    Hi Murray, Thanks for your videos, its great to watch and find out about the real cost of living in Bali. We have been many times but never really found what we would like to spend longer in, like 3-6 months a year. Hotels are too expensive for longer stays. We are hoping to spend retirement time over there between 3-6 months each year. We watched the lease living video as well. Although we thought it a good idea, it wouldn't suit us, as we prefer our own space. Loved where Alan lives but its a little small and we would love a bigger outdoor space as we both like gardening. Would you be able to do a video on a home/villa type property with more of a garden, and pool, 1 or 2 beds, or see what you can film? :) We know it would be more expensive than Al's place, but maybe it is possible? Fingers crossed. Thanks Murray. LUV your work.

    What I like about Bali is big lush villas, everything done for you, top notch grub out and Gojek for home, and a beer or two at a bar a few times a day . I think this would cost me a bit more 😊

    Really good to get a bit of a reference of potential food cost for long term stays....I actually think the prices are better than 10 years ago, most likely that there is a greater market now with so many westerners that things are more competitive and import in greater quantities.

    The amount of plastic needs to be addressed . Bali has a huge problem with plastic , but nearly all the food in that supermarket is wrapped in the stuff!

    Fairly dumb comments here. If you are living in Indonesia and eating western, the prices are going to be high. If you shop at a western supermarket and eat food Indonesians don’t normally eat, the prices will be high because wastage will be high and freight will be higher as demand is lower. Go eat a Nasi Goreng and you will pay $0.50, eat a steak and potatoes and you will pay through the rook. Simple

    • @ian-f5f
      @ian-f5f 4 місяці тому +1

      Not dumb comments, to start with 50cents is 5000 rupiah, nowhere can you get nasi goreng for that price. maybe 20 to 30,000 from cheap warung. Also traditional Indo food is extremely un healthy and full of carbs. So yeh, food is cheap if you want to destroy your health. Diabetes anyone?

    • @putra4101
      @putra4101 2 місяці тому

      @@ian-f5f Traditional Indo local food is more than Nasi goreng. 🤦‍♂️
      My man only knew 1 kind of local food and call it a day.
      You can had pecel, gado gado, various soup, compared to western food, they are cheaper and healthy if you can cook yourself that's better.

    • @ian-f5f
      @ian-f5f 2 місяці тому

      @@putra4101 No, not healthier at all because most indo food is rice and noodle based, 2 of the most unhealthiest foods you can eat. Since the large scale move to the cities and a relatively sedentary lifestyle, certain diseases are skyrocketing in Indonesia because of high sugar and high carb foods. In fact the leading causes of death in Indonesia are now stroke, heart disease and diabetes. Not to say that Western foods arent high in carbs as well but unfortunately because animal protein is quite expensive in Indo dishes tend to be based on carbs. Average life expectancy is 68, one of the lowest in the world and trending down, that does not indicate a healthy diet.

    • @putra4101
      @putra4101 2 місяці тому

      @@ian-f5f There's no definitive links between food and average expectancy, our food is close to Malaysia and even China and Japan, when you said noodle and rice based, they had lower average life, this is not true for the country that I said before.
      Average age expectancy higher means the population is ageing, and the young people is less than the old ones. 🤨
      Ain't no way you want to say noodle and rice based is worse than animal based one.
      Where this belief coming from? 🤦‍♂️
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy

    • @ian-f5f
      @ian-f5f 2 місяці тому

      @@putra4101 Sure there is, strokes, heart disease and diabetes are all linked to diet. In fact type 2 diabetes is directly caused by diet and all studies and research shows that, its not in argument. I dont "believe" things, I study them as I have been studying this for more years than you have been alive. I have also been travelling to Indonesia for over 40 years and have witnessed directly the change in lifestyle by people there and the explosion in lifestyle illnesses and obesity.. But yeh, probably a good idea you research first before commenting further.
