Having gone pretty far down the rabbit hole of hobby metal-working and purchased a lathe and mill, I always want to dope-slap myself when I see a real artist get it done with simple tools I had already owned from way back but never thought to put to such use. Nice work.
Not only did I love the build Laura - but your UP BEAT music as well! Just do NOT UNDERSTAND how anyone would give you a thumbs down on this. Keep up the great work.
Hey Laura, I'm needing some additional lighting in my shop. I know this video is 4+ years old but thanks for providing the inspiration with these lamps! I currently do not weld so I have to modify to my abilities and available resources. Keep up the great work and inspiration. Your work is a gift. Prost!!
The best furnitue and lighting I find on my travels is always made in this way by some person like 70+ years ago. Incredibly happy to see this reemerging!
Lovely steam punk look with gun blueing patina, & once it's in place it looks like it has always been there: Useful, practical & harmonious. I have used the washer trick for rounding corners, but always by hand file, never occurred to me that a belt sander would as good & much faster: Inspiration & education, thank you!
Wow ... Fascinating ... what a beautiful industrial look you put in this piece ... I'm amazed by your incredible videos and projects ... congratulations, you're the best!
Wow! I love the minimalist use of tools! Most of the makers on UA-cam would have used about $5000 more equipment, but you produced a working scissor linkage with a grinder and a drill press! That takes some skill!
Wow.... 😱 How cool is the entire video, man oh man, now I have that musical loop everywhere I go, or when doing stuff, tnx dear Laura for sharing the magic!!! :D
I have to say since finding this channel 2 days ago I jumped to making things after a nearly decade long drought of ideas thanks for the inspiration! your craftsmanship is fantastic!
Those lamps are awesome! I'm sure they'll come in handy! So happy the Lincoln Electric gear is already getting a workout. Love the Rosie the Riveter patterned welding helmet too! Nice one, Laura!
Aha! I finally found where all the traffic to one of my older builds (industrial chain lamp) was coming from. Great work Laura, and thank you for the traffic!
Awwwweeeessssoooommmmeee project with killer editing and filming, well freaking done. I love your videos, projects, outlook on life, and the inspiration you are to all makers. THANK YOU
Love the cable management. Also the fabric coated flex looks great, after seeing you use it here and Simone use it on her Spool I just want to use it to replace all the cables in my flat.
Hiya, way beyond cool, 1st. rate concept, execution, filming, editing and music! I love the way your mind works, anyone could see the safety covers but you could see the lazy tongue lights. But it's not just seeing it's having the necessary skill set to achieve your goal and then doing so. Keep on trucking Dear Lady, keep showing us the way...Steve
Nice idea, Laura. I have in my workshop a bell which I made out of a small disposable propane bottle of the type used in the USA. I cut the bottom off at just the right place (lucky) and it rings very loud and "true". I hang it from a piece of wire through the valve top, which I drilled a hole in. Nice work.
such a clever idea, I wish I had the ability to come up with such cool ideas. I'm able to think on my feet as a welder/fabricator at work to build structural things and such, but artistically not so much. I'm very glad I can get inspiration from you and the other great makers on UA-cam. btw- can't understand anybody considering a👎
Hey Laura. Missed you for a while there. Good to see you back. And its another cool project. Glad you got to break in that new Lincoln equipment. Turned out great. The purple was the added flair for me. And as always, the production was classic. Great sounds as well. Great job, sweet lady. Troy
So great to see someone that's super creative, cool and inventive and can create a vid that is also entertaining, you will be inspiring so many people to try something new on so many different levels well done! You seem to be working in a cold workshop? Maybe you can come up with a creative way to build a shop heater for yourself? I hope you can keep making these vids they always add something to my day thank you for that!
Came here from This Old Tony's channel. Nice video! Nice lamp too! Goes to show that those of us who don't have a fully equipped machine shop can still do neat stuff. You're scaring me with that grinder though!
Yeahhhh... Great !!! It's a very good idea ... il like it 😍 Fast and simple of realization ... All I like❗ Congretulation Laura 👏 ... Have a good day ❗😜😜
After watching this video of your awesome build, I ended up watching 3-4 other videos of yours. Great stuff! You're clearly super creative and talented and seem to have a lot of fun. And I LOVE the way you put together your videos (great editing, great music, love that you show your mistakes in builds.... just rad). Can't wait to see more! Subscribed!
Another great video! I love the way you put it together! Just a suggestion for when you have to do the same operation to a lot of individual parts (drilling, shaping), stack them and tack them together. While each hole will take longer to drill, it'll cut down your overall time at the drill press and all the holes will be in exactly the same spot (as long as all the parts were lined up when tacked together!) if you tacked at the ends you could start rounding the corners off and then as you get to the final shape, grind off the tacks. That way you wont have burn marks in the middle of your part.
Awesome! Love the creative reuse of the gas nozzle covers, and the washer tip for rounding the ends of the steel stock. I can't get enough of that fabric covered insulated cord, use it for everything (so far two pendant lamps and two desk lamps). Can't wait to see what else you make!
Wahnsinn!
Lovely concept! I like it. Washers in between the arms would prevent scrapping of the black finish on the insides, and auto locking nuts (or clamping them) will provide many more actuations before something gets loose. Also, putting tape around before grinding, protects from unwanted marks. (unless the "quick bad finish" (read in a constructive way) was intended)
I come to see your sunday video and of course it's one of a kind again. But no, it's not all, you put in a christmas gift for me :) You found a blackener! :) Thanks Laura, you're the best!
unfortunatelly i bought it in new york...still no source of blackener in germany to my knowledge. but yesterday a friend told me i could also use "stahlbeize" never heard of that...
Having gone pretty far down the rabbit hole of hobby metal-working and purchased a lathe and mill, I always want to dope-slap myself when I see a real artist get it done with simple tools I had already owned from way back but never thought to put to such use. Nice work.
The brass was such a nice touch, I love her aesthetic

