Wow! Thanks for sharing! I've been searching for information on how to hook up an old school dbx 4bx to my newer model Yamaha receiver but couldn't find how to do it until I saw your video! Thanks a bunch, very helpful and detailed!
I've been Googling for this kind of video since over a week. Finally i have found one and this video has given me so much info on how to hookup my hifi. Thanks a lot for making this video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! After 4 hours of working to get an old 92 Kenwood stereo hooked up, searching various places, someone finally dumbed it down enough, to my level. Having never worked on old analog stereo's I didn't know that there was a specific line out and in, for pre amp, that went down into the equalizer and then back! You saved my night, when you made this, back in 2012!
Nicely done, cuz. Was looking for other stuff and ran across this; for that person out there who *really* wants to go old school component but who is a neophyte, great explanations and step-by-step. The world of the audio chain can be a scary place. :)
Thanks for watching I grew up in the Era when this stereo stuff was top of the line It is hard to find decent Audio /Stereo equipment now that doesn't cost a small fortune
You're the man! Been trying to hooked up my vintage Pioneer equalizer and Pioneer Tuner, and how what a difference in quality of music (using yellows). Thank you Sir Not2Fast
This has helped me a lot with hooking up my old school system. I have the (Audio Source AMP One Stereo Power Amplifier, and a ADCOM GFT - 1A with a ADCOM GFP 1A) set up that I have been trying to get it to play back from anyone of the source's. I hope I can come back for more help. Thanks
Not 2 Fast For U To C, I got a Sony STR-K402 AV Receiver and it ain't got Pre Amp Out or In Hookups but it does MD/ Tape In and Outputs will my Receiver work being hooked up that way I got a ADC Sound Shaper Five Equalizer?
Radio Shack made some cool {add on} products back in the later 70's and to mid 80's..I used to have a {bass} enhancer that basically connected to your receiver like a {eq}..Worked nicely on older stereos with {tape monitor} button..If a low end receiver was lacking bass but had nice high end this product was great..Most older eq like the one you have there only had 1 input for a cassette deck...The was once a realistic {tape} control center that had 3 inputs/outs so you can add more to your eq.
Yeppers, so did I. Had several "vintage" systems back in the day, but enjoyed the gun-metal-color series of Technics components. Have a SA-500 receiver, which is silver face/faux wood cabinet; found some gun-metal amps/tuners and receivers, and a few different EQs at a local flea market. Was just refreshing myself on the sequence of connections to the EQ; not all of the amps have the "Line Out/Line In" RCA jacks so was making sure to compensate for that. Again, thanks of posting and enjoy your technique. :)
i have a mitsbishi system, the amp has equalizier input & out jacks, amp has jacks labeled input & output. I've tried different ways but can only get a little sound.
The XS was for other kenwood components. i.e if you pressed play on a cd tape/ dvd player, then the amp will auto switch to that unit. they were basically a cable with a headphone plug on each end. The control system was either SL16 or SL32 SL16 was for older equipment.
Hello Sir, this is what I have and what I'm trying to achieve. I want to hook up my turntable to my receiver and then to my equalizer but I'm not having any luck. I could hook up my cassette deck and use it with the equalizer but not with the turntable. My receiver has inputs for phono, cd, vcr/line, tape 1 and tape 2 rec and play but no output. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks

Hello, I'm wanting to add an pre-amp to my Kenwood VR-6070 for some bigger floor speakers that need more power. The receiver does have pre-amp outputs which is good. The amp I'm looking at is the Kenwood KA-828. I'm not sure on the amp where to put connection plugs from the pre-amp out jacks on receiver. Thx for any advice.
If you are adding an external amplifier (2,3 or 5 channel) to your receiver, you are going to use the corresponding "pre-amp" outputs from your receiver to the inputs on the amplifier. You are basically bypassing your receivers built-in amplifier and using the external amp, taking the signal path out from your receiver thru the amp and out to the speakers. Cheers!
My components consist of a Philico CDR recorder {785},Sony cassette deck TD-WE425,Sony mini disc MDS-JE-510,Sont DAT recorder A6,Pioneer 8 track recorder RH-60..All connected to the eq for recording and playback purposes..But I play it back without eq since it was eq recorded..My speakers are JBL studio series speakers..I love that studio/concert sound at home..
hi I have got an amp but it has no sub out just L+R out but I don't want to spend more money on another amp. is there any way I can connect the sub through the L+R out? its not anything to do with EQ but I hoped someone could help.
Hey man, I have a question and I see that you’re still responding to comments 10 years later so I have a it has a out but it’s one not two it has one black out can I run it without having the equalizer go back into the receiver
the purpose of having in and out is to equalize the sound before it is amplified to go to the speakers You cannot put a bunch of amps into an equalizer if you had a left and right out low power you could come out and go to the EQ andthen run the EQ into an Amp I am no expert on this you should find a stereo tech before doing any odd ways of hooking up any thing

Hi, I love to watch your videos because you pointed out clearly. My question is my TV doesn’t have HDMI out put, only 3.5 mm audio out for headphones. I want to connect this to my amplifier, so will I connect it to Aux or others like CD....?
If you have a {99 cent store, dollar tree, family dollar, ect.} you can find audio and video cables there for a dollar..I prefer "Uninex" brand that my local 99 Cent store carries on regular stock..Its a 6ft. audio {oxygen free} patch cable and works great..Any other audio brand cables will work fine..This is a excellent choice if one is on a tight budget..
Get a cable called 3.55 jack to rca cable. Cheap on ebay. Then connect the 3.5mm cable to headphones socket on pc or the back of the sound card and then other end to aux on the amp. Thats it. You are done
What if your Amplifier doesn't have an "Amp In" connection and only has a "Pre-Out" connection? Can you still connect an Equalizer to it? If so, what connection would you use? Mine also has built-in Bass, Treble and Balance control knobs. Will the Bass and Treble from the Amplifier be bypassed if an Equalizer is connected to it?
Then It should go to an Amp and then the Amp would have speaker out puts That is how alot of car stereos were try Ehow .com I have found manuals for stuff there
+not2fast4u2c At least I still have tape, tape 2 for 3 head, and phono. And I use them all. My alternative to the preamp out and power amp in is to amplify the signal, do the effect, then attenuate back to unity line level before the receiver's preamp.

What eq is that?
Joe SmoIt is a Kenwood I do not remember the model no.
Ok thanks
do you have a facebook for explain you from there plss
can I hook up a Yamaha av receiver to a Yamaha digital processor
I would not know unless I had them in front of me to look at
My uncle has a kenwood receiver a technics eq connected though the tape a monitor a on the receiver
Then It should go to an Amp and then the Amp would have speaker out puts That is how alot of car stereos were try Ehow .com I have found manuals for stuff there
Too bad my receiver doesn't have that functionality, but my guitar amp does so I can make a sweet preamp for it.
+Awakened Anhedonic The old stereo stuff had a lot more features
+not2fast4u2c At least I still have tape, tape 2 for 3 head, and phono. And I use them all. My alternative to the preamp out and power amp in is to amplify the signal, do the effect, then attenuate back to unity line level before the receiver's preamp.
