Very good staged 'restoration' project. Sadly you missed a few things which indicated that the amplifier was made to look old, corroded and failing in a spectacular way. But entertaining none the less.
Where a Variac comes in handy. bring up the voltage and if the current starts to climb too high not exponentially to the voltage, you know there is a problem and before you blow something.

Hello. If you turn on the amplifier for testing, I advise you to turn on the amplifier through an incandescent lamp connected in series with the amplifier. If the amplifier is defective, the light will illuminate and protect the amplifier components from fire. After repair, the first inclusion must be carried out through an incandescent lamp, so as not to re-repair and understand that the amplifier has not yet been repaired and there are problems in it.
Did u connect 2 speakers to it,,,to b sure it sounded in both left and right channels? Lucky u didn't do any further damage,,,from those fireworks earlier...
Wouldn't it be better to replace the damaged parts (or at least those ones that looks pretty bad) first, and then try powering it on? This way those damaged parts wouldn't cause more damage, right?
When you see sparks when you plug it in.....it's always a great idea to plug it in again.