I LOVE the idea of using an angle grinder in place of a belt sander. Brilliant!
What a fantastic build! You are one of the most creative and stylish makers on UA-cam.
wow, thanks, man!
Just watched this on the big screen tv with my little kids. You had them mesmerized.
sweet! :)
Wow.... 😱 How cool is the entire video, man oh man, now I have that musical loop everywhere I go, or when doing stuff, tnx dear Laura for sharing the magic!!! :D
Just watched this again with my 4 year old daughter, she was quite concerned about your thumb and adores your welding mask.
Yup! Yup! Sweet Build Big L!!! That's just plain FUNKY FRESH right there! Much Love! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Laura, I am in love with your camera work and how you film with your work as the main subject!
Cool lamps! What a treat with new content from you. I always get inspired and creative watching you work! Thanks so much Laura!
I have to say since finding this channel 2 days ago I jumped to making things after a nearly decade long drought of ideas thanks for the inspiration! your craftsmanship is fantastic!
oh wow, that is great to hear!!! enjoy!
You are the DiResta of Germany with out the amazingly overdone product placement. Great design.
You have a beautiful eye for style ..design and detail...a polymath in progress..well done.
Those lamps are awesome! I'm sure they'll come in handy! So happy the Lincoln Electric gear is already getting a workout. Love the Rosie the Riveter patterned welding helmet too! Nice one, Laura!
the helmet and the welder are fantastic! thanks
Aha! I finally found where all the traffic to one of my older builds (industrial chain lamp) was coming from. Great work Laura, and thank you for the traffic!

thanks, kayley! happy you enjoy my work!
Love the cable management. Also the fabric coated flex looks great, after seeing you use it here and Simone use it on her Spool I just want to use it to replace all the cables in my flat.
those cables just add such a quality to any lamps! very much worth the extra dollar

Very nicely done Laura, love the design would love to see more designs like this
Well done, even my 14 year old son said it was clever! Missed you last week but I understand and I'm happy for you.
i am glad your son approved my work :)

I can't believe you don't have more subscribers Laura. Love your channel.
working on it :)
Beautifully designed and made Laura!

So well built and well thought out design.

i remember making this at school back in the day but with cardboard and a small bulb. This is amazing might redo it in steel as well

haha, i only missed one upload :) but i seemed longer, right?
Yeah I was having withdrawals! Don't do that again, ok? ;-)
super badass Laura. in search of a sweet industrial floor lamp for the office so this really had my attention 👊🛠
Looks beautiful Laura !! I think a hinge at the wall joint could add even more functionality.

Good job on the build and the interesting shots, nice welds too.
Thanks Laura. Nice job!
I did not know about that trick with the washer during grinding.
So I learned something new today :)
awesome!
Super cool project, and your metal fabrication is awesome!
Very nice, the purple cord looks great! And all done with only 1/2 hands well done :)
Another freekin awesome idea Laura!! Thanks for sharing and inspiring! I almost forgot one of my favorite parts of the vid, the music! It was rad!
Lovely concept! I like it.
