exact area..not too high or too low. Maybe your onto something...if I build my house higher, then the termites will never attack....cause like you said it needs to be in perfect depth. We should tell everyone we figured out how to stop them.
I will give you one thing i noticed you are right about...yes you can smile. The amount you put in ground and space out. If it wasn't sooooo expensive, I would make a line of them around whole house. If you only put 1 in front of house, then yes again you are correct, the odds of them finding it is very low.
People...or future customers would put more trust in you guys and allow you guys to do the work if most of you didnt come off as so shady. I can tell you for a fact...with my house, I was 100% willing to pay the "Pro" guy to install everything....reason, simple...I had too much on my plate to get done, didnt want to be bothered with all the work. BUT....after hearing his BS about what I need and the SCARE TACTICS...that forced me to research and do it myself.
Be honest, stop scaring people and I promise you will get more work but it will take time before you notice the change. Take care and hope you take the step in right direction.
Why, so a "professional" can rape you on the price by doing the exact same thing? You guys think really highly of yourselves, don't you?
This is why people hate these guys..they think so highly of themselves and they literally lie to people like they do here, they rape home owners on prices and they take advantage of uneducated people.
