    Hey if you wanna stick around to the end I talk about the challenges I faced learning this tune. (WARNING) I dropped a couple of F bombs mostly cuz I was happy to get a good take without messing up. If you're not a fan of spicy language or you're one of my younger students maybe skip that part 😁😁. Also plz like and sub it would mean a lot to me and if you appreciate my efforts plz leave any comment you want to help with the algorithm.

    Gojira is a good start. I'm not a drummer but to increase your strength / endurance I suspect that you just need to practice more. when I practiced new skateboard moves I noticed
    specific muscles hurting. At that point I realised that we don't actually use every muscles most of the time. So the more we use those specific muscles for specific tasks the easier it gets later. I think you are doing good and you'll get there eventually.

      Totally bro that makes so much sense and I’m in the battle field so to say as we speak. Shedding double bass every day. 🤜🤛👍🤘💪💪

    Great job man! I'm also in the middle of improving both speed and power on double bass and what is working for me is cycling between 8th notes - 8th note triplets - 8th notes - 16th notes. I do 2 minutes of that with right foot/left hand, 2 minutes with left foot/right hand and 2 minutes just the feet while doing any beat with my hands, then I bump up the speed 10 bpm. Next day I switch up the hand/feet combinations and each week I switch whether I lead with hand or lead with foot. Working on the feet separately in this way and with a pattern that changes so often and forces you to pay attention the whole time has already increased my awareness of wtf my left foot is doing quite a bit and overall my double bass runs feel much smoother.

      My man! Thank u for this, I’ll start this protocol tomorrow night in my practice session. Make total sense to isolate the left foot for sure.

      @@yarpyarp85 If you remember to, please tell me if you liked the exercise or not. Since there's a lot of hand/feet interlocking it should help with blast beats too (at least traditional blast).

    Amazing cover! Great job! Bravo! Encore! :D
    Your feet don't sound weak at all... But hey, as the old adage goes, "You are your own worst critic."
    Edit:
    One more thing: You asked how to get your feet more powerful. I actually recommended you learn the song "Detox" by Strapping Young Lad, which features the legendary drummer Gene Hoglan. He has drummed for many huge bands, including Death, Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Deathklok (the Metalocalypse show touring band, also recorded all the tracks with Brendan Small for that show), Testament, Dark Angel and Old Man's Child. He has a technique for increasing the power of both his arms and legs, although it probably is one of the most demanding ways to do it. That is, he used to practice with ankle and wrist weights on, and always wore the weights for both solo and band practice. When he played live, he'd start the set wearing the weights and as he began to feel tired around half way through most sets, he'd take the weights off and then feel like he was flying through the rest of the set. He even said there were occasions where he'd leave the weights on for entire live sets! He was also known for going on tour with multiple bands and doing double duty, such as touring with Strapping Young Lad and Testament and playing in both bands. He also did the same with Fear Factory and Testament on a different tour decades later! Although I'm quite sure he wasn't combining both doing double duty and wearing the weights, even a legend like him has his limits!
    To risk stating the obvious, the advice he gives to people picking up this method is to just practice as normal with the weights at first until you feel fatigued, take note of how long you had them on, and then finish your practice as usual without them. The next time you practice, aim to meet or exceed your previous best goal with the weights until you are comfortably finishing your usual practice routine with them on throughout. He doesn't recommend adding them to playing live until you are extremely comfortable always practicing, both solo and with others, with the weights on.
    I've had the honor of meeting him a couple times over the decades. He even streamed on Twitch for a while! A beautiful human being and simply amazing drummer!

    I love how you're dressed could be for jazz or metal. I love both. My favorite jazz artist is diana krall.
    as for the song bleed it took the drummer months to learn how to play that song... so don't sweat it if it takes time. Also if you youtube/google i swore there was a video of the drummer talking about that song and how he had to set up his kicker thing (sorry im not a drummer so idk the terms.)

    Hey man just found your channel and I've always gotten compliments on the strength of my double bass with out triggers... I found this video a while back from Dave Lombardo at a clinic talking about is bass drum pedal setup and it really changed my philosophy on my bass drum approach. I always liked the thud of a relatively loose head and relied on the pedal to do most of the work, but bringing up the tension on the head to get more rebound and pulling the beaters back a little more really does a lot. Plus don't be afraid of getting something harder like a wood beater, it'll bring the top end of the attack out more without having to go as far as a danmar pad or something stupid like that. Keep up the good work my dude 🤘

      @yarpyarp85  Місяць тому +1

      Bro that makes so much sense! Thanks for all of this and I’m gonna buy a set of wood beaters as soon as I can afford them lol. Also I’ll check out the Lombardo video too.
